Doc is probably one of the most heartfelt DJs I've danced to. He's not always the most technical DJ and you will notice slight mistakes here and there, but he's able to create feeling that no one has come close to. I remember him at a Gathering party in San Francisco (Dec 94? @ HomeBase Oakland). He rocked that place. When the lights came up during a break in the track, the whole place erupted in screams and people were just jumping up and down! :)
Farina like? Mark became very popular in LA due to the Melodic parties and in the late 90's he was on his game enough to be put in the conversation. Doc on the other hand is such a legend. The way people spoke him, he was/is more of mythical being. From mixing records backwards on a spool of thread to having crowd backing while not allowing the next DJ on.
I was there that night! That was me with the burns in a trance bopping his head when the camera moves to the right! And that's my friend screaming her ass off in the background! Haha! So much fun! Always a good night with Doc!
Crazy how it looks like the peeps in this club don't even know what they're witnessing. I'd be going nutz to this mix!!!
