UFO over Ballinger, Texas 9/14/2011? Strange lights appear!

Sorry folks we were on the way to Cisco and saw JETS dropping flares. Didnt hear a boom thought but did pull over and watch the flares for a min. or so .... Upper winds may be different than the lower winds as they were when we were watching. Going back thru on the 11th maybe we will be lucky and see them again

I don't think they were flares. I'm from Florida and I lived next to an air force bombing range. I would watch them a lot and I've seen many flares in my time. I would say it's a secret weapon or aircraft

I live in Abilene. Last night I was driving from San Angelo to brownwood when I saw the lights. I also think it was military maneuvers. It looked like the lights were swirling around each other at one point. Could be secret testing of some sort. The boom you heard may have been B-1 breaking sound barrier. It was quite freaky none the less.

Saw lights like that last night, I think it is flares because of some army helicopters flying by after school.

That's a B-1 out of Dyess practicing missile avoidance maneuvers. Those small, disappearing lights are flares. That throws heat seeking missiles off the aircraft's path. That large light is the B-1's navigation light, and of you look closely as the video is being played in slow motion, you can see the B-1's blinking wingtip lights. The explosion you heard would be the afterburners of the aircraft's engines.

I live in Paint Rock south of ballinger and just saw similar amber lights that would be one then become four or five then flick out almost immediately . Went in to get camera. lights gone but two helicopters flying in area where i saw them. area was nort east of town. probably military as military fly and do manuvers alll the time around here. maybe they do them over lake ivy. also two days ago found a Chinese latern that landed in the pasture. that surpised me.

We saw this one.. We live close to this town and this is not unusual to see these lights, they happen VERY often in the area. The lights in the Paint Rock area are amazing.

WATCH MY VIDEO! This bothers me to this day! January 12, 2011 Corsicana, Tx 6:30 a.m saw a few stars but one stood out then began acting eratic i have video of it moving. Corsicana is relatively latitudinally level with Ballinger. Could be a UFO highway...

just checked this on google maps & of EVERYWHERE that these sightings were seen on the 14/9/11 (6 days ago) in texas,

it mentions all the sightings were/could be seen in the west and could be seen from 8 miles away,

well we just checked and Roswell (where original alien first crashed) & Nevada (area 51) are BOTH west of every single location where they had been sighted.

which means all sightings that people saw, could be seen from roswell & area 51 ON THE SAME NIGHT

My son, husband, and I were watching TV when we heard the loud noise. It did sound like a sonic boom and it shook the house. Several days later, an older gentleman told me he and his wife watched it for 45 minutes. He said the lights were amber colored and much brighter than the video shows it to be.

I was there that day and it did sound like "old school sonic boom from a jet" ..."which shook most old ballinger houses"....THUNDER/BOMB is what most young people said it was....but I heard no jet sounds before or after to make that accurate...it could be military training, which has happened before, with flares...but how do you explain no sounds of jets?....but either way it was still interesting...if it is military...good job...if not...it is still exciting that it happened in Ballinger...

I think these are too short-lived to be flares. The whole point of flares is to throw IR-seeking missles off-course, that's why they descend on parachutes. Not sure what these could be. Strange stuff going on around there lately.

Would be flares and looks similar but where did the poster below say with such certanity that the sound barrier was broken? Was he in the Cockpit. Does he know the penalties for doiing that?: Pilot of 40 years here. Since when does the supposed F-16 or F-18 appear as a brilliant ball of light? All flares would show a smoke trail. Did anyone mention hearing Jet's? The noise of full afterburner is distinct..That bright a light would destroy every Pilots nightvision. See speculation or BS.Tell us.T

@vermontlake no jets were heard last night. when we watch these guys practice down at our ranch, their afterburners shake the ground even when they are very high up. they never break the sound barrier and they are there almost daily. furthermore i've never seen one drop 8 flares. that many flares would have turned night into day here that night. they usually only drop one at a time. these lights were moving north against a north wind.

@vermontlake I was watching it the whole time, never once heard any jets. The video really doesn't do it justice. It was amazing in person to see. There was no trails of anything in the sky, just the lights. This clip is actually the very last of it. It lasted much longer to be any kind of flare drop.

I saw the same thing South of Rowena. Ft. Worth JRB conducts dogfighting exercises and those were flares dropping out of the rear of an F-16 or F-18. The explosion was an accidental breaking of the sound barrier. During exercises for trainees, keeping your speed under 750mph can prove difficult, especially when the barrier isn't always at the same speeds. Weather conditions play a role. Hope this helps.

Their flares are not even similiar to this. These lights moved a great distance from north to south last night,

against the wind. Flares can not do that. You might as well tell me that this was desert swamp gas.
