  • LOL Flying car...

  • that 'chines' guy looks like johnny depp

  • If you're Chinese-American, your fuked

  • @crossvariation why :(?

  • @YourSoulEmbarks Well in this scenario posted by discovery channel where China and U.S tensions are rising, if you are Chinese-American, you can't exactly make a choice of which side to be on. China- the land of your ancestors, parents, relatives, etc, Or America- the place where you grew up in, were educated, and recited the pledge of allegiance to everyday.

  • @crossvariation you are so right :\ where, its hard to make choices like this, but when the time comes I hope I can make the right choices

  • poo

  • lol the Chinese guy in the hologram sounds like one those cheesy villains you'd see in Command & Conquer Red Alert

  • oh and all this is becuase half the oil is gone

  • ive solved the energy crisis and being that oil is the earths natural lubracant ive cept earth quakes from getting more intence once i implement it. and oil wont be gon by 2057 its lasted us 100 years it will last us at least 70 more

  • 00:20, what about the actual heat generated by the fusion? Are the walls just meant to withstand that?

  • The bad acting I can deal with, it's the bad science that ruins this. Why would oil shortages lead to electricity rationing? Nearly all electric power generation in first world nations is done with energy other than oil.

  • @christo930

When you hear the environmentalists say to much fossil fuels are being burnt for the sake of energy, it means to much oil is being burnt, or coal. Oil is used in electricity generation as well but 50% of Americas energy is from coal burning.

  • @Virgil077 The US has ZERO commercial electric generation from oil. Oil is used primarily for transportation, heating and petrochemicals. Even outside of the US there is very little electricity production from oil.

  • why are the chinese space guys dressed like the ones in Star Trek?

  • why the acting?

  • COOL we will watch porn in 3D

  • this ones boring..I liked the other ones better,

  • USA and chins being the super powers? what about the EU?

  • Well I think that the space station will be hanging in the space due to centrifugal force. it means that the gravitational force should be out ward and people should be standing with the heads towards earth and feet to far side. visitor should arrive feet first. or we can say earth and the space station will be hanging on the ends of a rope with two out ward gravitational forces.

  • Actually there's this one book that talks about the next century, and in it the writer predicted that Mexico would be a big world power too... but I think it will be mostly corporations.

  • I come from the future.`;

  • What bullshit this show is!

  • as exactly as I thought the two superpowers in the future are China and USA

  • @dlobrown8888 who is USA kidding? the "greatness" they are munching on is but a past glory...fading away with a speed of light! with debts as they are USA will be lucky if they can even maintain a space program untill 2057. being one of the two driving powers behind scientific discoveries? too far fetched. if anything it would be china and...well..japan? koreya? european union?..NOT USA

  • @Muxxyy

interest how unaware you are. US is in debt with all the other countries in the world. JAP, EURO, and CHina. debts dont mean that you are a declining power it just means that you have to balance your books. The USa has had far more debt per capital in the past and we have succeeded. You must not be american. In fact I have read a book that states EURO, JAP, KOrea are declining power and US, China, india will be the only nations growing

  • @siegfried0752 and i have read a book that stated cows will fly by 2057. seriously...ofc i'm not american, that's why i'm not brainwashed by corps such as fox into thinking everything's great. just because you repeat something enough times, doesn't make the statement true.

all US does is borrow. it's not about the books any more, it's because the nation is incapable of generating the capital the way it used to. you borrow money from china to buy cheap chinese stuff = vicious circle of doom

  • hot german bitch

  • turbines under the ocean to catch the tides

  • Renewable energy BS...

  • they should continue Tesla's research there's some real potential in it

  • i guess in the future humans naturally evolve to talk as if they are being badly dubbed!? the bits with the actors are annoying :(

  • fuck ... gass hydrates... another stupid but profitable idea...

  • what if we harnessed the hydrate then built huge turbines all across the oceans to harness the giant currents and also for wind increase....if we have apartments in space im pretty sure we wouldnt really be affected by weather...it would be like that clone planet in star wars...stormy rainy planet...we can adapt to anything

  • Hey Chinese don't speak like that!

  • could we burn it in a space shuttle and somehow release the CO2 int space and then send the energy down once converted to electricity???

  • in theory we would need to create a electro magnetic field about 5 times the size of the earth though

  • Mmm, burn some more gas-hydrates and heat the atmosphere some more?

Why not turn to geo-thermic energy and leave fossil fuels all together.

Search for 'the big ask' and think again...

  • so much bad ass shit going on in the world...

and i get my only pleasure from a corn dog with ketchup...

    god damn physicist!!!

  • watch?v=QBbXzFt9Oyg&feature=channel

  • this kicks ass

  • By 2057 illegal immigrants would still be whining for welfare.

  • These things aren't pointless.

  • Yes, do we need a hairdryer?Do we need gaming electronics?Do we need cars?Do we need junk food I think not!You see I'm just saying that electronics are going to shatter Human Nature.:)

  • Then let's go back to living in caves! I bet that would really rekindle 'Human Nature'*

I guess the best solution would be for you to become Amish or go spend the rest of your life in the caves of Tibet.

