the most amazing thing about your music is, that you'd recognize it out of a billion other tracks.. all your sounds have an unique flavour :) keep spreading the word of real electronic music simon!!
hey man, first the praise: good job! I have a 909 myself and know what a bitch it can be to get on with it. In fact I´m barely using it anymore.. Now to the question: the delay effect of the virus: Would it be possible with any virus or is it specific to the desktop ti?
@bettlar Hey man, thanks for the comment - sorry for the late reply! The delay is possible on all Viruses I think - I had a Virus classic before (basically a newer Virus B) and it had the same effect. Although the new TI models have the tape delay as well which is a nice addition. BUt yeah, they all have that pitched delay... :]
Hey simon, as always this sounds great ! i have a question and i hope you can answer me quick due to me purchasing this in about a week but i need to know , i'm looking to get this for creation of hats , percussion and maybe some kicks but i need to know if this machine is quality enough to were the sounds can be tweeked into c.d. quality sounds ? do you use this for your recording ? i mainly make trance , electro , house do you recommend ? Thanks brother ! you rock !!!!!
@Flipjunkie1 Really sorry about the late reply! I guess that you're talking about eh Virus rather than the 909? The Virus is absolutely amazing man - best digital synth out there I think...BUY IT NOW.
@siedgey Nope , i was talking about the 909 . I already have a virus ti desktop and it is the love of my life but i was thinking about getting a drum box but decided against it . thanks for your reply anyways bro

Great job man! I turned it up and i was literally dancing!! One quick question: Is the Virus being driven by the Mc via MIDI, and if so which part bass line, drum kick, melody?
me wants to get infected....i need t get ill with a virus....me has mc 505, DSI evolver, a stack of controllers for ableton, ni massive, and some other good softsynths, and reason, but god dam, i just love the sound of the virus,
well, i like the sounds you are getting out of it....nice techno man, i m hoping i can write like good choons too, but nap, just mediocre ones...oh well, i will keep doin it, for it is fun no matter how good you are eh,
It isnt the kit mate. Its the person behind it. If your talented you will get there but never make the mistake of buying the same gear as someone else and thinking job done.
@kolakube123 .. yeah, i hear ya, you make sense, perfectly..... however i still do like the sound of the virus ti, i seem to be hearing them a lot of late.
they remain too expensive for me tho, and thankfully i enjoy playing with what i have,
and i feel i am slowly improving.... trying to find my own style too i guess,
It can take years to find a style mate. And its amazing what you can ring out of simple kit. Stick at it, you sound keen enough.
A much simpler and less powerful but far cheaper version of the kit simon uses here would be a Novation Nova or Virus B.
Personally I had a Ti and hated it. Cant say its a poor synth though, I mean lots of people get superb results from them but its not the right tool for me at all. One man meat tho is another mans poison.
@memeshift Hi there man, thanks for the comment - really glad you enjoyed it! I just recorded this on my Samsung ST500 digital camera and sync'd up the audio using a video editing program. Hope that helps, let me know when your webcast is up! Cheers, Simon
out of interest why do you use the 909 when you have got ableton? do you just prefer to perform with just hardware or do you use both together all the time?
@sacredgeometry Thanks for the comment - I generally use the 909 and my synths to rough out a track as it is a whole load of fun! Then I would use Ableton to record and produce the rest of the track if it's worthy of release. But in general, I just prefer hardware... :]
@aliencall Thanks for watching! I can't quite remember what the exact settings I had it on but it sounds like it was just going straight to LFO1 controlling the OSC1 / OSC2 pitch - always good to fiddle around with the soft knobs..
@cartesiaLive Oddly I use abbleton and have more knobs, sliders etc at my disposal than he does on his :) part of the joy of software is there is actually a shit ton of hardware to use with it :)
Nice work. Is that a CS6x over there in the far right? I've got an MC-505, a Virus TI2, and a CS6x, so it seems like you and I might like similar kit.
Do you mean for production? I don't use a mixer at the moment - I have a Folio F1 and a couple of others but I am just using an EMU 1820-M soundcard just now for all my inputs.
thanks for answer. very good performance. i have a mc808 ;) but i hope get a virus ti2 soon. Is the ti2 the same as the t1 but better?, greetings and best regards in this christmas
Thanks a lot for the comment! You can find a load of my tracks on Beatport / iTunes etc on various labels if you're interested..! Cheers for watching.
Thanks for watching and for the comment! All I was meaning was that the 909 doesn't have a compressor that allows side-chaining and since the entire track was produced using only the 909 and the Virus, all that was available was the 909's effects.

Thanks for the comment man - really glad that you have decided to get into the production side of things! The rm1x is lovely..I would say just learn the rm1x inside out - read the manual! That's important. When the time comes for new gear you'll know that you need it. Get some stuff up on YouTube so we can all see it and help you along the way..
Thanks - glad you like it! The TI2 is a veritable beast, so if you thin k you are going to use it to it's full potential then it's definitely worth it! Just watch out in case it tries to finger you in the night. Dirty synth.
