I suppose that after 20 years that I should not be surprised that Mr. DeYoung's performance here was less than spectacular, his health is not as good as it was during the Return to Paradise tour that I got the pleasure of seeing, but still, this was..I dunno...kinda like he was half assing it. I'll stick with the "Kilroy was Here" version of this song.
@Hazzyrdous I seen that tour too dude in 2002. Here is the kicker. i was in row 2 at the Key in Seattle. Dennis asked everyone in the crowd if anyone was there that had seen the original tour in 80'. I jumped up arms held high waving I was I was and looked around and there was about five hands held up. The show in 02 was exactly like the one in 80. The show opened up with a janitor sweeping the sidewalk in front of the broken down Paradise Theatre. Exactly the way they did it in 1980. So cool.
Dennis Deyoung is da man! Whether you like him or ur. Hater look at the control he has over his audience. Awesome. I think my bro and I will make a video of a robot dance on our channel this week during our DWTS commentary show. Yeaaaaaaaah!
This is a excellant performance and he had a great back up band. I don`t think one member is a band, the whole band of Styx was Styx, take just one of them away, and it`s not the same.
Okay, Dennis rules, but this song and the mannerisms he uses when singing it are just SO dorky. Dennis- please give us great songs like Private Jones, Boomchild, and Come Sail Away. Leave Roboto at home. blech... WHY do people dig this song so much?
Dennis will never bury this song, it's WAY to popular, I've seen a number of interviews with Dennis in the weeks surrounding his new album release, and he always says the Mr Roboto is THE top song he has written. and I can't blame him, I don't why so many people hate this song, it's a cultural classic. my favorite. Just look at my screenname.
i <3 this song your right why do people hate it????My mom when she hears that song she breaks out singing!!!and laughing just having fun with the song
No thanks I'll pass kid. I don't swing your way...the way of the gay. I'll let you get back to tossing off to Mr Roboto now...."secret secret...you've got a secret" LMAO!!
@Prijaa Amen to that bro. This is my band i was in 8th grade when they released their first album. Seen them for the first time live in 1980 the Paradise Theatre Album. I have seen them five other times. The new guy sounds like Dennis. Tommy is great and so is James those two alone are worth the price of the ticket. Since Tommy sings half the songs anyway. Man this band takes me back. Please Mr. Wizard like a good buddy of mine Eddie Money once said "I wanna go back but i cant go back i know"
I need control indeed. This is the crap album that finally ended the band as we knew it. Kilroy was a pathetic attempt by this ego maniac to maintain his control over the band. I always loved Styx as that hard-edged kick ass heavier sounding band. Not the Broadway theatrical production that DeYoung tried to make it into. The band will never be anything more than a tribute band without Shaw and DeYoung back together and writing heavier music.
This Song rocks! Dennis De Young was incredible in this video! Looking foward to getting "Caught In The Act" which was shot in New Orleans while I lived there in 1983-1984
this is another awesome one
