  • kick ass!!!

  • I always thought Bob was the weak point of this band..... Silver Bullet Band was/is/always will be fantastic. To this day, Bob Seger is the best show I've ever seen. Saw him at Cobo Arena in 1984 on his Makin Thunderbirds tour. The energy............

  • seger is the only artist who makes me wish i could sing. its never bothered me before.mr nivag 123

  • trully Rock & roll!!!

  • Mr. Seger wasn't quite there yet when he made this, but, he was closing in. It wouldn't be till The 80's when he would kill it in The Music Industry. In a state that gave us Iguana Pop, Ted Nugent, and others, he held his own. Nice job, Bob!

  • In the immortal words of the immortal Bob Seger, "Just take the old records off the shelf, I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself"... but now with YouTube, we get to listen to them together. Ain't it grand!?!!

  • Saw Seeger and the band at the Hollywood Sportatorium during the early 80's. Sax player called himself "Alto Reed." That was one shit hot concert! Never fo

    rget it.

  • Nothin like some good ol Bob Seger. Music now days doesn't even come close to talent like these. I'm only 23 and I can't stand most of todays music. Most of this generation's music is a joke, full of talentless saleouts and studio bands that suck live. I wish I could have grown up in the 70s. I sing in a band and we do blues and rock n roll and man nothing comes close to when you actually add the emotion and fun into your music. Makes it soo much more fun.

  • @justinclssn07 There is always good music going on. Always. Just gotta poke around

  • Wooo, can't wait to see him in Phoenix again, December 23rd !

  • This guy was a class act, never any tabloid scandels, low key, personal life never in the media,JUST ONE HELL OF A SINGER&PERFORMER no comes close these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • see some old freinds good for the soul, man if you dont get what that means your lost !

  • San Diego 1978, RettroDood. This is also on the Face The Promise special 2-disc edition from 2007.

  • Fuckin' A!!!

  • Oh, there's a disco song pretending not to be one!

  • I agree with Carl. The good stuff is in the past and theres nothing here for the future. Music now days is a joke.

  • OMG~so glad I found this! I love this video~it really showcases Bob's voice and energy! God he was so sexy.........he is still one of my favorites! :D

  • Bob Seger and Paul Rodgers have the greatest voices in Rock

  • Yeah drummer's good: fast and precise but not mechanical...props to bass too: they lay down a groove that sounds like it could go all night.

  • @Blogdoovian

I'm not sure how they do it onstage, but in the original studio recording there were actually 2 drummers because they found that one couldn't play the tune by himself. If you listen to the album there are actually two snare drums (one drummer playing the kick drum line and the hi-hat while the other drummer plays the snare). I saw BS with Don Brewer on drums and that guy can flat out jam!

  • it flashes on my grandmother at one point she was a groupie=D

  • great song.,that drummer is up to some craaazy shit..

  • Went to see him at the old, Boston Garden when I was in High School (I think, 1980). Excellent show...everyone was standing on their seats and singing along. Bob came back out for 3 encores (for a total of 6 more songs). They finally had to throw everyone out when the standing ovation had gone for another 15 minutes and he and the band weren't coming back out. I'm pretty sure one of the songs made it on his Live Bullet album.

  • @TheGalv Whoops...I meant, NINE TONIGHT (not Live Bullet).

  • class act .brilliant voice

  • Supppppperrrrrrrbbbbbbbb!!!!!!!!!

  • Love love love him, super talented artist.

  • Our own Springsteen from Ann Arbor, MI

  • This was before there were synthesizers to enhance voices while they were performing live. Bob was and always will be the very best!!!!!

  • does anyone know who's gonna step up after bob.because nobody makes music like this anymore, the energy is off the charts, the music unforgettable,YOU will be humming this song after watching this vid.

  • You can tell he truly loves what he's doing, it's not just a money maker to him

  • Think this was from the Against the Wind tour, which is I believe was the only time he played England and I was there that night at Wembley, what a show. Please Bob come back.

  • This IS Rock and Roll, it just didn't get any better.

  • Very possibly =The= most unpretentious talent in the history of rock 'n roll. Pure midwest ethos.

  • Yeah!!!

  • I always say, when I hit L.A. for the 1st time, I am gonna chill, pull over on Hollywood Hills, and jam the sh%t outta this song.......

  • God I love this!!!

  • i dated a girl from west sacremento,ca in 96 she left and promised she would be back in a month i never saw her again til 7 yrs later during that time i used to listen to this song with a feeling of emptiness 7 yrs later i seen her again and i guess you can say that my feelings for had changed i just couldnt risk my heart again any way its a great song love it.

  • Possibly the greatest driving tune ever!

  • I love You tube. I get to relive the concerts I went to and Bob Seger was one of my all time favorites! Just saw him again Saturday for the first time in years. He's a little bit older and a lot less bolder than he used to be...well not really less bolder. He was great!

  • This man has the most amazing voice...

