Really cool dialogue between you two and I can really relate to what Jim was saying about reading National Geographic as a child. All I dreamed of as a kid was visiting faraway places, like Machu Picchu and Bhutan. I did figure out a way of getting to some places: by teaching English. Now I teach online for a corporation. After 3 years in what I call a "mini-management position", I got fed up with management and am back to just teaching. Suits me fine. Anyway, please keep the videos coming!
Great interview...you're right, fear of the unknown. I think most people are afraid that they will make the change, and then realize that it was not as easy or fun as they thought it would be, but now they gave up their old job and life and cannot go back, so then they are stuck. Also, most people have to generate income somehow, and they just can't figure out how they will generate enough income in their new life to live comfortably, and they are willing to take that chance.
@jarden69 I agree with you completely. It is hard to let go of what we know; I am having a tough time myself making that decision. I lived in Korea when I was young and the first year was tough--it is not easy being away from the familiar. It gets tiring dealing with misunderstandings and frustrations, not knowing the language and the customs. Thailand seems a lot more open to foreigners than Korea was. I for one am glad that JC is around to give us all a bit of a helping hand.
Hey JC...I'm thinking about heading down to check out out Costa Rica this weekend with a buddy flying in from Florida...for 3-days...didn't you use to live there? Any advice for us?
@jarden69 Yes, but is has been a while. I liked Provincia de Alajuela, Tamarindo Beach and Quepos - Manuel Antonio Park. But like I said, it's been a while.
JC, my good friend I feel as though I already know you and your interviews make me crave more!! I like this guy, it's no wonder that he sought his artistic side because he paints a canvas with broad beautiful strokes of inspiration and creativity!!
You should shorten your intro to 5 secs or less, I skip it always!

All joking aside, how bad is the rain over there? Bangkok seems to be nearly sinking you seem pretty dry up there in Chang Mai?

@alanday05 Been dry up here for days. No rain at all. Winter is on it's way.

@jarden69 That's exactly right. I will help out a bit and show them how to supplement their income though.

JC, your interviews keep getting better, I like how it's a long video and not some short 2-3 min thing. Keep up the great work.

@frosty321 Thanks Frosty. You'll like the rest of the interview.
