this product needs the modem or router left on so that the exchange equipment can get a good idea of when the connection slows down and how much noise is on the line at a certain point, so that it can adjust the signal to noise ratio accordingly.
I need help this makes no sence i got adsl and when i go to DTCCOM website and it said the 45& once i should get 350kb/ second but i only get 70 sometimes 80 what should i do ?
Lol, I work for an ISP as a senior technician and there are a few things missed in this video like virtual paths and the bras profile on the line also if the ISP is VC based or LLU, and how the activation of an adsl package works
8 mb max 0_o you folks living in the stone age ? never hurd of dslam type 2+ l0ol adsl type 1 supports 8 mb uk must have ... telephone lines or something i always wonderded does the uk have 20mb adsl ?? hit me back TIA
most ISPs now offer up to 20Mbps (or 24Mbps) but since the infrastructure is pretty crappy, they're rolling out fibre optic circuits to the home, or to the street cabs now and should see speeds average 40Mbps (up to 100Mbps dependant on location) at an affordable price by 2012

wow what a helpful comment, perhaps you should provide more insight rather then talking about what comes out of your mouth,

@MrCabaal No. Whoever made the video needs to provide more insight and accurate information.

i agree this is bullshit also...
i think they are trying to steal your internet.. because what company tells you to turn your internet on?
all proper internet providers say turn off your internet when we are checking your internet
so wtf?

Its not a detailed explainination and is only intended for the average joe home user running on a ip-stream max line.
If you started trying to explain BRAS profiles to the average joe it would only drive calls to the ISP's support line.
You should know this from working for an ISP :)

no, 20MB is max, this video is old if you havent noticed
SOF006 1 year ago
Umm no, 20mb is LLU or ADSL2+ not Max which is 8meg. Trust me on this I've worked in the ADSL industry for too long now.

@Wizard101 Exactly what I was thinking. I'd like the video to of said about attenuration, signal to noise ratios and IP Central congestion

PLUSNET IS THE SLOWEST INTERNET PROVIDER IN THE UK AND THERE IS just 20GB USAGE LIMIT SO THINK ABOUT PLUSNET.
Aivis200 4 years ago
Think about Plusnet how?
Plusnet like many ISP's uses BT Wholesales IP-Stream product, there is no differences :)
