  • I am a Teamster with Local #769. This video will be very helpful in selling the EFCA to my co-workers and fellow members. Thank you for speaking up for the working people of America.

  • I don't care how far the pendulum swings in any direction, it is wrong to pass a law that allows unionization without letting workers have an honest say in a secret ballot.

I notice how careful you were to use the phrase, 'without coercion' when referring to card check.

If such intimidation didn't exist, I doubt you'd be bothered to address the issue. Just like you wouldn't say workers have a right to organize without interference from wizards, because wizard interference isn't an issue.

  • I can't believe Americans are practically marching around outside asking for their jobs to be outsourced. It's amazing.

  • It is truly amazing to see how average Americans have been fooled into thinking that labor unions are the cause of problems.

Does no one read economic history? Did no one listen to their grandparents about what working conditions used to be?

Do they not understand that without the labor movement that there would be no 40hr work week, no pensions, no safety laws?

Does no one remember that one of Hitler's first targets was the unions?

  • Yes, lets unionize more employees. Maybe they can raise the average pay for everyone. Then the corporations will send their jobs overseas, and everyone will lose their jobs!

Oh, and btw. Unchecked Corporate greed has never gone unchecked, so how can you say it always ends bad? And if it always ends bad, wouldn't that be cause for the market to correct this phenomina through businesses changing their behavior, to avoid this bad ending? I don't think GM or Walmart are wanting a bad end!

  • The way to prevent the export of US jobs is to revise NAFTA and GATT to put labor rights above corporate profits, not to put barriers in the way of union organizing.

A quick study of the boom and bust cycles of the US economy shows that unchecked corporate greed causes depressions. The New Deal saved capitalism by regulating securities and through other checks on corporate greed. Many of these checks have been removed. The consequences include Enron and Wordcom and the real estate bubble.

  • Wouldn't the EFCA prevent employers from requesting secret ballots for organizing a union? You should be able to vote secretly so no one can intimidate you, and you can have a real free choice. The teamsters and other unions took advantage of open ballots that weren't secret, and the EFCA would make it even easier to do that.

  • The EFCA wouldn't totally eliminate the employer's right to call for a secret vote, but it would limit it. Don't you agree that the pendulum of power has gone too far on the side of management? Real wages have been flat or declining for more than 30 years. The inevitable result of excessive concentration of wealth in a society is a big crash. EFCA is a mild legislative effort to check the huge power of management.

  • Great video. It's about time the labor laws are respected in this country and it's about time that every employee in a corporation have a contract like senior managment does. Of contracts are good for the managers that float from company to company, why not those who stay with a company as a career?