It would be a win-win situation: you would have a life you always wanted and pretty much the rest of the world will go on as normal.

And yes, we more or less need these things in the modern world.

*'Human Nature' is almost an entirely subjective thing.

  • Now,now let's not argue.Arguing will just cause a stupid war on Youtube.Don't blabber me with comments just because I have a differnt opinnion!I'm just a kid!My uncle says this stupid TV,Games,Computers, and go outside!I am done!:()

  • these things arent useless, its just our generration aint used to this stuff, i bet our grandparents didnt like technology as much cuzz they werent used to it either.....personaly i think they shuldnt be making this shit our kids future will be bad cuzz they will become lazy

  • Humanity is already dependent upon technology to the point where the vast majority of us are simply incapable of surviving below a certain technological level.

  • my god humans have always depended on technology. The fucking sharpened stick or the sharpened rock attached to a stick. Basic tools. Are in fact technology, and was in fact crucial and part of the reason why we aren't fucking extinct. because other than that, and being able to run long distances we aren't sturdy creatures, and we stand up right like perfect targets XD. We are a species that's always depended upon technology there is no shame in this.

  • I never said anything about being ashamed of being dependent upon technology (I in fact advocate the reverse, thus my username including the portmanteau of "technomancer"). I simply meant precisely what I said: most humans are incapable of surviving below a certain technological threshhold. In the modern world this threshhold is amazingly high. There is perhaps a benefit that 3rd world nations have over our 1st world nations: their reliance upon technology isn't nearly as crucial as ours.

  • Technology is what refines our lives and makes the better and longer. Technology empowers us and gives us a glimpse of the awesome power of nature. You, as a user of technology should not be complaining. Technology, as life is continually evolving and this shows no sign of stopping. I think continuing on this path, combined with understanding and morality, will bring us a future of peace and prosperity.

  • You're dreaming dude. Unless technology can put an end to all religions then there will be no peace.

  • Yes, with it we are more vulnerable and dependent on it, but we can protect ourselves by learning the traditional way of life and having backups and protection systems. I myself believe, that a prosperous, clean, and rightful society is possible, if we just have the will and the humanity to make the tranformation. Either that, or we go down in flames, warfare, pollution... Only time will tell. Beeing a part of the "make or break" generation is, to me very frightening, but also somewhat exciting.

  • the Chinese will obviously be the first ones to start the fighting... jerks... learn to use sidewalks

  • yo what's up with the star trek-ish looking clothes that are worn by the chinese leaders?

  • I think it would be very kudos to wear some Sci-fi like clothing in the future.

  • you should upload more discovery shows like Explorer

  • It is really a white future, even the Chinese guy looks more white than Asian. :-)

  • Waitaminute...

On the station, how are they just walking? I don't really see the station spinning...

  • us and china own other contries

england, russia france are all stupid contires

  • us,china remaining superpowers.

  • Our imagination always out run the realty. Remember the movies about the year 2000? We were in same kind of clothing, some polyester suits, and same flying cars crap. I don't know about U guys but I steal use my jeans.

  • What about the possibility that all that is portrayed on this clip is pure fantasy? We've of yet to perfect renewable energy and neither the government or big corporations the will to instigate this change - this present financial crisis is a wonderful opportunity - so we can benefit from such sources in the long term.

In the long run every household/apartment block must generate its own energy for its inhabitants in a sustainable way. I believe a town in Ludlow UK have already done this.

  • wouldn't it be predictable that CERN has high hopes for it's tunnel..Fusion may be another acare to look out for in the future.

we may not have a choice in the matter of experiment for our main options may run out.God forbid our sun dying burning us to our death.

It's all fine with me for a future of fusion only if it's distributed evenly amongs us weary.

  • yea distributed evenly like medical care, antibiotics, vaccines, oil reserves, food and money are already LOL

  • at 6:05 it locks like the early power rangers of the 90s when the leader told the what to do.not to sound stupid or anything.

  • god these are some weak actors.

  • I was thinking the same thing!!! HIGHlarious.....

  • it's only a documentary

  • "it's only a documentary" you said. i have never seen so much drama in a science documentary

  • LOL 2057 and we still dont have full battery powered cars. LMAO what a crock

  • nonono, we need to leave that stuff alone

  • how about make fuel out of garbage there never be an shortage of that.

  • I've read all of the comments you've made on my videos, don't you have better things to say? I mean everything you said was completely pointless.

  • harnesing energy from garbage is posible!

  • @Striden12 If the people are in space, then wouldn't they be floating around? (Yes, I know it's fiction, just curious.)

  • well actually in denmark and parts of scandanavia thats already done to power electric stations

  • @granddadpsycho a scientist in hong kong has recently made a machine that you put in garbage and it basicly heats up and converts the petrolium in garbage into a vapour and when it settles it becomes gas again

  • dont tell me russia will not be a power in the future...

  • usa is not gonna be a superpower, it's just common sense and logic looking at today's events

  • Sorry, but you're incorrect. Despite the rough decade that the U.S. has had, it still remains the world's largest economy with the most powerful military. Unlike the EU, it is still projected to have population growth and long-term economic stability. But, it won't be the SOLE superpower. We are moving towards a multi-polar world, with many great powers across the globe. Don't allow your own resentment of the U.S. to cloud your logic, it's beneath you.

