  • I'm reading Wingy's autobio right now (Jan 2011) written in the forties in all his great style...and way of speaking...(heavy on N.O. style) . He was there for all of it...bringing Teagarden to New York for the fist time...he was a happenin' guy. Life was cheap back then. Lot's of friends died at an early age...Guns, knives....missing body parts...not just WIngy, either.

  • @sclogse1 Autobio interesting. Does it have a listing of his records. I like to know recording date on this disc.

Life was cheap for people who made a living playing the blues & and jazz. So many of them died young.

  • I recall another yee olde 78 rpm version of this song from the 1940s. But it was a gal who sang it. But this is a h00t! "Motel time"..."Loose as a goose." Hilarious. The station I heard it on has just signed on the air again after the owner came back from fighiting in World War 2. He rebuilt the station using US Army Signal Corps equipment for his AM station. And the only records that they had were funky old 78 rpm records like this. Tons of Glenn Miller Band music, too.

  • great upload! having trouble finding the release date, is this pre-prohibition?

  • @gideonaa No, I think it's from the 1940s. I'll search and see what I can find.

  • Great title, Sounds like my local!

  • Alright ! Wingy gets 1000 views 8/11/2009

  • YEAH!
