I was a little bit younger than these girls when the movie came out and I remember thinking that it was courageous of them to even make it. I'm gay and I would avoid anything that might make people suspect me back then. Of course they weren't gay in real life so maybe it didn't scare them but I remember how it was it was the worst thing you could be as a girl that age. My feeling is that young people are a little less judgemental today at least here where I live. I hope that's true.
