best way to stop a yellow tail attacking a new addition is to rearrange the tank decor then it will think it is in a new environment and calm down. it sees the new fish as being added at the same time to what it thinks is a new tank.
I did the same thing, i used a yellow tail blue damsel to help mature my aquarium.
it does work,....(but).....when you introduce new fish, make sure that they can take care of themselves!.. yellow tails are very territorial and will remove the fins of (as i found out)any fish that is introduced of similar size.
mhm if i had a 20 gallon tall tank
then could i get 2 yellow taileds an a clean up crew , FOWLR (fish only with live rock)
this would be my first SW tank
what do u guys think?

If you can, try bigger, bigger is better (and much easier) when it comes to saltwater.
