  • do you even have strings on the guitar? ?=-|

  • there are r.h hammers and slides in last 3/4 of solo listen hard

  • fake, how come the drums were playin, but u were playin guitar, how come at about 0:01 second the solo start, but u werent strumming,,, i think OUTSIDE THE BOX lol but still... nice guitar

  • Dude - that's me playing...what are you talking about? Check my other videos then...

    lmao

  • its called backround music and video lag LMAO

  • Its called a back track, to keep up with the tempo, and to make it sound better. You put that on and play over the the drum beat. He wasn't strumming because he was bending and useing hammer-ons/pull-offs. Oh and you are a complete dumb ass.

  • @rocknumberonefan dumbass

  • Do you have a tab for this.

If you do please tell me.

I was so pissed of cause i could not find the right tab for the whole song.

I did the whole song by ear and i just need the solo.

  • From wikipedia:

Steve Stevens is well known for his use of a Raygun sound effect in the Billy Idol song Rebel Yell. This sound effect was created by using a unique picking technique on the guitar, right where the strings meet the bridge. He now uses a real toy raygun that produces the sound effect, equipped with a pitch bender and a repeat changer

  • the laser gun is a phase shifter pedal

  • how does he do that laser sound ???

  • i think its a pedal

  • no, actually he does use a laser gun.

  • LOL man that was an awesome comment.

    Well done

  • you can do the laser sound if u get a pen and mute the strings, and tap them over and over

  • AWESOME! man the original solo is the best and you pulled it off you wouldent have tabs for this would you?

  • not bad at all..for ur attempt 5/5, for your style 3/5 :)

  • Awesome job man, at 0:11 you should try the part where the guy does like a spaceship solo and it sounds hella awesome.

    whatever

    AWESOME JOB MAN!

  • sweet - good feel!

  • Thanks for all the compliments!

  • WTF? Finally after endless failed attempts a non-show boat, bad ass gtr player pulls it off!!! Hell Yeah!

  • yeaaa every other attempt was pathetic, its nice to see someone humble their guns and just play the fucking thing proper.

  • Your's is the closest out on youtube. You Rock!

  • Thank you so much man! Much appreciated!

  • good job man

  • Iam a member there to, but ive never found any as good as that.....seems everyone has midi tracks.Iam just looking for as close to real as possiable, and then i`ll post some stuff on youtube to:) thanks, keep it up!

  • Strange?!?:/

Ironically, I haven't found but "maybe" a couple of midi tracks. All the rest have been really good quality.

  • Killer!! were did you get the backing tracks????

  • guitarbt is the site.

They've got backing tracks for EVERYTHING! Well, almost.

I plan to redo this solo once I find a cheap laser gun. I can then do those effects like Steve Stevens.

    Thanks!

    "J"

  • what laser gun did billy use to create the effect when he put it next to his guitar pickup and the gun's sounds echoed thru the guitar amp what song was that he did that in

  • That song is actually Rebel Yell. I plan to repost and use a laser gun to achieve that effect.

  • its cool how Billy Idol knows that put a laser toy gun next to his guitar and it makes all those cool noises its the RF interference from the chip in the toy gun being picked up by his guitar pickups

  • Actually you would be referring to Steve Stevens, his guitarist. You should check out his other stuff like Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys or some stuff he did with Michael Jackson...he uses that effect a lot.

  • And if you're referring to how he actually got the sound in the first place, you'd be referring to a Lexicon PCM-41 or 42 digital delay.

  • If it's worth anything, James Iha from the Smashing Pumpkins does actually put a toy gun next to his guitar pickups in 'Silverfuck' on the Vieuphoria DVD. I don't know if it's actually the interference as mentioned above, or if he is using a delay pedal and just holding the toy gun for show.
