  • the most amazing thing about your music is, that you'd recognize it out of a billion other tracks.. all your sounds have an unique flavour :) keep spreading the word of real electronic music simon!!

    cheers, simon - switzerland ..

  • @royalsunday2007 Thanks man, I really appreciate that..

  • great work sounds awesome.

  • did you use ableton to trigger the virus?

  • hey man, first the praise: good job! I have a 909 myself and know what a bitch it can be to get on with it. In fact I´m barely using it anymore.. Now to the question: the delay effect of the virus: Would it be possible with any virus or is it specific to the desktop ti?

    greets from germany =)

  • @bettlar Hey man, thanks for the comment - sorry for the late reply! The delay is possible on all Viruses I think - I had a Virus classic before (basically a newer Virus B) and it had the same effect. Although the new TI models have the tape delay as well which is a nice addition. BUt yeah, they all have that pitched delay... :]

  • @siedgey thx =) i might go and try to trade the 909 vs a virus.. keep up the good work!

  • oh wauw !!

verry nice, this is techno !!!

  • adjad oda

  • Hey simon, as always this sounds great ! i have a question and i hope you can answer me quick due to me purchasing this in about a week but i need to know , i'm looking to get this for creation of hats , percussion and maybe some kicks but i need to know if this machine is quality enough to were the sounds can be tweeked into c.d. quality sounds ? do you use this for your recording ? i mainly make trance , electro , house do you recommend ? Thanks brother ! you rock !!!!!

  • @Flipjunkie1 Really sorry about the late reply! I guess that you're talking about eh Virus rather than the 909? The Virus is absolutely amazing man - best digital synth out there I think...BUY IT NOW.

  • @siedgey Nope , i was talking about the 909 . I already have a virus ti desktop and it is the love of my life but i was thinking about getting a drum box but decided against it . thanks for your reply anyways bro

  • @gememasterxxl Haha I just translated this comment, thank you for this crazy rant...it made me smile. :]

  • very nice for a warm up .

  • @dgilunit Haha I'd love to hear your peak time..

  • I have to say hardware is the most fun but producing on the computer is much more practical.

  • Very nice!!

  • i like this status.

  • Great job man! I turned it up and i was literally dancing!! One quick question: Is the Virus being driven by the Mc via MIDI, and if so which part bass line, drum kick, melody?

    Keep it up bro!

  • Amazing Work! keep it on mate!

  • yeah!

  • Is sampler in this 909 any good ? Just to throw some drum loops or few vocals. Great stuff BTW.

  • nice. im not into techno, but i like your setup.

  • absolutely incredible

i would LOVE to start working with hardware

i know that software might be better in a few ways

but i hate all that clicking, i dont even have a midi controller :(

I would LOVE to get my hands on a MC-808 or 909

    but i have little money . . . (cry)

  • I love that vibe ;) do you have some recording sessions of these vids in mp3 somewhere to be downloaded?????

(didn't see any on your soundcloud...?)

    cheers

  • I love that vibe ;) do you have some recording sessions of these vids in mp3 somewhere to be downloaded?????

(didn't see any on your soundcloud...?)

    cheers

  • Amazing sounds and beat!Good timing...Youre really good man!!

  • cool

  • You want to talk redundant, pointless? This is it.

  • bellissimo!

  • I would love to know your production process, this is amazing. I always get stuck creating loops

  • Yamaha SU700 here, turn those knobs and slide those faders :)

  • spakka il culo

  • oh wow. bro, this sounds amazing. on a scale of 1 to 10 how would u rate the MC-909?

  • Fucking hell!!!!

  • me wants to get infected....i need t get ill with a virus....me has mc 505, DSI evolver, a stack of controllers for ableton, ni massive, and some other good softsynths, and reason, but god dam, i just love the sound of the virus,

well, i like the sounds you are getting out of it....nice techno man, i m hoping i can write like good choons too, but nap, just mediocre ones...oh well, i will keep doin it, for it is fun no matter how good you are eh,

    keep it up bro

  • @hoodwink808

It isnt the kit mate. Its the person behind it. If your talented you will get there but never make the mistake of buying the same gear as someone else and thinking job done.

  • @kolakube123 .. yeah, i hear ya, you make sense, perfectly..... however i still do like the sound of the virus ti, i seem to be hearing them a lot of late.

they remain too expensive for me tho, and thankfully i enjoy playing with what i have,

and i feel i am slowly improving.... trying to find my own style too i guess,

  • @hoodwink808

It can take years to find a style mate. And its amazing what you can ring out of simple kit. Stick at it, you sound keen enough.

A much simpler and less powerful but far cheaper version of the kit simon uses here would be a Novation Nova or Virus B.

Personally I had a Ti and hated it. Cant say its a poor synth though, I mean lots of people get superb results from them but its not the right tool for me at all. One man meat tho is another mans poison.

    WIsh you success.

  • That is so hypnotic & relaxing.

  • you make all of this look soo easy grrrrr

    Just Brilliant!

You got any crazy nights coming up soon!?

