  • @Togaparty - no, not a chance. I'm an audiophile and found the foobar dynamic range meter registers around 3, which is terrible. The waveform was pegged almost the entire time, and that points to terrible production/mastering. I do like the tunes, but playing that CD on a quality rig is painful. This was meant for cheap cd players and iPods. Sorry, but this isn't an opinion, but fact. Hopefully they'll get their act together for the next release.

  • kind of the pains of being of pure at heart, very good band!

    Yuck is better!

  • Great song off a very good record, but the recording quality is terrible. They need to get serious about production in the studio.

  • @TheMuzicnut I think the quality was intentionally suppose to sound that way, it gives them a unique style, and if it wasn't I don't think they should change it. It does get annoying when you can't really understand what they're singing but it still sounds pretty good. :)

  • Compare the start of this with the start of Friday I'm In Love by The Cure.

A great band despite the fact that all of their songs sound like other songs that existed before them. Maybe that's too harsh.. but when i hear song by them it always reminds me of another song.

  • 0000000 LIKE

  • there hasn't been a band like yuck for years.

  • Yuck are so great they've got such a different sound and great ideas, so looking foward to there next album!

  • @Sant182 illana blumberg

  • jsghdfxgskjuhdl

  • Kinda reminds me of Schizophrenia by Sonic Youth.

  • SWEET... it's like Dinosaur Jr. combined with The Cure in their prime!

  • @metallicakixtotalass Oh and a bit of New Pornographers

  • CHECK OUT GRMLN ON FACEBOOK AND BANDCAMP

    GRMLN

  • *yesterday I felt so old*.....oh wait ..wrong song

  • i like them a lot, but i LOVED cajun dance party

  • Yo La Tengo!

  • 2:29 it's trying to signal something to us...

  • I just uploaded a cover of Yuck's "Shook Down". If youre addicted to this band like i am, it might be worth your time (:

  • sounds a little wishy washy.

  • die manne hebben echt hunne eigen sound echt zaleg

  • This is a really cool song! Although, that begining riff reminds me a lot of "Friday I'm In Love" by The Cure.

  • @klayer9 It sounds more like "In between days" from The Cure I reckon!

  • @klayer9 Well, you deserve a premium for this., this week a Brazilian MTV's program asked "From which band Yuck has used the guitar riff in their first single 'Georgia'?" The Prize was a Yuck vinyl. Go ask your share, you helped the producer of the show.

  • @ounico It's Friday I'm Love of Robert Smith from The Cure!!!

  • bought the album yesterday....loving it.

  • Yuck are absolutely brilliant.

This song really reminds me of early The Cure.

  • Mark Hoppus told me these guys are cool.

I think you guys sound cool too.

  • @EllosYoutubification

    FUCK Mark Hoppus

  • awesome track and video!

  • Just bought their album last week and loving it. Check out my bands new single at this channel. I find we some similarities to what Yuck's style and I think you'll enjoy it!

  • Enjoying this, check out 'Windings' classic 90s sounding Poor in Mouth.../watch?v=Tf9je5CZSE0

  • who else gets a Dinosaur Jr. vibe from these guys...don't get me wrong, this is beyond bad-ass!!

  • When the music ends, you can just say: Amen.

  • i need a show with Bass Drum of Death opening for Yuck

  • All music is influenced by/sounds like something else.

  • @SpaceTasteMedical Thats what i immediately thought as well

  • yuck! this band is disgusting!

  • noise wont cover up that youre shit, and dont compare that to dinosaur jr or sonic youth, this is just bad

  • @shithead2415 u mad

  • Best bands from the UK, Yuck and The Rifles

  • winning!

  • Smashing Pumpkins/My Bloody Valentine esque?

  • I smell a rip off

  • This is terrible... when would you actually listen to this music, its no use for driving, its no use for a party ..although im sure all the "trendy" bars will be playing it in no time. Just really fucking boring

  • @DugEatinBeetroot I don't know about you, but for me music isn't just a background for driving or a party. I listen to this song 'cos it's catchy as shit.

  • @FourteenOfHearts I gave two examples just to get the point across that i dont find it has any real place, so much else I would rather listen to - of course this is just my opinion, Im sure there must be people who think this music is fantastic - its just no for me. - they were on that jools holland a wee while ago, didnt think they were up to much even as a live band

  • @DugEatinBeetroot

WRONG. All music has a place. If a track can fit to one persons life even for a moment, it has value. Don't be so ridiculously pragmatic.

