I love this show but it made me kinda sad that the happy flirty new girl was just a rouse. It was so nice seeing Summer playing a "normal" person. I can only imagine how frakked up that made John.
I think the relationship is symbolism of opposites attract and can actually complete each other in a fulfilling manner.Cameron helps teaches young John and John helps teach her.Fulfilling eachother.That could be said about most relationships but people usually choose people similar to themselves and finds out that they divorce after twenty years feeling something is missing.
i think its more to further the man/machine element john had with T-101. it show how john attaches himself to another terminator. theres also a bit of irony because for how close he gets to cameron, he knows he'll be leading the fight against her kind. but i think they're trying to build the kind of relationship(you can even call it friendship) john and T-101 had over a longer period of time. i know its called the sarah connor chronicles but for me cameron's the star of the show
