@RhiaProductions As I have replied multiple times already, I know this now, I did not when I made the video (which was years ago). Thank you, but I have already been informed. :)
@RhiaProductions They aren't rare, they are considered common, but their life span in so short that sighting an adult is rare. I see them all the time in my yard and around my town, but its always within a ten day period, and then they are gone.
@RhiaProductions well you were acting awfully superior to the person who made this video, telling them to do research. Maybe you should do a little for yourself. I meant the adult too. They are not rare. You were rude, you need to learn to take it on the chin, or remove your post.
@Juggernog1995 Yep, still do :D It's been three years (wow, only that long?) and I'm still going. :) (Ah, I took the video about two years prior, that explains the difference).
But yes, people still go to churches, myself being one of them.
I had one at my front door last Saturday and it scared the ba-jee-ba's out of me. I had no clue of what it was until a friend informed me. I'm glad I took a picture of such a rare and beautiful creature. We are truly blessed to have see this.
Luna moths are my favorite insect. We had a huge light outside my garage door and tons of flying bugs would always gather on the door. Every so often I'd find a luna moth. :)
it's so sad that they're lifespan is so short. they are so elegant and beautiful. it's sad. i hate it when people kill bugs on purpose. not like flys, and ants, which are pretty hard to kill anyways, but things like butterflies, moths (especially this one!), and things like that.
This moth is majestic to say the least! I just want to clearify *most* people now do not kill bugs on purpose. I both breed and mount butterflies as well as moths. With some living only a few days some living a few months it is easy to let a butterfly life out its life in full and only preserve those that have died of natural causes. And for moths like this Luna, mounting them can allow their beauty to live on past their mere 5 day life span. :)
Once in science class in my freshman year at high school, a teacher caught one of these and brought it in to show us. It was very cool, even better than the Cabbage White butterflies they were raising. That evening she let it go.

Actualy they only live for half a month and they're easy to find if you have a female to lure them over with it's pheramones.

Beautiful! It's sad they only live for about 1 week. Adults don't have mouth as they don't eat anything.

For me, people that kills bugs on purpose should not be friends with other people. They should change their way.
