@jink25 Hmmm, that's awesome. I wanna do put the same engine in my chally, but the shop im talking to is saying the 440 isn't reliable enough as a DD. I think im gonna just switch over to Arrington.
@cacman1993 The 440 or for that matter any stroker is going to potentially have long term longevity issues...in essence they wont be 150,000 mile motors, they will need to be refreshed before then. Arrington warrants their motors for 3yr/ 36,000 miles and they will still be running just fine long past that mark. The 440 is lots of fun as a daily driver.
@demssboyz The motor is from Arrington Engines. The stock rear will hold up if you are careful and only use street tires. The second the tires hook it would snap the stock rear end. I swapped the rear for a limited slip with much stronger axles.
@8747800 Not sure if you can see my avatar logo (the orange 440) but that is what is on the front grill now. The back has a similar logo to the srt8 one but says Hemi 440.
@willy93billy A stroker is a motor that the displacement has been increased by increasing the distance the piston travels in the cylinder (stroke), and in the case of my motor the bore is also increased for an even larger displacement.
@rachelface03 My plan is twin turbos running at most 9lbs...the 440 due to its long stroke is not ideal for high boost applications but is a ton of fun on the street.
@sirgir101 The Iron block 440's bore to stroke ratio is less than ideal and puts added sidewall pressure on the cylinder (4.060 Bore / 4.250 Stroke), so high boost would not be a great idea. An efficient twin turbo setup at 9psi or less will produce a lot of power and should still be reliable on this motor.
@whereru2night Fully built SHR race trans. Its actually a Mercedes transmission with Kevlar clutches very similar to what ends up in the high end MB cars...shifts faster and harder than any human could do with a manual.
that is one AWESOME ride. BTW, whats the term "stroker" mean? i'm only 15, so its not like i have built any hot rod engines so i don't know a whole lot about that stuff.
@smithkid1996 The term "stroker" refers to the fact that the engine's displacement was increased to 440 cubic inches or 7.2 liters via increasing the stroke. Usually stroker engines come as kits including a new crank, pistons and connecting rods all needed to increase the stroke.
@gnarlycharlie666 ok, thanks, also, did you start with the original 5.7L hemi that came in that car from the factory, or was it swapped for a 6.1L then modified? also, if you dont mind me asking, just out of curiosity, around how much did it cost to do all the work on that car?
@smithkid1996 Haha sorry man but I'm not the owner. I just saw your question asking about the term stroker so I just chimed in to answer. Don't know anything about this car haha.
@smithkid1996 My car started as a 5.7, then I swapped it out for the stroked 6.1 based 440. I have about as much into the engine/trans/driveline/brakes etc as the car cost new...not a cheap car to mod.
@jink25 wow... i didn't know it was that expensive... at least it looks awesome, sounds amazing, and outrun anyone on the block. did you do the work yourself or send it to a speed shop? how long did the swap take? you said its basically a Mercedes trans, but Mercedes designed the car (well the chassis), so is it the numbers matching 5 speed auto, or was it swapped with something else? how many gears? if it was swapped from something else, what did it come out of?
@smithkid1996 Modern Muscle in Oswego, IL did the install. It is the same type mercedes trans that came stock with the car, but is completely rebuilt and upgraded with AMG solenoids, kevlar clutches and a lot more from Southern Hotrod. The trans is capable of handling over 1000rwhp.
Nice car and it sounds hooked up pretty nice!!! Great job you and I both have original R/T's old school!! I lobe pulling up too srt8 with the r/t badging and blowing off the line and then I make a new Mopar friend.
Im actually looking at dropping in a new engine so I was looking around for RT since i have a sleepy one myself :) just not that much power. So how's the drivability of it? Do you drive it everyday? I can imagine the thoughts the guy was having in that Z06 lol... :)
@2006DodgeChargerRt I built it as a daily driver, and it is currently plowing its way around the snow in Chicago...with snow tires of course. If you dont get into the gas it behaves pretty much like stock, other than you can tell it has a cam and the SHR race trans is a little noticeable on downshifts but not harsh.