  • 2027 sounds a little better dont u think?

  • no it wouldn't

  • why should it be 2057? cant they make this faster?

  • @phillipborja As least as long as the world is runned like it is today, the war will come faster...

  • @phillipborja you got the money to pay for all this stuff?

  • @phillipborja Money can accelerate the projects.

  • Methane cometh from pig shit!!! :D

  • oil supplies are runnintg low now. the gov does not want us to know

  • Well actually they told us...but whatever if you like being paranoid then thats not my problem.

  • not being paranoid it is the truth

really mean with china and other countries now getting more cars then american oil will run out so we need to be ready

  • How do you "ration" electcity?

  • ever heard of batteries?

  • Very interesting and revealing doc. I also noticed the way the Americans and/or Europeans were represented in comparison to the portrayal of the Chinese as nervous, skittish, arrogant, egocentric elitists lol funny. As a side note, I wonder how they [Discovery/the American media] expect to nurture and help forge good relations with the Chinese culture while continuing to programme their viewers with the idea that the Chinese are a rogue race that needs to be tamed by big daddy. lol

  • I didn't get that impression at all. Like Michio said, the leading countries will most likely be America and China. The economy in China is changing/growing rapidly and they're going to outgrow the resources available, as well as in the U.S.A. In such times, both powers will be in competition for the upper hand. This was an American made film, so of course there is some biasing to make China look like the bad guys. If the film were made and produced in China, it would be just the opposite.

  • If the Europeans and/or Americans had forged good relations with the Chinese people in the past, relations would have developed much different than they are today. Instead, in the past the Europeans/Americans thought and expressed themselves as being superior to the "yellow man" (and virtually every other culture on the planet). Therefore it's no surprise that the Chinese would react in a like manner. After all, that's how they were treated.

  • The fact that you just assumed i was a racist who believes in white supremacy is really just astounding. You yourself are ignorant and racist if thats whats on your mind all the time. The fact that i said that black and hispanic people don't watch the discovery channel has nothing to do with race but culture. The discovery channel appeals mostly to the white middle class culture thats it. Get off race issues it's getting old where i live racism doesn't even exist anymore.

  • oops i attached that last one to the wrong comment, but yeah, you said u wern't being serious about the first statment. but let me point somthing out to you; even 9000pooper took it seriously as well. but anyway no hard fellings though.

  • Lol smashsamus, im sorry i wasn't being serious chill out man. I'm just saying there aren't "many" black or hispanic people who watch it. Anyways the dicovery channel has dry and boring shows now. Besides, that was one hell of a big burst of BS for a small comment that wasn't even insulting. Perhaps you misunderstood my intent of that phrase but don't assume a person is racist like that and start insulting him. OF course i know race is just a skin pigment relax dude.

  • Striden12, what are u, a racist or what?

I've been watching the Discovery channel sence i was a kid and still do...and oh yah, I just so happen to be black.

if ur so smart and enlightened, as i'm sure u think ur self to be, then u would know that race means basically nothing but skin pigment.

Don't make the mistake of over-generalizing people and trying to fit them into a mold of ur own. I mean, u really do come of as an ignorant person after that non-factual statment.

  • I've ben watching many science documentary's, and let me tell you,

there are many great black scientists in this world.

  • Why did you go on all my videos and post the future sucks ass get a life.

  • There won't be any oil left in 2057. Oil stocks are in decline worldwide now.

  • the funny thing about the future is there's never any black or hispanic ppl

    guess we got em all

  • actually, ..ur right. sorry. to be honest, i'm really not like that in person. normally i don't even care about the whole race thing even if someone is being racist to my face.

i think we got of on the wrong step there.

yes not just me but you too.

for the simple fact that u even made a comment saying its 'CULTURE' dude, there is no such thing as BLACK or WHITE culture any more but rather Demographics, if u will.

  • Here black and white people are indistuigishible , sry if i mispelled that, other than skin color. It's mostly in the U.S i suppose where theres the bigger culture divisions. I just don't like being called a racist lol it's never happened to me before since i have a black, mexican, lebanese friends and usually deal with people from very different backgrounds where i work.

  • striden', fist off, I never actually called u a rasist, lol. I merely asked if u wher one. Thats one of the set backs to text communications, u can't be fully understood. like u would be if u wher talking face to face with someone;(tone fluctuations-facial expressions-etc.) Anyway I live in California and i'm drenched in the same diversity as you are, so belive me when I say; I know what u mean, lol. oh and being called a rasist isn't as uncomin as u think here in the us. ..where do u live??

  • Hey Striden. I'm black and I love the history channel and discover channel. I watch those channels more than any other network or channel. I live in America. I know many blacks here who watch these channels too.

  • I'm sorry you didn't read the rest of the argument.

  • Canada, its a very multicultural country here. But we are more open minded i guess than in the U.S .

  • oh and by the way stiden12.

THANX FOR THE VIDEO UPLOAD. I ENJOY WATCHING THESE DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT THE FUTURE. I CANT GET ENOUGH
