I wondered about the pre-recording issue myself, because the show aired on Tuesday nights and (at this time) Carol was appearing on Broadway in "Once Upon a Mattress." I wondered if it was taped live on Sundays or if she was given a pass from the Tuesday night performance of the show (which seems unlikely)
I believe Garry was "live" that season, 'big'; he didn't tape his hour-long shows in advance until a few years later. Almost all weekly variety shows weren't on "tape" as yet in 1959...
I'm wondering if the show was done live or if taped, was not edited that much because there were times when it appeared George was hesitating about the next thing he wanted to say.
You don't want to see that golden mane covered by the Kurward Derby--no wonder he got upset at Jay Ward!

That was a gutsy cigarette ad parody...interestingly, R.J. Reynolds would be selling Winstons on the final season (1963-64).

That was Gobel's schtick, he was known as "Lonesome George Gobel" sometimes.

At the end of the show it says it was "Pre-recorded".

@bigred997 That's just George's usual delivery.
