  • @wait1005 actually you first cook for 10 mins and then flip over the chicken and cook for another 10 mins

  • What is ting hong? Can't I sub the rose wine with the regular cooking wine ?

  • @rosehouse32 Ding Hong is clove. And no, you can't sub the rose wine with other reg cooking wine because rose wing has an extreme strong smell of rose which is essential to this dish.

    If I can find rose wine here I definitely will try it.

  • @rosehouse32 That I am not sure, but rose wine has a very strong rose smell. You may get that in some oriental markets.

  • i always thot the ingredients were easy to recognize its - licorice -star anise -cassia , not that trashy cinnamon, leave out cinnamon if you cant find cassia -cloves -fresh ginger -scallions -rose wine(substitute with dry sherry if u dont have it) -dark soy sauce -light soy sauce.

  • its licorice sticks. dont put too much or its going to be sweet.

  • This type of chicken dish is best eaten at restaurant in Chinatown, don't try to do it at home, too " much " ingredients used, unless you keep using it forever. If you want to do it just go to Chinatown traditional medical hall and ask the person behind the counter to give a packet of ingredients for making this black soy sauce chicken, they have BBQ pork, roast duck ingredient, and many other for chicken soup, pork ribs, pork brain etc...
