is it cheaper to get a macbook and modify it (like increasing the storage memory and speed) or should i spend more money and get a macbook pro. please help me decide!!!!! anyone?!!!!!
Certain processor-intensive activities such as rendering a video or exporting consume so much of the processor's resources, that attempting to do anything else is extremely slow.
Also, it is very important to monitor the screen while this activity is taking place -- hence the macbook is a great companion to my desktop.
I bought a 13" Aluminum MacBook last year, and then I won a new MacBook Pro at Macworld Expo in January. Running them side-by-side, the MacBook Pro screen is a lot nicer with a wider viewing angle and much better contrast.
For rendering video, the MacBook Pro is a lot faster. It has two GPUs which can be selected for "better battery life" or "better performance". When it's set for better battery life, it's about the same speed as the MacBook and takes about 4x the time to render a HD video.

I agree 100%.
The 13" macbook is like a companion to your desktop and it works great.
In some cases when I am busy rendering a video on my desktop, I will participate on YouTube with my macbook and keep in contact with my friends.

@TechTalkGuy haha couldnt you do that on the macbook att the same time, it certainly has enough ram

It might have been a slip, making videos on the fly you do say the wrong things sometimes.
But, you are correct it's DDR3

Wait, mac book pro takes longer to render an HD (from an HD cam I'm assuming) video than a mac book?
MelaniePortrip 2 years ago
The MBP has two video modes. In "better performance" it's about 4x faster than in "better battery life".
