I believe that those two units outside is called an air condensor. Air condensors are placed outside the cabin to help keep the condensation out and circulate warm to cool cycle in the coils. Ha... Always check the electrical system like fuses, boards, fans before you up the cash.
Way to go Chris! This is a good way to start weeding out potential crooks in the HVAC field. You should definitely try setting up down over here in McAllen, Tx. You wont believe your eyes at what you might see.
This is why I don't call an A/C tech. I fix my A/C problems myself. Of course I have a Ruud system, so it never breaks down, it just needs it's annual service and cleaning.
