  • 2 people accidently fell off the bridge and died in the toxic water at the Exit area

  • Adrian did a bad job keeping the demons in the pen, didn't he?

OHHHH, the title means PEN! He drew the demons to li- oh forget it, you get the idea...

  • The call of Doom guy...

    chainsaw up your ass

  • call of khtulu

  • Only later games like Halo and Half-Life could evoke such eerieness and action. 343 Guilty Spark in Halo 1 is sort of the modern equilivant of this level. Both of them make you wonder... what the fuck is going on?

  • Replay in two tabs at the same time its even more epic!

  • this play something something unusual happens

  • u know wha this song rlly fits? the sound of cyberdemon walkin...MAN....when i first played that sound SCARED THE SHIT OF ME! i was all time like O.O........where is......where he is......? *open door* OMFG CYBER!!!!!!!"

  • @Kayura5 i know that feel bro. ._.

  • @frioo66 nice to see some1 that know that feelin too......know that when u enter this stage..no matter how many times u play it u will NEVAR know from where cyber will come..

  • Love this song so muchhhhhhhhhh,,,, bluuuughhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this music reminds me of donkey kong country 2 or 3 for some reason

  • @raedenjay I think there was a similar song in Donkey Kong 64

  • @MechaDestoroyah8 hey search for "Donkey Kong Country 3 Music - Treetop Tumble "

  • "Presses a switch, to only hear the sounds of 5 imps and demons"

  • i am a massive baby man when it comes to scary shit

i was scared of the mario ghost houses untill i was like 13 now they are just a little bit creapy

  • i love looking at the epic win comments on these ost vids

  • I always ran out of ammo on this level and had to resort to the beserker box fist...all while listening to this track.

  • it seems the kall of ktulu by metallica

  • Thanks a million for uploading.

The title, even though originally trivial and based on a rather humorous idea, is one of the most lyrical and imaginative phrases I've ever read.

  • just who the hell is adrian?

  • @SoundofLambda

    Maybe Adrian carmeck

  • @SoundofLambda Adrian Carmack, I'm guessing. One of the guys who developed DOOM.

  • @SoundofLambda Adrian Carmack. At the time he was Id's lead artist.

  • @SoundofLambda adrian carmack, who designed the monsters in doom.

  • 2 people are still stuck in a corner on the SNES version

  • This is my ringtone, I love this song.

  • I always wondered who is that second marine in the background.

  • The call of ktulu

  • This theme gives me a headache every time I listen to it. It makes me feel sick and makes me want to stop being alive.

  • everytime i have an exam this song plays when i grab the pen.

  • This music alone made E2M2 terifying. The way the synths mimic demonic cries good enough to give you a sense that something is there, even though you know all monsters are killed.

  • In the days before YouTube and Facebook and all of that I would for hours on end play right through the levels in both Doom and Doom II....those are the best memories of both Doom games, right into the mid-90s. I miss the 90s already as a kid.

  • crates.... heh

  • The sudden delay in drums at 1:11 is pretty cool.

  • In the days before youtube i would play through like 3/4 of the game just so i could hear a song on a specific level i would get there and not even play the level lol.

  • 2 people are afraid of Adrians Pen

  • @NashKillmaster E1M1 does sound like Metallica, but not Master of Puppets. Play E1M1 and listen to No Remorse.

  • Comment removed

  • My favourite music <3

  • I heard rumors about this song being similar to Call of Ktulu, but I don't hear it.

  • @NashKillmaster Yeah, I just listened to Call of Ktulu, and I hear no resemblence = In about as little similarity as there is to E1M1 sounding like Master of Puppets. I just think that metallica fans like taking credit for things that their band never really did. Metallica is good and all, but the composer of Doom made this bitchin' music all on his own.

  • @areckelh I had to listen to it real closely, and I think the actual similarities are just the drum beat and the climbing nature of the notes. Besides, every artist and composer has some kind of influence, that's one of the reasons why they do so well in the first place.

  • @areckelh Not saying I don't agree with you, but listen to E3M1's music and Pantera's Mouth For War, and tell me that isn't *at least* a reference! Same with E3M2 and Judas Priest's Leather Rebel.

  • @elstormo I acknowledge now that many of these songs contain at least a hint of reference to many good rock songs of old. Some a lot stronger than others, but regardless, it's all good music.

  • @elstormo Especially with E3M1, that is exactly like the Pantera song! Thanks for educating me good sir. DOOM, Pantera, Slayer, rock on.