  • @rajivk91 lmao, how can an opinion be wrong? I didnt state any facts - your an absolute idiot, stop commenting on every post that you dont like

  • @DugEatinBeetroot

    *you're

  • too fuzzy, can't hear the words

  • Comment removed

  • @tingtongmacad1 it's not a scene when they are all from completely different places lol

  • @tingtongmacad1 Also, Its not a new scene, its a 90's scene revived by new kids.

  • @tingtongmacad1 its not a new scene. bringin' back vintage stufff has been in since the 90s. heh..

  • @tingtongmacad1 and also arctic monkeys-hellcat spangled shalalala

  • I love Yuck! I've met it through Goo MTV Brazil!

  • best song of the year?

  • WHO CARES IF THEY HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED BY MY BLOODY VALENTINE AND DINOSAUR JR, NEW MUSIC HAS TO COME OUT, WE CAN'T KEEP LIVING WITH OUR BELOVED BANDS OF THE THE 70S 80S AND 90S WE NEED TO MOVE ON SOMETIME AND GET OUR OWN GENERATION OF MUSIC, NOW SUCK IT UP AND JUST ACCEPT IT FOR ONCE.

  • @PurpleScreech: Amen.

  • @rockafella563 Haha, thank you. It's true though, being inspired doesn't imply you are discrediting a band. I bet most of here listen to the 90s, 80s, 70s, and the 60s. It's not a bad thing, but what will we tell our kids? There will be no sense of anything being our own.

  • Comment removed

  • @PurpleScreech check out Sprouts!!!

  • @PurpleScreech I love yuck and alot of new music but we alread have our own generation of music in Dubstep/electronic music.

  • @jaffabeans I refuse to share that part of my generation of music with my kids (when I get them). I've tried my hardest to listen to dubstep and electronic music, but I can't hear anything musically pleasing in those songs. Yuck is a band I'd be proud of showing my kids, saying "In my day there were some great bands that emerged from the ashes of the old, continuing their legacy in the greatest ways: by creating music with inspiration from them."

  • @bryguy2049 haha why not ? The underground music scene is all about electronic music and has been for the past few years, just check out Rinse FM/ BBC1 Xtra. Check out Burial, and Maya jane coles. Also there are some great new guitar based artists like Caribou/metronomy/goyte. Obviously this is all opinion, but joy division and the velvet underground where almost completely disregarded back in thier zeitgast and only with hindsight and years they became realised.

  • @jaffabeans Well okay, I guess I was kind of broad with my comment. Electric music can be done right. When I was younger I was obsessed with Daft Punk. Though, you point out that underground music in your comment, and I'm usually okay with that. It's the mainstream stuff that I really don't care about. It's all boring, or not pleasing to the ears at all. It's just there to be there and make money, and that's what kind of disappoints me.

  • @jaffabeans the underground scene is not what you think it is the underground music scene well the proper one doesn't even use computers to record they make 20 copies of an album and then you have to copy it from one of those check out milk music they've been uploaded by fans so you can actually listen to them

  • saw them open for tame impala in Seattle! they were awesome live.. the leading man stopped and ate a banana between songs.

  • yeah, I know what you mean, this song makes me remember all the times I took the ferry to Bainbridge Island from Seattle, and there were seagulls eating the wind and the sky was so crisp and salty, made me want to drink hot cocoa and earl grey tea, burn my tongue, though and then Winslow came up and the books were great, I munched up their words and laughed with my Grandma and Grandpa while we ate filet mignon...

  • Heard about them through word of mouth. Definitely not disappointed.

  • i just saw these guys open for tame impala last night @webster hall in NYC. i didnt know them just came to see T.I. but now i wish i would have seen more of them. i like the sound.

  • I don't understand why everyone hates on this band. Personally, I think they're great.

  • by that i mean she bangs the drums

  • sounds like sally cinnamon by the stone roses

  • the percussion in this will drive you nuts on headphones hahah

  • @1988cmd

    You're shit.

  • why can't it be summer already?

  • did they used to be cajun dance party?

  • @DrAbeGelly 2/4 of them yes, the lead singer of cajun being the singer/guitarist of this band and the bassist of cajun became the lead guitarist of this band. it definitely has some of their flavor in their acoustic songs huh? :)

  • @DrAbeGelly yeah, well two of the members used to be in Dance party i think!

  • Like Dinosaur Jr! With less interesting drums.. -____-

  • early 90´s revival music ! Finally, the magic and the wonderful music celebrations are coming back!

