PS3 would run this best of the 3 platforms - if they write to the custom libs and not just try 'quick-port' like most publishers do. XBox will battle with the processing, so no surprise they dropped that. Supercharged PC's would be ok, buts that's out of many's reach. But the key here is this company was bought out by Intel a year ago, so they're likely going to be "favouring" certain h/w --- its all marketing - release a top game title that works best on Z-chip, and Z-chip sales go ballistic.
Very likely Intel would only run it on a PC, why would they want to use the better graphics library of the PS3 to run it better than on most PC's ... that would go against the reason they bought Offset out.

It's very easy to get a nice beefy computer. Especially when games nowadays are like required to work on the HD consoles. Then they ran at Higher Resolutions on PC.

This is being developed for the PC platform only, because the PS3, and 360 are pretty much old now. It's true. This engine is pushing it to the next level, for a next-gen game. Right now, 360/PS3 are Current Gen.
Only a computer can render an image that good with the highest specs. If you guys honestly think the Xbox 360 or PS3 can render this smoothly you have to be kidding. The chance of them porting this to the consoles is slim. Only a PC can handle such power :)

Doubt it. The game may look somewhat better than Crysis, but the game's engine is designed not only to make the game look good in general, but also to help reduce system usage. For example, the engine is capable of rendering characters that would normally require millions of polygons by using only a few thousand polygons. This definitely helps to reduce ram usage cpu/gpu power usage.

Well, kotaku, i think it was, tried to run it on "Very High" graphics settings using no less than THREE GTX8800 cards on a single rig. They only pushed it up to a measly 30fps...
This looks a lot liek it follows crYtek and crysis' way of thinking "okay, lets just go nuts and make a game that challenges computers for 5 years to come"
They've said in their FAQ that the game is coming out for PC and Xbox 360, though I got a strong feeling that it will come out for the PS3 aswell, and in most cases it's not the publisher who decides what platform the game will be released on, it's the developer!
Sorry to say for you it is the publisher wich determines how many for wich platforms they're gonna make. They're the ones who have all the money, so they make the calls.
It's the developer who has most control over what platform it's getting released on, if the developer only has programmed the game for let's say the PC the publisher will be a total jackass if they want it on more platforms, trust me i've developed games a little bit over 8 years!
That sounds retarded. If a publisher thinks that a game has generated enough buzz to make it for more consoles they will do it. If the studios that is making the game doesn't have enough time to do it, a other developer will be sent on it. Where the hell did ya work then?
I was effects animator on Black & White and Black & White 2 for Lionhead Studios, plus the expansions Creature Isle and Battle of the Gods from 1999 to may 2006 and now i'm doing freelance work for misc developers. And we only worked on Black and White for PC and Macintosh and they were only released on those two platforms, some time after I left they hired a small developing group to make Black and White 2 for Macintosh, but it wasn't EA who hired the guys it was my old workplace who did that!
at th moment its not coming to PS3 or 360 ...PC is the only platform that could support that cuz you can keep upgrading it.anyone with a beginners of computer common knowledge knows that much.
It is coming for PC only @ the moment, cause the Grafik engine is based on DirectX10 smooth shadows etc. And they will test it on the new Nvidia GF8800, 8600 and 8500 I think it is coming only for pc, eventually for XB360 and PS3

I'm a software engineer, so I'm not going to let you tell me what You think is right. haha.
1) - Many people have G80 cores, or even better.
2) - When you get into LCD TV's and so on, it's about the same.
3) - This will run fine and look good on something that's not near as powerful as the G80 Core, it's more about memory usage.
4) - Yes, same for xbox, but that's incredibly expensive to do, unless you have someone like sony behind your development/production.

1) Currently around 10% of 'gamers' have 8800's ... thats hardly 'many'
2) You're forgetting about the expensive PC needed to make good use of the G80
3) No it won't. Anything less than a good 8800 card on good hardware will not run this as good as a PS3 etc.
4) Why should Sony be behind it? ... the developer pays for dev and gets millions of sales.

Wrong again. This is being developed for the Intel platform, because it will sell more Intel hardware.
Before this is out you will all have upgraded your PC hardware (yet again). Had it been PS3 ... you'd still have the same 4 year old box.
As for 'next gen' this project has been in development 5 years ... in that time you've prob upgraded yr PC a few times already.
Whats it matter how old a PS3 is? At 1080p no-one can complain about graphics.