  • @areckelh1 With pleasure, man. \m/

  • Comment removed

  • @n64expansionpack No, e3m3

  • @areckelh E1M1 is still based off of a metallica song - it's just the Chorus Riff of No Remorse played over and over again

  • @nashvilleraidersfan

    and bits of muppet master.

I never heard really listen to them saw T shirts and was like its one of those things...after hearing No remorse and Puppet it hear both in E1M1

heck I even mistook Puppet in a doom mod which had the song in midi format

  • sad 2 people missed the berserk powerup and got kill XD

  • @robodueful Oh shut the FUCK up, you cunted cunt !

  • @xxBillyBones Did YOU miss it? LOL...

  • @xxBillyBones im talking about the people that pressed the dislike button

  • GAAH! RADIOACTIVE WASTE! BURNS! STINKS!

  • whoo this brings back memories

  • This is an awesome song, obviously inspired by the call of ktulu.

  • This is the most mysterious of all

  • TOM HANKS BE PIMPIN TO THIS SHITTTTTTTTTT

  • lol lady sovereign.

well at least it's not fucked.

  • @Frostycakez great comparison, its almost spot on

  • 2 people got slashed by an imp

  • @joshAKAtheman this are really pussies ! >=(

  • This song fits the level perfectly! You start near a wall of boxes with only one exit. The music starts so well you get the shit scared out of u and start thinking stuff like "OMFG wat if there ish a cybademan behind tat wall??!?!?!?!OMFG!!!!!"

    I loved that level.

  • @Rambosee whahahahh

  • @Rambosee Dude, as I've read your comment, I've felt urgent need to play that level, so I've run Dosbox and played it. You're right, what an atmosphere was that!

  • @warrax111 yep! Its one of my favorite levels in doom! I too, just played it using the doomsday engine!

  • @Rambosee if YE OLDE DOOM scares you u should stick to playing kid icarus or something more lighthearted

  • @StuffedClams haha doom was scary as shit a while ago cuz i play deadspace and when i was like 10 doom crept me out

  • 1 person got killed by imps in the maze of boxes

  • This sounds like a less imposing version of "Getting Too Tense". Both show inspiration by "The Call of Ktulu".

  • thumbs up if you keep humming this song in the shower..

  • @StaryKrow well... that ain't gonnna end well.

  • i fcking hate that little gray bar down there \/

  • *u run so fast as u can and try to survive.a legion of demons and devils follows u to drink ur boiling blood in ur veins to get the feeling of suffer .but they dont know that ur more dangerous than a mio. man rebellion. u turn and screams:*

Everyone will go down ! one by one!!!!

*ur gatling shoots thousands of bullets to ur enemies and u hear their suffer of their fatal wounds. u like this sound ....its like u turned into a beserker with blood thirst.u stop shooting. nothing is alive. u go away*

  • i like 0:00 - 0:25 pretty much before the band kicks in

  • anyone know where i can get the drum versions of these music pieces? i mean ive got the midis and that but still dont know what to do

  • Gotta love this music :D, it's so mysterious and love the drum beats on it.

  • hey guys i usually use the jdoom doomsday engine or doom legacy to play this now

i was wondering since i sometimes play it with high textures and that how do i get different versions of the music?

because i want to see how the official soundtrack would work in game even though i like the midi versions much better :D

  • i love how guitar pro 5 has the exact same midi tones that doom used.

  • The Call of Ktulu? Wow, id must really like metallica cuz they use alot of their songs.

  • @Ironstringz yep. tight song.

  • truly haunting :)

  • Now that I think about it, the BGM from "The Spirit World" (level 28 in Doom II) is based on this song, isn't it?

  • This piece brings back one memory: boxes. Lotsa boxes.

  • Strangely peaceful.

  • i think they should re-release this soundtrack with actual guitars, etc. the only problem is that people would screw it up by over-distorting their guitars.

  • @guitarguy42394 not sonicclang

  • Ever since I first entered that level, I knew there were things behind those boxes...

  • I like how in the SNES version they used this track instead of the one that plays at the end of levels. They had to chop out a few maps (Storage got chopped from shores of hell episode) and it threw the music off a little.

  • 1:12 - 1:36 i see what u did, i read ur comment

    great!

  • This song together with the imps really scared me as a child...!

  • Same here xD

  • call of ktulu is the song.

  • best level of Doom

  • Very Good, the music of the doom series is awesome!!!

  • excellent music

  • The most atmospheric, creepy music in the game IMO. Especially with those boxes all over the place... there's a million places for something to LUNGE AT YOUR THROAT

  • id like to skip thru a sountrack of the game to listen to my favorite tracks, lol great stuff

  • The BEST atmospheric track for the game.

