  • Freddy - I've viewed several of your videos and you have to be one of the best chord/melody jazz guitarists currently on the net - and a fan of Barney Kessel? I have been a big Kessel fan for years - I met him at Ronny Scotts with Herb Ellis and Charlie Bird in 1982 when I was 18 and have listened to his work ever since. Look forward to more of your wonderful rich extended chord work.

  • thanks jazzyedwin24! i started using my thumb at age nine because of my small hands, but was pleased to find out 10 years later that barney copied me by using his thumb also! lol-(just kidding)

  • I love how you play, your phrasing on the guitar is so smoothe never hurried. Really allows me to absorb the melody, rather like floating on the ocean, day dreaming soaking every thing in. You inspire me to sing and play more guitar.

  • thanks alohacaramia! i'm glad your getting inspired to play and sing more!

  • Hey Freddy,

I'm an accomplished pianist working on my jazz piano skills.

For some reason, I can pick up more by ear listening to a jazz guitarist rather than a jazz pianist. I tend to hear it more clearly for some reason.

    Thanks for posting these.

  • thanks MuscleMikal!probably because i use less notes than a piano.also the intervals are farther apart making it easier to hear.

i used to play classical guitar arrangements on the piano as the notes are less cluttered.try it!

  • what a feeling, very nice, thank you for share you soul.

  • and thankyou for listening delta8

  • Freddy - Lovely as usual. Gotta ask - what kind of amplification are you using to get that beautiful tone? Sounds wonderful.

  • thanks uncle Jim,your overly kind,Les paul is in his 90's and still playing gigs! the 1st CD is yours

  • Thanks freddym223. I am what I would call a 'lawyer' guitarist, that is, I can only play what is given to me in writing. I truly envy you and other 'natural' musicians who can play what they hear and imagine. Your chords are a wonderful example of musical creativity.

  • Freddy,

Both you and the guitar are at the point of 'ONEness' during this solo.
