song is actually pretty sad..its a tragedy..especially at the end from 5:46 till the end..the fate of the fallen angels. I am not religous at all but if there was a Lucifer and God and if he in fact did rebel..I would feel that in the "last days" God will even forgive Lucifer and allow him to be the angel he once was.. Not that i Believe in any of this stuff, its just what i visualize when i hear that part..

This is an interesting song for I had had this on my mp3 player for many weeks, if not months, till I realized the true beauty and the indescribable melodical depths of this piece of art. I remember vividly when (especially the last part of the song) just struck into my mind and ever since I've listened to this song over and over again with the greatest awe imaginable.

But Metallica is no longer thrash. Dream theater will never become alternative rock. SX is underrated, to be sure, but then again prog rock/metal bands are all underrated and virtually unknown in the mainstream unlike Metallica.

My drummer and I were having a conversation about Dream Theater and Symphony X one day and he said something I completely agree with: "Dream Theater has better musicianship, but Symphony X has stronger songwriting". Most SX don't have the feeling of dragging on where even the best DT songs suffer from that. He and I also agree that 'Divine Wings of Tragedy' is easily one of the best prog epics ever, both in the progressive rock and the progressive metal genres

no worries, I liked them more than anyone else 'till I gave a good listen to Symphony X. I'll admit that DT has far superior lyrics, but the singer sucks live, he is flat on every song, and lately all vocal melodies sound the same. Falsetto sucks, it should be used in moderation. If they would just release another Pull Me Under, or... all right, I guess DT is better, I am just pissed off about the last couple of albums where songs drag on and on without being memorable.

the musicianship by both dream theater and symphony X are strangely alike in there style, they both are at an epitome of which many bands don't get to, they are up there musically and skill wise, I don't think you can really say which ones better.

Yes, both bands are irrefutably virtuosic in their musicianship.

I think the bickering over which band is better is just a waste of time. It goes without saying that both are amazing. There seems to be the triad of dispute between Dream Theater fans, Symphony X fans, and Fates Warning fans about who is better, when ironically each band likes the others.

Obviously there are key differences, but their compositions and styles are very similar.
