  • @enjorlas8 if you have some ear for music you can surely find it yourself too!!! just like he did! <3 enjoy

  • @redhandrail WHAT isn't quite? Keep trying WHAT, exactly? As much as negative comments have their place on YoutTube (and one should probably opt to dismiss them), it's the arbitrariness and complete lack of thought that go into them that drive me mad. I understand the appeal of posting any sort of comment on here, but at least think it through before you press Post. Abasing the efforts of others is embarrassingly cowardly.

  • Good job, I rather liked this.

  • Wow. Fantastic!

I've been really uninspired lately. This was just what I needed. Thanks!

  • I think much of Richard D James stuff is so emotive that it can be translated to 'real' instruments very nicely - as we have here :-) thanks 4 posting

  • theres not many videos on here that actually impress me.

    this impresses me.

  • Sounds really good, but still not quite as good as the original

  • Wow! YES!

  • fantastic! i never thought anything by Aphex Twin coujld be played on a guitar!

  • Lots of it can, Go listen to AFX - Arched Maid Via RDJ

  • awesome! You're a genius

  • really great job man..beautiful.both versions

  • i've added a link to an mp3 version in the description

  • wow, it sounds really good.

  • to quarrelsomeness and anyone else who might have left a similar comment: I would go a step further than saying Fingerbib made me feel happy, it can actually make me feel better no matter how negative of a mood i am in. i would imagine that if my house burned down, and then after i found the news someone played Fingerbib for me, i would probably just say oh well there are always more houses in the world.

  • Fingerbib makes me feel happy every time i listen to it

  • @quarrelsomeness - that's interesting, personally i find Fingerbib one of Richard's saddest, most introspective sounding songs! for me it conjures feelings of lost innocence, nostalgia and a yearning for simpler times. On the contrary, I find 'Goon Gumpas' from the same album to have a similarly nostalgic feel, but feel much happier when listening to it, remembering good times from childhood. It's great though that people can interperet his songs in such different ways!

  • @rorz999 Must be something about the sound, it evokes similar feelings for me, lost innocence and nostalgia. I also find Boards of Canada's Roygbiv does the same but on a happier note. Music!

  • stomping my foot, awesome playin

  • awesome

  • Soooo good!

  • quite a few bits made my spine shiver

    pretty

  • I really enjoyed this. Very nice work, sir. I like the quietness then "the rush up."

  • molto bello! bravo..

  • 1:41 into the melodious impulsies is the czech czech uno duo sickness!

  • Nice!...that would have taken me a very long time to get that accurate.

How long did it take you to transcribe the track?

  • it's hard to say, I put in about ten to twenty minutes at a time over several weeks and get a little closer to the end result each time. Probably a two or three hours all added up.

  • amazing

  • Garcian. I'm going to have to sadly agree with you. But I'm goin to say that this is a great translation of the song. I love it man keep up the good work...you have fans!

  • supposed to say disagree sorry

  • putting fingerbib on guitar is like trying to put Gymnopédie No.1 into a 4-piece indie band - it could be done but something will be lost during the translation. The guitar is just not evocative enough to impose the great atmospheres of Richards music.

while i say this, without the knowledge that this is attempting to cover aphex twin, i would say that it is very good guitar music.

  • some things are lost, other things are gained.

  • i disagree I think the melody translate greatly to guitar. Its beautiful in its own way.

  • this is amazing. really brings a new light to an already great song =D

    well done! \o/

  • Richard would be so proud... this is beautiful... *tear*

  • Thanks! I'm proud of Richard for thinking these songs up in the first place. Unmatched.

  • Haha definitely.

I really wanna hear Melodies from Mars Track #3.

    Either that or Avril 14th

  • some guy did an amazing job af avril 14 on youtube and he provided tab to, uh, hugonitram is the name

  • i want you to teach me what your ears know. i have so much trouble finding the right notes

  • start by just finding the bass notes, then find the melody notes, then listen for the background notes and try to work it all in somehow

  • i see. but did you have any ear training exercises that helped you know where on the guitar is the perfect note?

  • no, if you mess around with a guitar enough you'll have memorized where the note is that you want to play.

  • youve inspired me. i need to work on this.

  • bravo! maestro

  • There's links to tab in all the descriptions.

  • heaing aphex twin on guitar really makes you appreciate the complexity and beauty of his melodies.

  • Great work, your covers are the best I've seen on here.
