female lions hunt in packs when they have cubs, however a male lion hates cubs that arent his own, and if he wants to mate he has to kill the cubs to actually physically put the mother back on her cycle, her cycle stops as she has a cub to look after, kill it and you can mate, BUT those lioness's wont just let you kill their cubs..

I have seen this full documentary, it was a rouge male Lion, taking advantage of the Pride leader being 10 km away marking his borders. The rouge wanted to come in quickly scare the lionesses, kill the cubs and take over before dad got back, he had no idea that the 7 sisters were not giving up there kids this easily.

I`ve seen adult male lions up against several females, and the males generally lost. There are accounts of several lionesses even killing male lions.

I`ve seen adult male lions up against several females, and the males generally lost. There are accounts of several lionesses even killing male lions.

@shyshobling Females within the same pride might back down (and this is not always guarunteed, but not strange females.....particularly if more then one of them has cubs. Trust me, i`ve seen hundreds of scientifically published documents on these animals concerning all aspects of their lives, as well as a countless number of documentaries and articles and such. I know a great deal about these animals.

This is a juvenile lion no where close to an adult male! A full grown male would make them run for their lives!!! No threat of death from a juvenile.. He's probably around two years old.. In three years the story would be different....

The lioness brought down the kill: if he were the alpha male, she would serve him. But he's a presumptuous youngster who has not done the hunting his elders have. For all we know, he's up against a female of his own pride. It won't hurt him to be rebuffed like this. He's not a cub anymore, and must do his own time, bringing in the kill.

That poor male was a fairly young, inept male, no more than 3 or so, judging by his mane. The female pride comprised of many mature & well organized female of mothers, aunts, & grandmothers working in a concerted manner. The poor chap, likely to die soon from his injury, was not experienced or big enough to intimidate the big female pride, since he was chased out by his own mother, aunts, & grandmothers no more than a year or so previously.

Yes, I know the difference between lionesses and lions, since cats (big and small) are my favorite animals. But "lion" is a general, unisex term whereas "lioness" is specifically and only female.
Also, yeah, he is strong, but the fact of the matter is that there were around 4-6 lionesses teaming up against him. They may not always have the physical strength of the males, but they're a deadly team.

Also, once again, even a fully-grown male will likely be beaten by several lionesses. Lionesses are, like wolves, the best team fighters around.
