No relation to this but... My hp compaq laptop starts up well does it's thing I type in my password then.... It freezes then goes to a black screen with blue at the bottom. I have been using ccleaner then after that it works well then the next day it does the same black screen with blue I hav been on safemode but that doesn't work either anymore Any help pleeeassse!!! mine wont turn on, just get a power light and thats it, the fan spins for a few seconds and goes off, the screen doesnt come on, and I tried other monitors, got the hard drive and put that in an enclosure, so I have the files back, but the Inspiron is dead

my computer had similar problem, but my virus was physical. my mom brought it to stores waranty section(i just can't stop loving dell for 3-year waranty), they sent it to dell and i suspect they changed the motherboard. and we had to repair the comp because there was problems with graphics. when dell sent it back, it was like new, but it had few phisical probs too(hardened keys, i spilled my drink over the keyboard, BTW)

I bought a gateway laptop from bestbuy and a month after I bought it it wouldn't boot. I called gateway and they told me that my motherboard was bad and they told me to take it back to bestbuy. I did and bestbuy looked at it and it was the HDD and they even fixed it for free. IMO bestbuy and gateway are the best.. :)

Hmm I saw a nice gateway laptop and wanted to buy it and u said that they fixed it I was worried now Im not I was gonna get an Hp but its more expensive with less features so its a first time buying a gateway hope it will last a good time! Im typing from an hp desktop computer and its worked very nicely! Not A single problem! But im gonna try out gateway and see how it goes also its pretty cheap in price the gateway is like 479.99 USD and the HP is like 549.99 USD Gateway is priced better!

I have three IBM stinkpads that have BIOS issues. They just sit there and collect dust cuz they are PIIIs.

Sometimes it is cheaper and better to buy a new laptop.

(I don't recommend stink pads).

We have a Gateway Solo PIII that is nice, slow, but nice. It's kewl with me.

I hear Panasony toughbooks are good too. But if I were ti invest in a laptop, I'd go Gateway.
