the marines were ordered to surrender by that navy Mr bean lookalike. They refused to speak to the iranians, it was the navy who was paraded. The marines should have took command and ordered a fire mission (US jets preferably, as they are less restrained). Then they should have politely invited the iranians to fuck off, before air cover arrived.

When I say selections btw I mean for SAS. And SBS only allowed Royal Marines up until recently. Now they allow anyone (that is in the British Armed Forces of course) to apply.
8 months training unless you have got back trooped...a lot. Just pointing that out. And you would have to be at the same level if not better fitness to pass selections. After Selections I believe you have to go through 20-24 weeks training depending if you have your wings or not. Don't bother calling me naive either. My dad was W/O 1st class RM and I'm doing my PRMC at the end of the summer. I agree that the training may be more physical than SAS but you should already be at that lvl of fitness.
If your telling the truth and you have gone through the RM training and have got in then I have a lot of respect for you...but to try and say that the royal marines training is tougher than that of the SAS is very naive. The majority of the SAS are former royal marines but still a lot of royal marines fail to get in because of how tough it is.
The whole of the royal marine commandos are not special force (although they are as good as most of what the world can offer, being ona huge scale aswell)

the marines were ordered to surrender by that navy Mr bean lookalike. They refused to speak to the iranians, it was the navy who was paraded. The marines should have took command and ordered a fire mission (US jets preferably, as they are less restrained). Then they should have politely invited the iranians to fuck off, before air cover arrived.
This is the demo team, who are quite good at unarmed combat.

8 months training unless you have got back trooped...a lot. Just pointing that out. And you would have to be at the same level if not better fitness to pass selections. After Selections I believe you have to go through 20-24 weeks training depending if you have your wings or not. Don't bother calling me naive either. My dad was W/O 1st class RM and I'm doing my PRMC at the end of the summer. I agree that the training may be more physical than SAS but you should already be at that lvl of fitness.

If your telling the truth and you have gone through the RM training and have got in then I have a lot of respect for you...but to try and say that the royal marines training is tougher than that of the SAS is very naive. The majority of the SAS are former royal marines but still a lot of royal marines fail to get in because of how tough it is.
