While it is good to have a solid technical finger foundation, your wrists are freer to move than you think. Experiment with being a bit looser, with practice and intuition, you'll notice the difference between playing the song and... "being" the song? I never really could describe that feeling when the song takes you somewhere else.

@showmeyourpineapples to build on this advice, loosening up your wrists/fingers will noticeably improve the sound quality of each note. Right now, the sound is kind of flat, without shape. It has the right volume and duration, but it lacks musical substance. A lot of it has to do with the way you release the key.

This is great! I was an amateur/intermediate piano student when I learned this song, too. My teacher mainly taught younger students from 5-10 (I was 14), so our recital theme was "color songs." I was ecstatic when I found out a song from Final Fantasy had a color in its title, and even more ecstatic after I heard how it sounded. It was fun. ^_^

P.S. you played Blue Fields splendidly and I agree with a previous statement, in pleading for an encore. I myself am a great fan of good BGMs and would suggest to look into not just ffVIII but all #ed ff's after IV as well as Legend of Mana, the Metroids, or even a few from the Castlevanias (esp. SotN). Just a thaught. I'm sure anything you chose will be great. Because you play well, and ride the music.

If you guys havent realised, there's a whole album for all of the pre FF11 series in piano, all the way until 6 i believe.

I highly suggest looking for more, such as Besaid island, silence and motion, attack, fishermans horizon, guadosalem.

Theyre all translated well into piano, all arranged by Shiro Hamaguchi, composed ofcourse, by Nobuo Uematsu in midi sound effects lol

I always thought that was the biggest disadvantage of playing the piano Kazlic, its not exactly easy to take with you.

The only other instrument Ive considered playing would be cello, but there is no Final Fantasy Piano collections, or any set of songs I could play with so much passion.

There are better pianos for sure, but having a piano that is properly tuned makes a big difference. I see people with pianos worth a fortune but they don't want to shell out the $40 to have it tuned. What a waste.
