  • Hello, I am working on another piece by Dowland called the Shoemaker's Wife. It would be nice you you posted a video on that piece.... -V

  • OK. Did you like this? I played Shoemaker's Wife for my exam many years ago. And I might post it some day...

    Per

  • Thanks a lot!! I am happy you listen to all my videos!!

    Kindly

    Peo

  • Peo, once again, you are astounding. I have never heard such beautiful performances as many of those you have posted here; your dynamics, colouration and texture are simply breathtaking, as is your fluidity and grace. You really know how to bring out the best in this piece. A true performance. Thanks so much again for sharing your skills with us, it is an honour to listen.

  • Thank you so much for your kind words. I am moved by them and it's an honor to play for you.

    Take care,

    Peo

  • hi

that was beautiful! i really enjoy it, keep it coming!

    saludos

  • Gracias. I will!

    Saludos!

    Peo

  • Lol Peo that's a great compliment from Smith, I think he is the most critical person on YouTube! Also I think this is one of the first positive comments that he has given!

  • Hi Jolina. LOL Well, he is a very wise person! :) I think he knows a lot about music. And recognize a great talent!! LOL Actually he has been very kind to me. I am honoured by his words. But I guess you didn't like Air...? :)

    Hugs,

    Peo

  • Of course I did like it! Why would you think I didn't like it! I love John Dowland. Your Lachrimae is very pretty, too.

    Jo x

  • Jo, I was kidding. But I was kind of sad because you didn't say so... LOL

Thanks. (I knew you liked it)

    Peo

  • Oh right so you were just fishing for compliments?! You're fabulous Peo!

  • Ahh... you got me! Damn! Thanks for the last compliment!! :) Fabulous? Who? Me? Nooo! Do really you think so? Well... if you say so... I'm not the one to argue with you.

OMG! I am such a pain in the a-; always kidding.

    You are great too!

    Hug,

    Peo

  • Dear Peo, Here's a quality of sonority U R getting that is so evocative,it makes me feel like I do when I look at a Gainesborough.I got so involved in Ur masterful handling of sonority,I forgot 2 listen 2 other aspects.I played it again & noticed that somehow U were creating a zone of time suspension while still going forward. This is the most expressive rendering of Dowland from anybody I've heard.Bream would be envious & O'Dette should schedule lessons for at least 3 years.
  • Hi! I havent seen your comment until now. Sorry. You know, I get between 100-200 a day...

I am very honoured by your (too) kind words. And I am impressed by the way you analyze my playing. Of course I know the "tricks" in musicmaking but I never think about it while playing...

    Thank you again!

    Peo

  • Dear Peo,Thank you for trying to respond, but trust me...The payoff is hearing U,then looking into

my consciousness. There doesn't have to be more.

On the "tricks"or rhetorical agogical techniques...

They must not be so easy 2 find & use

or my house would be full of these recordings.

AS it is I long ago sold 99% of my classical recordings & only kept 60,half of which R from 1895-

1930.These were the only 1s with the "tricks".

  • Dear...? Smithsherman..? Thank you for your comments. I think we are agreeing on that music is all about expressing yourself. The technique is merely a tool for doing that. And so is the choice of instrument. That's why I play the guitar. And not the accordeon... It's (the guitar's) soft and melancolic sound suites me fine; it's me...

    Kind regards,

    Peo

  • One of my favorite guitarists.

Reminds me so much of Christopher Parkening.

    Great playing Peo!

    Mark Hill

  • Hi Mark!

I'm honoured by your words. I hope to keep fulfill your expectations!

    Kindly,

    Peo

  • wonderful..

  • Thank you!

    Kindly,

    Peo

  • i would like to know what kind of classical guitar this is,i it handmade and by who it sounds great.

  • Hi,

Go to my Channel, find the link to my webpage at the right. And read all about it there.

    Peo

  • That is the most beautiful rendition of AIWTW that I have ever heard!

    What transcription are you playing?

    Really great playing!!!

  • Thanks! It's more or less from Karl Scheit. Universal Edition. Search google.

    Regards and good luck.

    Peo

  • My version is from an edition by Fredric Noad. In watching your video it looks quite similar....but your playing and sound is fantastic. You give the piece the required "breath" that it needs to sound that good!

Did you study with anyone? What make of guitar are you playing?

    Regards

  • Thank you for your words. Yes I studied with professor Per-Olof Johnson at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen for 7 years.

If you visit my homepage (link at my channel) there is info on my guitar.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Peo

  • Promising. Has to be played in during some months before knowing the exact quality.

Any comments on how to avoid "left hand noise"?

I have focused on this problem to a Segovia video.

Some answer this is "chopped off", i.e. in the edition.

  • I have played this piece for decades, never get tired of it. Peo`s interpretation gives me courage to dive deeper into the music with my new & wonderful Michelin-Salomon guitar. Thanks!

  • WOW! Congrats on your new guitar! Is it good?

    Peo

  • wow... I never knew Dowland could write something like this... You surely did this piece justice. Dowland=melancholy

  • Thank you BFGUITAR! Glad you like my Dowland. I love his music!

    Peo

  • Really enjoyed that Peo!

  • Beautiful as usual, I would love to know how you get that sound on these vids? BTW I live just a few miles from Walsingham and occasionally work there, so this has a paticular resonance for me. Keep them coming.

  • The maestro at his best....

  • A beautiful piece played with great skill. Thanks for posting.

  • As usual, very enjoyable.

  • very nice..

  • Always a pleasure to hear - Thanks Peo
