There's no evidence that Diane Linkletter was under the influence of any drug at the time of her death. Her father, Art Linkletter, was the one who suggested this before any evidence or an autopsy was performed. Personally, I think it was easier for Art to blame the drugs for her demise than to admit that she may have had depression and to tarnish the family name with history of mental illness. In those days, depression was often overlooked and swept under the rug.

Both Leary and Linkletter were somewhat right and somewhat wrong. While LSD certainly helped the creativity of some people (there probably would have been no psychedelic Beatles music without it), it was extremely harmful to others. It's hard to believe that Linkletter's life in Hollywood didn't negatively affect his daughter, which led her to taking drugs in the first place. And there are reports which state that there were no drugs in her body when she died. IMO, interviewer was fine.