  • Read about guys in Spin Magazine this is a badass song

  • I like this happier spin on this sound, it definitely gives me flashbacks to the early 90s

  • tame impala and yuck in chicago.......it will be one of my favorite shows of all time.

  • Cryogenically frozen in 1993 and released for our listening pleasure today?

  • Friday Night i'm in love anyone????!!!!

  • Just noticed they're playing at Paradise in Boston (with Tame Impala, no less) on April 28th! I'm so there!

  • this sounds like Dinosaur Jr., My Bloody Valentine, and The Cure collaborated on a song. Pretty freaking awesome.

  • actually it sounds like all those things and it's fucking wonderful

  • The vaselines meets dinosaur jr.

  • @dcaste3474 bit of Yo La Tengo for good measure?

  • so its a clone (or rip-off) - and maybe that damages its creative integrity, but it's still damn good!

  • sounds like dinosaur jr

  • sounds like Pavement meets Yo La Tengo

  • Lots o' Fuzz and combo vocals.......always awesome!!

  • amazing song.

  • b grade loveless

  • @vaf88 i think you mean isn't anything b side

  • They're alright. I'm definitely DL but that name is fucking shite.

  • @piepartyzena

  • @piepartyzena

First of all youtube is retarded because I wrote this comment last night not 2 months ago. Anyhow how is my name is shit? My last name is Sharpiee

  • if only elliott were still around...:*(

  • @rps5891 Elliot Smith? Yeah.

  • @xxPixietishxx

    EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS.

  • That opening riff makes me think of Dinosaur Jr.

  • Although the 90s were awesome, I don't really hear a 90s sound here.

  • anyone have the lyrics for this?

  • Bought this album from the record shop today :) Amazing stuff!

  • 90's revival FUCK YEAH!

  • it seems like if every new indie band is just a copy of an old good band

  • @elborimex Not really true. Granted, Yuck's influences seem a bit more evident than say, Everything Everything for example... but as Damon Albarn said: "The whole thing about pop music is that you're ripping off as many people as you possibly can. The trick is to listen to the right people."

And even though you could claim Yuck isn't the most original of music, it's still pretty damn good, despite the ties with Dinosaur Jr. or The Cure or whatever.

  • This so infectious. There are so many sounds reminiscent of so many great bands.... Teenage Fanclub, Ride, My Bloody Valentine and as it was quite rightly pointed out a healthy dose of The Cure.

  • @billbonesdeluxe - Maybe not the Cure, but def agree as far as Teenage Fanclub or Dinosaur Jr.

  • Real music in 2011. I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!

  • This sounds just like the early 90's ... glad they are back ... gosh I missed that era!

  • VALENTINE FANCLUB JR.

  • @diskochimp My Teenage Dinosaur?

  • My Yucky Valentine

  • @1cromsbeard Yuck la Tengo. :D

  • Reminds me of Teenage Fanclub's "Star Sign".. great song though

  • i love this song i'm starting to slide away from the music on the charts and starting to love altertive music!

  • we could complain all day about how this sounds exactly like early 90s dreampop, but lets face it... there are worse things that could happen, way way way worse things

  • its not about "this is like..." and "This seems like..." its about how good it is.

  • THIS. is NOT. Yucky.

  • Anyone else remembers Seafood?

  • If My Bloody Valentine didn't already do this (and much better, at that), maybe there would be a point of listening to this.

  • For what its worth it also reminds me of Eugenius

  • Read a bit about them so I thought I'd listen. Sorry but not breaking any new ground. This could just as well be MBV. She's even doing Belinda Butcher type vocals.

  • Bloody.. My Bloody Valentine!

  • why is the 90s making a fuking comeback already!

  • Just bought this album. It's pretty good.

  • Just saw these guys in San Francisco, amazing band, they will be back in San Francisco on the 18th of April........

  • not yet.

im expecting my first pube any day now..

  • is it just me or has anyone else had an assfull of 90's retro lo-fi tweegaze bands?

  • totally agree with jack1985 it sounds like a cross between ride and dinosaur jr

  • @koriki69

Haha thanks man, Ride are great! And so is Yuck! The future now looks good!

  • cajun dance party.

  • This is great!

  • Sounds like Ride a little.

  • Turn the vocals up!

  • @mrtictac94 no

  • :O a new band that sounds like one of my favourite bands = win.

  • FUCK YEAH merging shoegazing reverb distortion 90's rock i love it just great aspects of music

  • I really hope the 90s come back...even for just a year.

  • whos singing this? the bassist?

  • What brilliant, brilliant music. They're coming to my town!...and I'm gonna be away during the show :(
