My husband is Japanese and told me that it's the English teaching in Jr. high school that ruins it for everybody, teaching English with Japanese sounds and by Romanizing Japanese. They learn the wrong sounds for the letters and it's set in their heads for life. Her demonstration of the word "couldn't" is bad! When I teach that word to Japanese people, I show them how to pop the "nt" through their nose, like we do.

I'm bisexual, I don't see a problem with being gay regardless of whether some is or is not. It's not really an insult if you ask me. if you are able to understand the root difference between japanese and latin base languages then you will undestand why english is as difficult for japanese people as japanese for us.

It is just a question of grammatical structure. For instance, English has IIRC 24 vowel sounds, and they're hard for any foreigner: bad, bed, but, both, boat, etc.

Not only that. Here an example of resemblances between words in languages evolved from latin:

english -> good morning / good day

german -> guten morgen

spanish -> buena mañana / buenos dias

italian -> buona mattina / buon giorno

french -> bon jour

Latin languages have the same base, so is easy relate one with another, but japanese have a completely different base.

Latin and languages that evolves from Latin are completely different and have nothing in common with Germanian languages.

German and English evolved from Germanian as latin from Italic. But the actual ones are extremely influenced from latin since Romans were all over Europe (a large amount of the actual vocabulary is derived from latin, or mixed it's germanian root with latin declinations). And the syntax and verb tenses come from latin too.
