  • Goddam I am looking forward to this.. I'm an Eve junkie, my husband only likes FPS, this way I will be able to pwn him ingame as well as IRL XD. I really hope this game will be as awesome as it sounds - there's so much potential to this concept. Gogogo CCP!!

  • Who would want to play an FPS on console with noobtrollers when Keyboard/mouse is such a superior control system for this style of game.

MAYBE-PS3's key/mouse compatibility will save it.

Microsoft will rip xbox owners off by making them pay for patches and updates so Xbox is out of the question as a Dust platform.

  • It's not about want, so much as we're stuck with no other option.

The keyboard/mouse rant is one I've had since the PS2 came out. We've had USB ports on every console, excluding the Gamecube (maybe?) since the PS2 came out, even original X-Box (proprietary connector only, it's a USB port). No excuse not to support keyboard and mouse other than protecting the controller users from getting owned by the rest of us.

Even had keyboard and mouse support in the PS2 launch port of UT99 and others.

  • Supporting a keyboard/mouse configuration contradicts CCP's decision to release Dust 514 on a console. It's pretty fucking ridiculous that one would choose far less comfortable and furthermore unfitting input devices. It's a console game, make use of the fucking controller like a normal human being. And yes, there will be issues because with the mouse, it's faster to aim.

  • @SirAlavian

It doesn't contradict anything. The purpose of having it on a console is not to give it the worst control scheme possible for FPS games (controllers), but to increase the number of people giving them money. It will do this either way. All providing keyboard and mouse support does is make it so all of us PC gamers that like GOOD controls won't spend half our play time cursing about the kill/death ratio that would have been 3-5 times better with a mouse. Worst case, I buy a FragFX

  • There's a reason why controllers are the standard in the console industry. They're far more comfortable, not to mention more natural.

  • @SirAlavian couldnt disagree more

  • @SirAlavian

Also, there's nothing uncomfortable about a keyboard and mouse. It's perfectly natural. If you're having issues, find a keyboard and mouse you like, but your discomfort is a personal problem. It's also perfeectly fitting: it's a FPS, and keyboard and mouse is the best control interface for the entire genre, so if you think it's unfitting, you need to share some of what you're on. Finally, it may be a console game, but normal human beings use keyboard and mouse for shooters.

  • Human beings use a keyboard and mouse for PC SHOOTERS.

  • Looks good!

  • I seriously hope it never comes to the PC. I play EVE and I think it's a brilliant strategy to have it solely for the console. It'll help boost console sales and bring in millions of players who are not into PC gaming. People on the PC will be able to interact with the game in the future whenever CCP implements "walkaround" abilities into EVE for its pilots. PC gamers will stay in space and Console gamers will stay on the ground. SICK!

  • FFS,

THEY WON'T MAKE IT ON THE PC.

FPS's are TOO easy to HACK on PC's,

They aren't idiot enought to even try.

  • Is it true that ground troops will be necessary to take system sov? If so... this is crap.

It's another case of the rich get richer in eve, no-one will ever be able to take sov from an already established power (unless they themselves were established), because a non-nullsec alliance would find it very hard to get enough ground troops or be able to afford a decent ground army...

  • You don't need to be in an 0 sec alliance to be really wilthy rich, I'm in an corporation who never comes in low sec of 6 guys and 5 of us are really poor ('m talking like 40 million ISK top) but the boss really has billions and billions of ISK, how? He has an incredible POS and many connections in EVE and all players come to him if they need something (myself included). My point: This guy could hire a whole dam'n army probably. So my conclusion: If you work hard enough you will get a foot in!

  • 1) No one knows, the details still don't come out for a few days. It's a little early to throw up your hands.

    2) They are changing the sovereignty system.

  • @Rhysman30

As they've said EVE is more of a simulator now then a game. So welcome to reality... War is fucking expensive, and maintaining territory is even more expensive, better make allies and connections and rise up the ranks of your group of choice to gain influence, otherwise you'll always be bottom man. Done and done.

  • I hope to hell they make this for PC.

  • Those guys at CCP sure do have ambition. Can't wait to play this game. To quote a certain movie "Fleet does the flying, infantry does the dying"

  • As much as I want it on PC, I can't help but feel the PC players would get an advantage over the console players due to the mouse. I know they probably deserve this for buying consoles, but I wouldn't want it to be a walk in the park for us PC gamers.

  • Wow thats so awsome i might just blow my head off!!!

  • This -really- needs to be fo PC, too.

  • big fail, only cos its for consoles... PC > console! :) especialy FPS games...

  • although i would generally agree with you, i think CCP is making the right choice by putting it on consoles. this way they get a completely new audience and can introduce eve to console gamers, as well as giving those of us Eve subscribers a way to stay addicted to EVE and still playing something completely different (even though it is linked)

  • lulwut?

  • LOL @ interconnected with Eve. Although maybe a good idea I really wouldn't expect this anytime soon. I for one really hope they fix the problems with Eve before they even try to release this. BTW reminds me of the video I seen for ambulation and well that's well over a year ago.

  • You do know that games can sometimes take around 5-6 years to develop right? It's been developed for 3 years, I'd expect it in another year or two.

  • I think it be more as it be part of EVE! man i respect CCP taking on the tech challenge of gaming etc.!

  • Totally agree, CCP; You guys got real balls! Keep it up, you guys are the futere game makers!

  • Oh yea it will be a good while for it to kick in.

  • Dust is probably coming out around the same time as station walking...it would make sense. so a minimum of 6 months from now, but probably no more than a year to a year and a half...which is soon enough for me as long as they continue releasing vids and whatnot about it.
