  • they had 3 good albums and the rest is crap. now they look like they shoot gay porn on the side and sound like it too

  • This band exhibited both the gritty crunch of the grunge movement and the "pop"ish mentality at the same time. That's likely why they are associated with Nirvana, or at least the only reason they should be. Nirvana (Nevermind in particular) was famous for that. Other than that, these two bands are vastly different. Kurt had a great voice, but Daniel has a completely different and more dynamic voice. Two different ends of the awesome spectrum.

  • C'mon abuse me more I like it.....can't help but picturing Daniel saying that to me with the lights down real low. uhh huhh :)

  • @Dansilverbabe haha ive seen at least one of ur comments on so many silverchair videos :P

  • @supermonkeyman12 lol yea i've been told that before..Daniel is in my blood! :p

  • Daniel Johns has a gift for melody, it matters not whether he copied some one's style or not, this is simply GOOD music.

  • 1999 was the best chair year:)

  • wow,daniel sounds amazing here

  • silverchair sounds like nirvana. but whats the matter? if someone would settle my music with nirvana i would be really happy. It would be a privileg!

  • @MrWespe I don't think they sound like Nirvana. "FRogstomp" sounds like Pearl Jam (voice) and Soundgarden (music).

  • His voice is pretty amazing here... make me come back on my teenage era... so glad them to make part of my life history forever... thanks. Wish they come back with this huge rock sound soon...

  • I love His Voice sooo SEXY

  • i think this was when silverchair had finally found their sound, their place, and own signature as a recogniseable band, indeed.

  • This guy has more talent in his index finger than kurt cobain ever had.

  • but Kurt had the gift...

  • He did have a gift but depression and addiction got the better of him.

  • yea sadly...r u a nirvana fan or more into silverchair??

  • I listened to Nirvana a LOT when I was in my teens and in high school. I'm 22 now and have moved on with my tastes in music but I have a younger sister who now loves Nirvana :)

  • i LOVE Nirvana too. and SILVERCHAIR!

  • Was this show released on DVD?

  • Before he sings 'Point of View' he says it was recorded for Channel V, thats an Aussie music station. i guess it was just aired on tv. Iv tried looking for the full concert footage, but these clips are as close as i can get. Hope that helped

  • omfg love this song

  • EVERYBODY FUCKING JUMP !

  • grewg

  • I really firmly believe, they all came from the same musicial influences, which is why they all have the same raw sound. If people know anything about grunge...they would understand. Not putting anyone down, but i'm a huge huge Kurt fan, but at the same time, i've been in love with silverchair since Frog Stomp came out. So, basically...you can't really compare to musicians, each have their talents, and flaws. So just sit back, and enjoy the amazing music of the grunge era =)

  • why does people say he is a cobain-faker. so every boy who's blonde and let his hair grow is a cobain-faker? silverchair doesn't even sound like nirvana.

  • I have to agree here.

Frogstomp was heavily grunge-influence (but then, all music borrows from other music, although Frogstomp/grunge was pronounced), but Freak Show's grunge influence was minimal.

  • omg I totally agree with you!

  • @WwoEvarr

    true man.

  • @WwoEvarr they sound a lot like nirvana in their FreakShow album...abuse me/rape me? Lie to me/Tourette's??? Petrol and chlorine/Lithium(they dont sound similar but the title)???

And i like both bands, don't hate on silverchair at all, but it would be stupid to deny it.

  • I don't care if he did or not drugs as long as he makes good music and he is fine today. That's what matters.

  • I love nirvana and silverchair, and sure on the frogstomp album you can hear a slight grunge influence - but thats where music was at around that time, silverchair have evolved and changed.

Dan is a fantastic musician, brilliant composer.

Stop bitching about who is better, in the end they are both ground breaking bands, music shouldnt be a competition

  • Actually daniel was not influenced by Kurt, he didnt like nirvana. He liked Pearl Jam and he wanted to sound live eddie vedder.