Awesome ride!!! I love the fact that it's an RT as well. I can only imagine how many times , you've surprised people pulling up to you to race in the street- lol!!!
@2006DodgeChargerRt With street tires I dont even bother attempting to race anyone off the line the tires wont hook up...generally I can just open the cutouts and that scares them off. A brand new Z06 came alongside me on the hwy once going about 70 with my cutouts open...its headlights got pretty small in my rearview mirror quickly.
@jink25 A brand new Z06 will suck the paint off a 440 packing freight truck especially from a 70 roll. You realize even a stock Z traps 129 mph in the quarter right? It weighs about 1200 pounds less than the dodge and makes more power too.Call ing BS on your account.
@wugrut Where do I start first with your mouth diarrhea. The Z06 might trap around 129 mph which is nice its a fast car, however I will have already finished the 1/4 nearly a second sooner running 10.8 @ 125 compared to the Z06 which finish around 11.6-11.8 in the quarter. My car is 900 lbs heavier with me in it (not stock curb weight). Z06 is 505 CRANK HP...my last dyno was 504 REAR WHEEL HP ...convert that to crank HP and that means I have over 100HP more than the Z06.
@jink25 To be clear, I like your car a lot...but you apparently have not actually raced a new C6 Z06 from a 70 roll. Clearly you do not know what they run in a quarter in stock trim either. 10.9 to 11.0 is common on run flats with a paper filter. I am sure you would holeshot him from a dig, but you are not going to pull one like you claimed if they are racing you from a 70 roll period. Are you sure you did not run a C5 Z06... that seems more plausible? Thanks for your time.
@wugrut I have seen these run at the track, average is mid 11 sec in stock trim. Check the corvette forum 1/4 mile records...fastest is 10.98 that I could see and that is RARE compared to most that are 11.5. Keep in mind these are the RECORDS and dont represent the average driver. I will also admit to not being a corvette expert, the car said Z06 and had the newer looking tail lights, C5 or C6 idk for sure. I let off the gas at 175mph and they were way behind me, thats all I know...
@wugrut Shut the fuck up trying to talk all professional and thanking this guy for your "time" he smoked a c6 zo6 so deal with it.. dont suggest he is lying.. chevys suck cock anyways.
@jadenjaden You are acting like a conceded juvenile full of angst. We had an conversation to clarify details and you think you have something to add? You can leave now and let the adults converse. Lastly, I never suggested he lied. I suggested he ran a C5 Z06 to which he acknowledge was possibly the case. No harm no foul... Thank YOU for your time dreamer.
@jadenjaden hahahahahahahahah chevys suck cock but dodges dont, dodge literally make some of the cheapest pieces of shit, chevy and ford are way ahead and more advanced than dodge!
@tuugfo Check my other videos...a dyno run I did last Nov has been posted there for quite a while. The car is making a bit more than when I did this video a year ago, more tuning and complete new exhaust so probably around 520rwhp.
Do they make carburetor intake manifolds this engine? Because if ever I were to buy a Chrysler, I'd really be interested in putting one of these 440 hemi's but to be really nostalgic, I'd want to have a 3x2 carburetor setup. and a insignia that reads "440 Hemi 6 pack" :P
@FANADICALCOWHEAD I believe XV makes an intake that would allow you to do that. For what you are trying to do I wouldnt use a GENIII hemi though, it would add complications to your project.
@MichaelNimar 504rwhp/522rwtq...thats a bit over 600 crank hp. Those numbers are all motor at low compression for a blower. Another video I posted has my last dyno run.
I bought it as a longblock with Arrington phase 4 heads so it can handle up to .645 lift cam (currently .607)
The 440 is available as a stroker kit as well, but you would need to get all the block work done still so it makes more sense to buy it as a shortblock or longblock.
