I thought the film was surprisingly good and well handled by Brian de Palma - I'll be so bold and say it's his best film since Carlito's Way. In no way is de Palma saying he hates America - he is criticizing the Bush administration that got America stuck in another Vietnam (where are the weapons of mass destruction?). And he is also criticizing the actions of a select few (the group of soldiers who thought it was OK to rape and kill Iraqi civilians - a real case by the way).

Saw the film and it wasn't even entertaining. Predictable and over the top characters, not believable. Depalma tries to do a remake of his "Casualties of War" film that starred Penn and Fox in 1988. Difference was this film uses C-rate actors and not one likable, believable or sympathetic character which the 1st film had. Too much one-sided anti-war preaching to the audience.

Dear Mophead, WRONG! It opened in 15 theaters with an average of $1000 a screen. At $7.50 a pop, that's 125 people. That's PATHETIC!
If that was their plan, then it was the same plan Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel executed in "The Producers": Lose money and win.

You should really look into to how that case turned out. As for Blackwater, a terrible situation, if they're guilty they should pay. I thought the film was surprisingly good and well handled by Brian de Palma - I'll be so bold and say it's his best film since Carlito's Way. In no way is de Palma saying he hates America - he is criticizing the Bush administration that got America stuck in another Vietnam (where are the weapons of mass destruction?). And he is also criticizing the actions of a select few (the group of soldiers who thought it was OK to rape and kill Iraqi civilians - a real case by the way).

I so wanted this film to be the best thing EVER. I'm a huge Brian Depalma fan, my favorite filmmaker but OMG the acting was just such bad soap opera acting about halfway to the end of the movie. Genius Form but wow it got silly. I hope this is just me, did anyone else have a problem with the quality.

we actually don't disagree, I would like to see the movie again. I love Depalmas movies but some of them are an acquired taste like Phantom of The Paradise (one of my all time faves) or you could say Femme fatale as well, which both border on high camp but are amazing form and filmmaking. But Redacted just seemed extra campy on first viewing, believe me I want to be wrong about this. I'm always routing for Depalma.

Whoever makes LONE SURVIVOR into a film is going to make a FORTUNE! Things like courage under fire and selfless acts are more popular than this crap.
