this is like the fountain of my lost youth. everytime i come across this vid i get lots of inspiration from you sir.you have the killer chops. that loosness yet can rapid fire a lick at any given moment in a very unusual time and space. my brain gets unscrambled.i feel refreshed again even i had my moments when i want to really quit the guitar lol.
Well now you make me blush, sir. And here I was wising I had your chops, after seeing your Jeff Beck cover from the other day. Like every player, I have good days and bad. This was a good day! Keep on Rockin'!
I love and want Great tube tones but I have a real problem . I live in a attached house with many close neighbors . I desire a tube amp with good tone when it's played at very low volumes . Money is less of an issue . Any sugestions other than moving ? Thxs , Jerry .
@videoboy65 sounds like you are performing the live version i am thking of getting he class 5 do you think it would be loud enough to use "live" if not what about w/ an extention cabinet? would that work or is this just a practice & recording amp? thanx cm
I am playing to a live version -- possibly the one of HTWWW. IMO, using the class 5 for liev shows or rehearsals will depend on how loud your drummer is and the volume of the other players in your band. For my band, the amp does not have enough grunt. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hello! - volume was 6-7, treble -10, mids- 5, bass- 3. I used the internal speaker on the Class 5, mic'd up with a large diaphragm condenser, which was positioned approx. 2 feet back from the amp and aimed between the speaker's cone and outer edge.
@videoboy65 thanks man, ive been thinking of getting one of these to get that "zep, cream, hendrix" powertube saturation at low volumes. id be micing it and using it at gigs using a Sennheiser evolution e906 Dynamic Guitar Amp Mic. do you thinks this amp would work well in this application? thanks!
@jimmyp73 Hi: micing it may work, but for the bands I play in, the class 5 probably would not cut it live, but that's just us. try it out and let me know!
I'm hoping that happens too. I've heard that marshall is going to expand the Class 5 line -- hope that means a 20-22 watt head. Then I can use that instead of my Marshall 2061, which is ok, but lacks the Plexi-style tone controls.
I found the backing on a site called guitar backing tracks in their LZ section. The recording seems to be the left channel only (bass, drums, vocal) of the version of IS from the HTWWW CD. I've not compared the two versions but that seems to be it. Jimmy's guitar is non-existent on the left channel so dropping my playing into the track was a breeze.
That class five is nailing the live Page tone. What's the story on the Les Paul? I played one @ Guitar Sinner, had it set up like you did for this recording and they asked me to turn it down. They said people were having to yell to talk at the counter. Small GC but my point is that this little amp is quite loud and might be just right for small club gigs. I hear that with a 4x12 extension cab it's loud enough for just about any club gig. Have you tried an x cab yet?
Dear Ron: I've used the Class 5 with 4x 12 cabs and it sounds just great and is very loud. For me, its not enough for live gigs, but we play pretty loud. The Les Paul used in the demo was a 2000 R9, which is completely stock. No boost or distortion pedals, just straight into the class 5.
Hello Jacob! - volume was 6-7, treble -10, mids- 5, bass- 3. I used the internal speaker on the Class 5, mic'd up with a large diaphragm condenser, which was positioned approx. 2 feet back from the amp and aimed between the speaker's cone and outer edge.
Hell yeah this vid rocks! I found myself wanting to bang my head watching this. That video effect goes great with the song and you got a great Zepp style tone with the class 5. This is probably one of the best amp demos I've seen on youtube.
The class 5 is a very cool little amp and I'm finding it pretty close to perfect for the recording of classic rock style guitars. I didn't want the video to be just another guy playing guitar in a living room, so I got a bit carried away...
hi sir , do you know which is the difference between class 5 and vox ac4tv? , Please answer , Goodbye

@videoboy65 i wish marshall made a "class 15" or something a few more watts would be nice, but still low enough to be usable