  • This level always creeped me out...

  • mew...

  • 'Curiousity killed the cat?'

  • Actually stupidity killed the cat. Curiosity was just framed for the crime.

  • @ShortGuy1792 wrong, curiosity did kill it, satisfaction brought it back and said stupid did it in a side investigation.

  • @ShortGuy1792 "Curiosity" was the name the parent used for "the car" when the car reversed over the cat.

  • @ShortGuy1792 How I feel everytime I fall for a trap in Doom...

  • this is my favourite track from the original doom.

it's as dark as it gets and just a fantastic soundtrack .. specially if you think how many technical limitations they had in the past.

  • any 1 know where to get tab for these OST? without Pro installed.. :l? i really wanna learn some of these bad ass tracks :D

  • Google the tab, if you can't find it then download the MIDI version of this track (link in my page), and then import it to Guitar Pro 5.

  • the cat meowing strongly reminds me of the intro rheme to Dexter

  • funny,i just realized that...

  • Comment removed

  • This track always freaked the hell out of me; made that level so creepy

  • cal of ktulu :)

  • ohhh shit!!! this amazing *-*!!

  • First, Containment Area, then Plutonia with Realm and Sewer.

  • Epic song! =D

  • I'll pass. I honestly cannot tell your ass from your face. ;-)

  • So eerie and unsettling. What a scary level this was.

  • DOOM CAT.

  • one of my fave doom songs

  • This should have been E1M4's music. Why? To me, I think this song would be Ideal for the level.

  • AWESOME SONG!

    But:

"that helps to keep a song interesting without being obvious"

This trick never fails to be awesome, but it is quite obvious. :)

  • soo scary!!

  • aye. can't get better than this. playing in the dark w/o no lights... ah. like i was 14 when it came out... but i say midiversions rock more.

  • Im working on those... in enhanced fm format on a home-brew instrument set... check out my profile for demos including a rough version of this song.

  • This song is reminescent of "Getting Too Tense" from "The Spirit World" in DooM II. The latter is more aggressive and overbearing :)

  • One of the best atmosphere music ever made, damn!

  • IMO This song show the real Doom's Atmosphere

So Dark as it can get!

    Awesome!

  • LMAO This does sound vaguely like a cat meowing XD Good song, DooM I's OST wasn't as good as DooM II's though

  • One of the best OSTs in gaming history.

  • the best music in doom ever! make you feel alone in the cold hell!

  • Love the drum beat at 1:59

  • My favourite doom tune

  • I can't believe this song actually used to scare you guys back when you were a kid. When I was a kid, I loved this song. I thought it was a creepy song but it was more catchy than being creepy.

  • yah this song is awesome i loved this song when i was 3 and i only knew how to erase the game yah those were the days XD

  • This scary ass song gets me looking behind me all the time in Doom.

  • John Carmack is not the creator of Doom, he is the lead programmer. John Romero is the creator.

  • right

  • Isn't Romero the guy in Doom 2 that has the Final Boss Easter Egg?

  • Indeed he is.

  • that sound you hear that sounds like evil speaking is actually a reversed sound wav of 'to win the game you must kill me, John Romero' ... pretty awesome. There is also a reversed wav sound in heretic... it's that whispering sound. 'destroy the higher magi' i think it said. Awesome song.

  • GOOD TIMES

  • this song used to scare me when i was a kid

  • The Hero: Ok i finally got my shotgun back from that tough prison and now i just have to look for the chaingun...

    (shotgun in e2m1 chaingunin e2m2)

  • yeah he is

  • He was the lead programmer.

  • Dude...at the REALLY creepy part of the song (like starting at 1:12), near the middle of it, at around 3AM, my mom BURSTS through the door at high speed, and I yell CARMACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scariest thing ever in my life.

  • The call of Ktulu is the song that Doom created the music for this level from.

  • also called the Hell Freezes Over

  • true to its name

  • this song said to be based on Metallica - The Call of Ktulu but i disagree it not sound similar after all even devil doll - mr doctor not similar

  • Ah this brings back great memories

  • 1:40 unti 2:00 is the best part!

  • also its sound like a sad nightmare one of the best musics i ever heard good game tho!

  • this music sound like something really bad happend and gone...

  • Is it just me, or does this sound a bit like The Call Of Ktulu?

  • It reminds me of Heretic or HeXen.

  • Search this on Youtube... You're right. "Doom 2 Songs Compared To Their Real Versions!"

  • You're right, it does sound a bit like Ktulu...