  • Absolutely nailed it,I defy anyone to drive within the speed limit to this, can't be done

  • @joyceeslillad So painfully true

  • Live Bob Seger.....nothing better!

  • I wonder what Karen and Graham Newman are doing these days.. lol

  • He had fabulous hair, too. ;-)

  • @lynfendleyfoster Oh yes, he did have fabulous hair. Hot Hot Hot!!!

  • Man, does he nail it or what? He's an amazing singer! Man, he could totally bring it live, not like a lot of studio bands these days.

  • @joker102877 Just saw him last night and he was AMAZING!! At 65 he's still got that great voice!

  • @Whammer79 Really???Where did you see him???I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALL his MUSIC!!!I thought he had throat cancer

  • @mattdaddyful

Saw him in London, ON. Canada. He's on a North American tour right now. I never heard anything about throat cancer, but he sounded just like he does on his records. What an incredible talent!

  • Saw this man in 1984 at Jack Murphy stadium and he played NON-STOP for 2 and a half hours!!!!! It was the best concert of my life and I've been to a LOT of Concerts.

  • everything sucks these days,i mean everything,no wonder the world has caught us

  • the best thing to come out of Michigan

  • live singing, live music NO LIP SYNC! 2 hot chicks dancing in the back! EXCELLENT!

  • 1978.

  • Thank GOD for an older brother and a massive record collection!!

  • What can you say ! Bob is awesome!!! Seen him in Toronto , years ago, what an amazing show. There is him and Bruce. There are no better. They gave us us Anthem Rock ! Rock On Forever!!!

  • Probably one of the best live vocal performances ever!!!!.

  • Elwichito, I agree 100%! The era from 1970 to roughly 1983...(before new wave an MTV dictated what the radio played) is when I grew up. I was lucky to go through my school years listening to this ! This is what rock'n'roll was meant to be! Where has it gone? Yes elwitcht, todays artists and the crap that is played on the radio today makes my heart yearn for this music more and more everyday!

  • great show....phenomenal...4 years ago in columnus ohio..IT WAS ROCKIN---HARLEY ....GEEKS..POWERFUL BUSINESS MEN.. SEXY HOT BABES OF COUSE

  • stratospheric! ; )

  • i would rather shove pins in my eyes than listen to this

  • @TheCribboy123

I feel bad for you. Its too bad you cant enjoy music like this.

  • @TheCribboy123 quick! turn it off!!

  • @TheCribboy123 I would like you to SHOVE pins in your eyes too...

  • TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNE!!!!!! :D

  • Bob Seger = GOD

  • BTW - ABBA? Captain & Tennille? Never heard of. Oh, wait, The Captain & Me you mean? That's certainly a legendary Doobie album from before you were born! But if you don't mind, I gonna start Bob Seger's Shakedown. Super tune.

  • BTW - ABBA? Captain & Tennille? Never heard of. Oh, wait, The Captain & Me you mean? That's certainly a legendary Doobie album from before you were born!

  • I make a comment about the great music that I liked in the 70's & 80's and ONE asshole has got to get me pissed because I didn't like the DOOBIE BROTHERS !!!!!!!! WHAT THE F&@K ??? and I was nice to say that I just didn't like them and this SHIT is gonna give me CRAP BACK cause I like KISS, NUGENT ??? again WHAT THE HELL ? always an asshole in the crowd !!! EVERYONE MEET '2hansome " ( LMFAO !!! is someone in love with themselves ?) EVERYBODY MUST LIKE THE DOOBIES CAUSE HE DOES !!

  • Yep,, Give me the 70's and early 80's rock ANYTIME !!! Bob Seger, REO Speedwagon, UFO, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Queen, Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan !!! man there will NOT be a era like that anymore !! nothing coming out in the mid 90's to today is worth anything !!! yea there may be some bands that have a song or two,, but then POOF they are GONE !!! GIVE ME THAT OLD TIME ROCK & ROLL !!!!! enough said !!

  • @srvcarl77 please add ...... the Doobie Brothers! ;-)

  • @2hansome sorry but never liked the Doobie Brothers

  • @srvcarl77 I was a bit shortsighted ~ someone appreciating Kiss and Dr Ted, what was there to expect ;-). Do yourself a favor; check YT for 'Doobs + Without You' (at Wolftrap).............

How was it? Short of breath?? TC

  • @2hansome Does EVERYBODY have to like the Doobie Brothers just because YOU DO ??? talk about shortsighted !!! You dick heads that want to knock people because of who theylike or don't like are the stupidest people on the internet!! take you DB videos and stick them ok ??? get it ?? I don't give a rats ass about them and nothing will change my mind !! I thought they were LAME ! at least KISS and Ted ROCKED !! P.S. who calls Ted "Dr. Ted " ??? LMAO !!