  • Really cool video, maybe a bit classical techno for me, but your controll over your hardware is awsome, great job!

  • GOOD WORK MAN!!!!!

  • inspiring and awesome. I've been wanting to start my own weekly webcast of live 'hand made' techno in San Diego. What kind of camera did you use?

  • @memeshift Hi there man, thanks for the comment - really glad you enjoyed it! I just recorded this on my Samsung ST500 digital camera and sync'd up the audio using a video editing program. Hope that helps, let me know when your webcast is up! Cheers, Simon

  • out of interest why do you use the 909 when you have got ableton? do you just prefer to perform with just hardware or do you use both together all the time?

    Peace

    Brian

  • @sacredgeometry Thanks for the comment - I generally use the 909 and my synths to rough out a track as it is a whole load of fun! Then I would use Ableton to record and produce the rest of the track if it's worthy of release. But in general, I just prefer hardware... :]

  • @siedgey :) thats fair enough, i love my virus too :) ive the same one its a beast so i cant blame you for liking hardware :D

  • @siedgey

    The only way to work...

    : )

  • Instantly Inspiring!

  • krasse beats junge... ;)

  • cool man!

what you control wh the value rotary?

  • @aliencall Thanks for watching! I can't quite remember what the exact settings I had it on but it sounds like it was just going straight to LFO1 controlling the OSC1 / OSC2 pitch - always good to fiddle around with the soft knobs..

  • @siedgey Really should've rephrased that last bit..

  • @siedgey Yeah, usually its only fun to fiddle with the hard ones.

Keep up the music.. and keep the hardware.. cos soft knobs are no fun :P

  • @cartesiaLive Haha, thanks for waitching! :]

  • @cartesiaLive Oddly I use abbleton and have more knobs, sliders etc at my disposal than he does on his :) part of the joy of software is there is actually a shit ton of hardware to use with it :)

  • good stuff for live work....

  • this is the shit!

  • techno !!! great stuff man

  • top hast es drauf ;)

  • dope

  • Very Nice man!!!!!!

  • wow i love it !

  • I like the sound at 3:32

  • that was cool :)

  • Nice work. Is that a CS6x over there in the far right? I've got an MC-505, a Virus TI2, and a CS6x, so it seems like you and I might like similar kit.

  • @spindlenine Sorry for the late reply! Hehe it is indeed a CS6x - you have good taste in synths my man.

  • which desk mixer do you have?

  • Do you mean for production? I don't use a mixer at the moment - I have a Folio F1 and a couple of others but I am just using an EMU 1820-M soundcard just now for all my inputs.

  • thanks for answer. very good performance. i have a mc808 ;) but i hope get a virus ti2 soon. Is the ti2 the same as the t1 but better?, greetings and best regards in this christmas

  • boring

  • :-)

  • This is Great Stuff man! please say ur signed to a label? :D

  • Thanks a lot for the comment! You can find a load of my tracks on Beatport / iTunes etc on various labels if you're interested..! Cheers for watching.

  • great "Stop Clone Music" great Simooooooon

  • Dude this is really really really awesome!

Especially the Mc-909 ... the real deal in drumcomputers.

  • where can i get a mc-909

  • Great work man! love it! But when you talk about the unavailable sidechain, you mean that the virus doesn't take it in charge?

  • Thanks for watching and for the comment! All I was meaning was that the 909 doesn't have a compressor that allows side-chaining and since the entire track was produced using only the 909 and the Virus, all that was available was the 909's effects.

  • You using the Atomizer on that TI 2 in this track?

  • excellent work mate!! wonderful perfomance, keep it up!

  • very good track, but i think it needs bit of side compression

  • Thanks man, unfortunately the hardware doesn't allow side-chain compression - would have been nice on this track I agree!

  • what is side compression

  • Side-Chaining is often known as ducking - basically you put a compressor ona track, and then feed a signal into the compressor (eg a kick drum). Then, by pulling the threshold down the compressor will squash that track only when the kick drum plays. It was a classic staple in old skool french house and techno but is used all the time now in all music. Check out Together - So Much Love To Give when the kick drum comes in, you'll hear the whole track being squashed as the kick plays. Cheers!

  • Love when it hits at 2 mins.

  • my man u have got me into production have picked up an rm1x there on d cheap already loving the feel of production.any advice going forward regarding equipment and any general advice and how long u being at this.i shall be purchasing some of ur tunes.keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for the comment man - really glad that you have decided to get into the production side of things! The rm1x is lovely..I would say just learn the rm1x inside out - read the manual! That's important. When the time comes for new gear you'll know that you need it. Get some stuff up on YouTube so we can all see it and help you along the way..

  • Hey man, as usual nice live track (pure awesomeness). I need a Virus TI2, I'm jealous - 5* for you.

  • ..and 5* for you for your awesome comment. Thanks man, glad you like it! The TI2 is a beast - I worry when I'm sleeping at night that it might slip into bed next to me and gets its revenge for the brutal knob twiddling I give it!
