I have one of these as well, and with a 4.5ah battery and a motor that will pull 0.38 amps, she will sail for 11 hours, put in a 12ah battery, expect 31hours!!
@Xantec hey if u have this ship please post an out of water review of the boat and show the controller it comes with and have a size comparison i have subbed u.i am thinking of buying this boat thanks
@Xantec thanks for the information but i only a beginer to rc boats and i think ill stay away from this model. is there any full set u could recomend me for a beginer like me and i was looking at you southampton tug boat of yours is that a good starter set.im not new to rc i already have 2 rc helicopters but now want to try out boats :)
though Graupner say this is an "expert kit", if you have ever built a tamiya or Airfix 1/72 plane, then this will be easy to build.
as a beginner, have a look at the Graupner neptun, BUT i had my sydney star from box to water in 16 days with 90 percent of the work done in the first 48 hours, the deck, container stacks, super structure are all pre-cut so you just pop them off the master sheets...
...southampton tug is rtr but can be modded (like i did) to give it enhanced manouvrability. you may notice mine has different rudders to other southampton models, thats cos she got dropped, landing on her rudders.
neptun is a kit, you get the basic hull deck and super structure, which you have to assemble from vac-form mouldings, there is some trimming involved in this but its quite theraputic!
you then need to buy a reciever, motor, servo, battery and a speed controller, but its an easy build.
Southampton tugboat is a boat in a box, just buy 8x AA cells, charge the 7.2v pack over night and add water!
The maximum speed with the original motor is much higher as it would look real for this kind of ship. The speed in this video is around 40% of the max. possible speed. The Sydney Star has a lot of capacity to carry enough batteries. You could put so much batteries on this ship that you would be able to cruise a few days with it @Maistofreak
May i know that is it very hard to build?

@MultiNAZIzombies
i did a build log of my one "celestia" on rcgroups :)
it doesnt come with a controller, you have to buy that. To complete the kit, you need:
2x Graupner bow thrusters
1x 500e motor
3x speed controllers
1x battery 4.5ah - 12ah 6 volt (for weight more than anything else)
lead or steel tyre weights
standard servo.
