I wish I was this good but I'm a 3D Modeller, not an artist :[ I recently bought a tablet, 90% of my time is going to be spent practicing to get this good. =]
Radiant, you never cease to astound your audience. Whether it be a drawing from scratch or using aspiring artists sketches (with their permission of course), you always seem to turn out stunning pictures when your finished. For this reason I will continue to stalk- umm... I mean follow, your Facebook page
I love all the little details, like the streams of sunlight. That really tied the whole picture together, I think. ^^ Made it look like a chilly Spring or almost Fall afternoon.
Nice Coloring, as expected of you ;P But I have to say, some credit should go to your Fan too! From the LineArt you showed, in my opinion your fan has some skill too!
@kitsuneshin everything I do, it's all there in my videos. They may be a little fast, but watch several of them, and you'll start to pick up exactly what it is that I do.
I love using your videos to help me paint X3, but I must say that it's kind of mind blowing, knowing that you a have a computer capable of handling the beast known as Photoshop -,-
Awesome.... But how do you make the hair shading like that? not the effects at the end but in the beginning. I have sai even thought their different, how do you shade the hair with pretty edges etx
How do you do line art so good free hand? I've had my wacom fun for about a month now and i can not do freehand line-art at all, But I'm pretty good at everything else. =\
@dacasman I suppose you could say that it depends on two things. A steady hand and long strokes. If your tablet allows, try using your arm more than wrist. I've had my tablet for years and I'm still learning to do it. So don't give up and keep trying and you'll undoubtedly get to this level of line art.
Radiant has a blog post on it. Check the website and look or search for 'How to draw better line art' :).
@udsahn Thanks for the advice. When you say "if your tablet allows it" do you mean, is it big enough? because I feel that my tablet is too big. I have the largest bamboo fun, and i kinda feel like there is too much of a distance to make a line. It's kind of hard for me to keep a consistent smooth line over such a huge distance.
@dacasman Yeah I mean if the size is large enough to allow for it. Looking at the specifications for the tablet you should be able to use your arm a bit more.
For instance, instead of anchoring your hand onto the surface and using your wrist's arcs to draw you could lightly have your hand over the drawing surface and use your arm and wrist in unison to make large gestural strokes. I use a tablet that has a 12x9" drawing area which almost forces you to do that. Which is best imo :).
