@Alessi1911 Did you read the description? this was from a radio program that aired in 2011. they RE-AIRED a 1986 radio interview with phyllis in 2011. so the actual interview was in 1986.

Wow, I'm shocked at how much the book is going for. I got it when it first came out for...$20. But yes, the book is very much worth the read. Phyllis had hell of a sense of humor.

It has a VERY short clip of PH from the '81 TV special that aired. The clip starts about halfway into the demo reel, but hey, at least it's something. I emailed the producer in hopes that I could obtain the entire special, but it was a no-go

@pattifan I paid $80 for my copy on E-bay and I carry it to work with me everyday. It's like a part of me now, quite life changing and spectacular. After reading this book, there was no doubt that I was now officially a "PH Groupie"!!

I do believe things happen to a reason, I got the book last year,but before that I wasn't as devoted to PH as i am now,i owned some of her music,but i didn't know very much about her,but i knew that there was something special about her.My car had gotten broken into and they stole all my music (3k worth)and the only cd that survived (i guess it dropped out) was "The Legacy of Phyllis Hyman" pt2,so I started to listen again & then i ran across her "Unsung" bio on here...

I remember when she passed,but i was only 12 and just starting to appreciate "real" music,but that "Unsung" bio made me cry like a baby and hurt so much for her,but at the same time my heart was captured.I had to have everything PH & reading the book made me laugh,cry and mourn all at once.I felt as if she had so much to tell & teach me.She helped me through some tough times.From Jan-May this year she was the ONLY artist that i.....

You all, I have three rare PH videos that aren't here on Youtube. There's a BET segment hosted by Freda Payne in which her, Hinton Battle, and Judith Jamison are interviewed. Another is a clip of her Tony award nomination. The last one is a Sophisticated Ladies medley performance at a Thanksgiving Parade. Thing is I don't know how to convert the DVD clips and upload them to Youtube. help please?

@AleekahTV YouTube supports MP4, AVI, WMV to name a few. The software that I just told you about can convert the DVDs into these formats.

@AleekahTV I am about to worship you right now. I'm beyond excited!! But anyway, I know that you have to use some sort of software to convert a DVD to a format that's supported by YouTube. There is this free software that you can use, it has no viruses: dvdpe . com / dvdpe.html. Remove the spaces between the link I just gave you. I had to do this because YouTube won't allow links. There are even instructions on the website. If you have any questions just ask! :-)

@MegaDeeOne I'm actually only 16 years old and I can't afford a book that expensive.. yeah I'm very sad about that because I am DYING to read it!! If any of y'all have a used copy that you're willing to let go of at a reasonable price I'd love to get in touch with you lol.

@phymanforever I bought my copy on E-bay. I paid $80 because i was impatient, but you may be able to get one at a cheaper price if you bid. I doubt many people will be willing to part with their copy even if they've already read it. When you get your copy you'll understand what i mean. Good luck!!

Thanks 4 sharing the Incredible,"Ultimate Sophisticated Lady" PH w/ us.I enjoy every chance I get 2 learn more about this wonderful person that didn't know just how much love we had 4 her.I've learned so much from PHs' life & experiences that I feel her spirit is kindred 2 mine & those who actually understand that it's the mysteries about us that make us great.PH is therapy 4 me, i've changed my views of life & I have more appreciation 4 it because u never know who's life u'll change w/ ur own.

@pattifan and @AleekahTV, the book is worth every cent I spent. I got it when it was first released and I kept it close to my heart. Now that its out of print, its hard to come by. $101 is probably the cheapest I've seen it. Its sad that the author couldn't afford to keep the site up or do a reprint.

Also, Phyllis was on point about rhythmic sounds produced by machines lol. They ain't doing it like they did back then no more! Real instruments and real voices.

Thank you for posting this, I love her sooooooooh much. I can't wait for the movie, I heard there's talk about Jill Scott possibly playing her. Both are my favorites of all time. Being such a fan, I'm sure you've read the book, "Strength of a woman". Great read, I paid 165.00 for it when I purchased it. I needed answers. I'm sure you can find it cheaper now.
