Governor Mitt Romney is a RINO. He supports stringent gun laws. His Massachusetts Health care overhaul pales in comparison to the atrocity of Obamacare, but it was similar. He has never expressed public regret for this. He told Michigan residents at an event there that the financial services bailout was absolutely necessary. He stated you said that the Republican Party needs to pass "immigration reform" (amnesty) in order to attract new voters.
Dr. Alan Keyes understands that the problem is, at root, a MORAL, ETHICAL problem. I am an atheist, but most of my friends are Christian. I talk about it often with them, and I refuse to pretend just to make make my family happy. If I find God, it will be because I BELIEVE it, not because other people want me to. I respect Dr. Keyes, because he believes in right and wrong.... and he is SO right about SO much.
Glad to hear Alan calling Romney's health plan what it is. It's not personal, and it's not about Mitt, but conservatives cannot oppose Obamacare and at the same time endorse Romney's plan at the state level that has NOT worked at all in Mass. If Obamacare is wrong, so is Romneycare.
Alan Keys is way off base to refer to Romney's plan in Massachusetts as socialist. It's not. Romney's plan rid the Massachusetts healthcare system of free loaders. Free loaders that tax payers had to pay for. Thats anti socialism. Romney by the way fought againt tax funded abortions in his plan and full subsidies even for the poor.
@sambunderson I like Mitt too, but anytime the state infringes on private business to this extent; it shades toward Marxism. Romneycare may address free-loaders, but it is also an example of govt control. Socialism is the direct Govt control over its economic system, regardless of free-loaders. Romney regrets having signed the bill & Boston is saying it's bankrupting the state. He may be able to say what not to do with HCR b/c of his experience though...
@swiftyread Romney is more of Fascist than a Socialist. In any case, Mr. Romney does not believe that the purpose of government is to defend Individual Rights, rather it is to "manage" the actions of individuals and "society". He is not a principled person. And as for having "experience": I've never robbed a bank, but I don't have to to know it is immoral.
@engine2truck6 I am sure that fascism and socialism are both far left of our economy, but then again, if we make much more progress we'll fall off a cliff. I agree with Alan--Romney served his own opportunism. I just don't like fighting tooth and nail every time he comes up. Go Christie!
@swiftyreadGovernment administering healthcare in partnership with big pharm and insurance: unconstitutional & fascism; government partnering with private education and nationalizing student loan industry: unconstitutional & fascism. "Green Energy" & "Smart Grid" - more of same. The "semi-free" part will no longer apply when the internet is "policed" by the fed gov, which will happen with "net neutrality" during this lame-duck session.
@engine2truck6 I do not know much about Christie, except that he doesn't put up with any baloney. Is he as consistent regarding Individual Liberty as Ron Paul?
@engine2truck6 I am not a big fan of Ron Paul. Well, not regarding his foreign policy anyhow. Christie is building that resume by the day. He recently cut funding for a Planned Parenthood Clinic. It then closed its doors b/c it couldnt survive without the govt teet. He cut unions. He cut govt bureaucrats. He's doing pretty good so far. We'll see what comes in the future.
@swiftyread We live in a semi-free, fascist country. Central bank: unconstitutional & fascism; paper money: unconstitutional, & fascism; Federal government "in partnership" with large portions of industry, production (automakers, Fannie/Freddie/Goldman, Utility Monopolies, airports) unconstitutional & fascism.
@engine2truck6 I wouldn't go as far as to call it a fascist market. Maybe NOW it is more "indirectly controlled by govt" but in general, its still a free market. What Central Bank? Paper money back by silver. Right? The gold standard would be good. Partnerships w business? I guess, but the military is the Fed Govt's #1 priority/job. Green economy? Yes. Fannie Freddie? Yes. Its not like the govt is running GM or Banks tho. They regulate. I am not happy about what I see either.
