Disclaimer: I study math and have never taken a voice lesson (10 years of piano, though, and I grew up listening to opera); I may not know what I'm talking about, and I don't know the terminology.
I'm impressed with this performance, especially the effortlessness of it. (I know there's effort involved, but I feel strain should not show in the voice.) My one suggestion is consistency. There are some really beautiful moments (2:50). It would be wonderful if that could be maintained throughout.
check out the end of the song...I think the page turner girl has the hots for you!! very nice job! Watch your pronunciation ... a few Italian issues, o/w great job!
BRAVO!! You are extremely talented & I sincerely hope that you use the tremendous gift you have been bestowed with to great success! Thank you very much for posting this video! :)
Hey Ian... you're really one amazing tenor. in particular i loved your messa di voce. just a small suggestion: can you edit the videos beforehand to turn down the volume of the clapping part at the end? it really kills the beautiful ending.

I'm considering doing this piece for my applied voice class. I'm also considering auditioning to this school....thank you for being a great example of both.
@treblesounds Thank you for saying such kind things about this performance...and hey, if you ever want to know anything about CMU, please send me a private message and we can talk! I would love to help out...Lord knows I could have used help in researching schools!
you're techinque and breath control is pretty solid, that was the impressive part of the performance for me, I would, on some of the high notes in the earlier passages, use a bit more cover, which may have been a result of it being your encore(wow) to your recital which is a testament to your techinque, control and support. But even though you are a lyric in my opinion some more of that dramatic covered sound on some of your top notes would put it over the edge, but congrats that was great :)
@tCrOMez1990 Thank you so much for watching and giving such wonderful and helpful comments! It is true that I was a bit tired by the time I got to this piece, but I understand what you are saying about the cover up in the beginning. I think I could definitely use more warmth in those passages. Thank you thank you thank you!!
