i know a lot of people enjoy the eu, + that's cool, i enjoy some of it too, but it's was never canon. + if i have to make a choice between whether the movies are right or the novels based on the movies, it's a pretty easy choice. apologies (for real) for any offense to eu fans.
@taffysaur You obviously don't understand what I'm saying. What I meant is that with the Clone Wars series (and movie) he's abandoning and in a lot of cases changing previous work in favour of new things that will just make him more profit; profit that goodness knows he doesn't need...
@SpecialAgentRavage well i admit i've not seen much of the clone wars yet (+ will further concede i don't at all like the idea of maul being alive) but what i object to is people cynically jumping right to "colossal cash grab".
i can say i liked the movie very very much, + can confidently say that it abandons nothing heretofore established onscreen.
@taffysaur To put things simply, if I were to list off all the continuity flaws of Clone Wars I would run out of room in the comment.
I wont deny the movie and first season have some great moments (like the episode Rookies, great focus on regular clones) and when that was all we had I considered it great as a stand alone, but terrible as canon.
Bottom line is that it is a cash grab. He didn't have to make the series, and he already had canon between ep 2 & 3, so why else would he do it? Money.
@SpecialAgentRavage again, you're making assumptions then basing your conclusions on them.
i said i like the movie. i want to see the show. i want the live-action show to find a network. that's why he'd do it. no, he doesn't have to, you're right. + i'm surprised he does w/the constant stream of irrational hate he gets for it, but i'm glad he does continue.
w/the caveat that i've not seen many episodes, keep in mind what 'continuity' means. if it contradicts some lame eu shit, all the better.
@taffysaur And you keep in mind what "EU" means. It stands for "Expanded Universe", or in other words expanding the story of Star Wars outside the 6 original movies. So by definition, the very things you're trying to defend is, as you put it, "eu shit".
@SpecialAgentRavage i know what it's called, but that's not exactly a definition of what it is. do i really need to explain the difference?
me liking the star wars movies doesn't mean i have to defend everything ever conceived of in that universe. in fact i hate most of it. they're just stories from the minds of others (sci-fi writers. i like sci-fi okay but i prefer sci-fantasy. that's why i'm watching star wars + not star trek) to give something to the fans. it's sanctioned fan-fic.
@xxxOrcaman4xxx are you thick? are actually that thick? it's his franchise, he created it and the clone wars series, gave the go-ahead on everything, and is only the bleeding executive producer! as the creator and exec he makes all the important decisions. it's his license, everything goes through him, he's responsible
@taffysaur Fortunately Mr. Lucas is retiring soon, so we won't have to worry about him making further changes. That is if he doesn't go back and "retcon" his decision to retire...

@SpecialAgentRavage It wasn't his idea for Rex. He wanted a clone from the 2003 series named Alpha.