  • thats not true either he they listened to classic rock like black sabbath, KISS, Led Zeppelin and bands like that, all those grunge bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Silverchair all sound kinda similar because they all liked the same bands

  • Daniel Johns has always been a genius with ever evolving musical creativity! Sure he did pot and what not, but Kurt Cobain was just an overrated, glorified, drug addict! Daniel Johns deserves the respect that Cobain fool gets... <3

  • everyone could talk about whether ppl like nirvana or silverchair better, but the fact of the matter is that daniel johns was influenced by kurt and that is easily seen throughout songs like freak and abuse me. without nirvana there would be no silverchair

  • do caralho

  • do caralho

  • do caralho

  • do caralho

  • minister of hate your a fucking idiot

    period

  • why cuz I dont think Kurt Cobain is better than Daniel Johns Big Fucking deal??? And with a screen name to do with a shitty fucking pop star singer it shows your tastes are sooooo fucking good.

  • whats he saying at 1:50..hes always saying stuff during his songs lol gotta love dan <3

  • he said "everybody fuckin jump"

    love dj

  • his voice never ceases to astound me. no matter how many years and how many times i listen to the same songs. it's incredible.

  • miles better than nirvana

  • too right.

  • No one is more talented then Kurt but I agree silverchair is good

  • Kurt talented? ok, I respect your opinion

  • of course kurt was talented. do some research, listen to his music. though I don't like the neverending comparisons between silverchair and nirvana their singers have quite something in common - surpassing intelligence, sharp sense of humor and great talent.

  • I dont like yellow, maybe my you like it, but I aint gonna tell you to try other colours, u know what I mean? bless ya!

  • you don't have to like it but saying that he's got no talent is just not true. that's all - no offence.

  • I dont remember saying that his got no talent...can u show me that? do not put words in my mouth please!

  • what's "kurt talented? ok, I respect your opinion" supposed to mean then?

  • ok..just to get it straight...let us not take suppositions as asured things...they are totaly different...maybe i was just in doubt bout his talet...maybe not...who knows? that's the reason of my question. Period! heheh...hugs!

  • va bene

  • Kurt is over-rated Daniel is better than him! he has way more vocal range and is way more diverse. Sure Kurt came first and changed a nation but at least Daniel fought all his health battles and problems and didnt blow his head off and take the easy way out. IF daniel would of killed himself in the peak of his depression im sure everyone would put Daniel on a pedistool as well instead everyone criticizes him for his new look and sound small price to grow up mature and not kill yourself I say :)

  • I think it's going a bit far to say kurt changed a nation. This nation's about the same as it was before nirvana happened.

  • if you say so Smells like Teen Spirit changed ALOT of shit... I know cuz I was there for it all.... Tomorrow and Freak didnt change shit HAHA but still I like those songs alot better

  • It was a fricken album, not a sea change in the social, political or economic system.

  • hey im not even a nirvana fan anymore I havent been one since 97 but I do know when music changes the world... Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson that shit changed the world (lol) The Marshall Mathers LP that shit changed the world... Sure not like WWII or the Great Depression... But still one album by one artist can do alot at the right time. Now even though I like Silverchair WAY more then Manson, Eninem and Nirvana put together, but One album by Silverchair didnt make that kind of impact

  • Oh, yeah. My life's totally differrent since antichrist superstar. I think the world used to spin in a different direction before that right?

Maybe a few music scenes changed, but that's it. It's pop music. Not a cure for cancer, and end to war or a vaccine for aids.

  • it doesnt take that much to change a fucking scene or culture.... So you are gonna tell me The Fucking Beatles or The Sex Pistols didnt change jack shit?

  • The sex pistols were a group manufactured and marketed to take advantage of an existing scene.

Anyway, I conceded to the change in a music scene. I'm saying the world wasn't changed. The world is a lot bigger than the music scene.

  • thats true but I dont look at things like you do.... Things dont have to be that big of an impact for it to change the world in a small way.... Sure no music changes the world like a big war, or 9/11, or HIV or the invention of the television. But still I think some band have changed shit in small ways... like NWA RAGE SKINNY PUPPY ETC

  • @caduteacher i wouldnt say better but different in a good way

  • @caduteacher hey hey...calm down boy....silverchair is one of my favorite bands...but if exist a band that nirvana cant touch is alice in chains...or soundgarden...the rest...nirvana is fucking powerfull.

  • Absolute Perfection

  • another yr1999 , melbourne best gig ever.daniel yer a spunk