  • @srvcarl77 Everybody? I am posting to a '77 Carl. No worries:Typically, bands like the Doobs, Bad Company and Little Feat are not appreciated by inmature, cursing retards. That's a clinically sound term for a folks who, f.i., have a specific testesterondisorder. Guess you lead a (un-)happy 'life' LOL (2x)

  • @2hansome Who the F&@K do YOU think you are you little wimp ?? gonna get on me for WHO I LIKE?? then your gonna CRY about me cursing ??? why don't you go down to Kmart and buy a pair of balls !!! they are buy one get one free you dink !!!Your bet your ass I'm LEADER OF THE PACK !I don't take SHIT from losers like you!! don't like it?? TUFF SHIT !!!don't start something you can't finish !!!! why don''t you include ABBA, Cher, Simon & Garfunkel, to your list !! Now run away little boy !!

  • @srvcarl77 hahaha, fantastic post ;-) keep them comin'!

  • @2hansome Nope I've said my mind, and wasted enough time on you,, so you can go and rock out to the Doobies, Little feat, Abba, Captain & Tennille, and all those other great groups you love so much !!! I'm actually rather bored with you now, you don't bring much to the table !

  • @srvcarl77 There are still good bands you just have to look harder to find them and above all DO NOT TRUST YOUR RADIO!!! The crap they play on the radio is just watered down repetitive garbage.

  • @chadg1971

But there is still nothing now anywhere close to as good as classic rock. but i agree there is still some decent stuff..

  • @srvcarl77 AWESOME COMMENT!!!!I agree 1,000,000 %!!!!

  • LEGEND

  • Ladies and gentlemen...THIS is ROCK! Everyone in the "rock" scene today should be forced to listen to this to learn how to truly rock!

  • just brill , great.

  • Bob Seger is the best musician of all time.

  • If only some singers can put, the Vocal, Passion and Performance Like the Great Bob Seger...in this I think is the Best .

  • All I know that this is an awsome performance of a sexy rockstar. My homeboy

  • I was born too late...but still think Bob Seger is really hot.

    I could have been yours.

  • It's a great song but the performance is excruciatingly bad. Seger needs a shave, a haircut, and dance lessons. There are also way too many people just playing tambourines. makes me want to shout, "More cowbell!"

  • this is in san diego ...'79 it's on the bonus dvd of 'face the promise'

  • what a set!!! and ive seen u2 god knows how many times , rank amateurs compared to this!!!!!!!

  • he just looks like hes having a great time performing

  • awesome! can you imagine a band being like this today?

  • YouTube recommended this video. Great tune and entertainer.

    E-T

  • Brings back memories! I used to lift weights to this back in high school. You could ALWAYS do a little more when Seger was blasting on the stereo.

  • What an entertainer! I have enjoyed several of their concerts.

  • Outstanding American music artist... Wooooo

  • He was the first concert my parents took my sister and I to...I was 6ish and she was 4...still love him! :) We know every word to all his songs and he plays in our cars..and in our homes on a daily basis...just amazing! :)

  • Boys, it wasn't just rock and roll. It was music period.

But you old boys are right. I don't know a band alive today who could pull this off. This and Cocker's "With a little help from my friends" from Woodstock is what rock and roll and music should be all about.

  • First class 5*****

  • what a beautiful man!

  • me and my dad sitin here watchin this video feelin cool

  • One of the greatest songs of all time, thanks for posting.

  • i saw seger open up for sabbath in greensboro nc in 77. sabbath kicked his butt, it was a good show none the less

  • Comment removed

  • if i had one selection to bring to the next world

this is the one i would pik

    bob seger night moves album

  • Rock n Roll.... like no other !

  • I'm glad to have Nine Tonite double album on my stereo and of course cd version in my car. This version is even more hot.. Yes this is 78' era., This song makes you drive fast!! One of the guys of this mob knows it.. :)

  • Bob is on the road again. Just wish he'd come to Europe!

  • It's Axle Rose !!

  • Great Song, great Drums!!!

  • One of the great voices in Rock and great songs to boot.

  • I was lucky to see Bob Segers in the 1980's and his last concert in 2007. I enjoyed it more the 2nd time around. What a voice even at 60+ years of age. Best concert ever! I hope he has one more tour left in him because young people should check him out to see and hear a real performer with talent!

  • Lol, I love when he says, "she was born with a face that would let her get her way" :) I try to use that to my advantage sometimes ;)~

  • Boston ,Mass.

  • Back in the late 1970's no one did it better live than Seger.

  • What a voice! Total Rock N' Roll, cant beat it

  • class song bob at hes best

  • Put this in a time capsule and say : "this is Rock&Roll"

  • @fathersandsons1

    F***in' A!

  • Fantastic song and great vid!! Always loved this song!

  • amazing tune, great performance

  • Metallica better leave this one alone ... they already butchered Turn the Page -- and Tuesday's Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd, so in that case, they better never touch Free Bird either.

Betcha Bob could sing a mean Free Bird, though!

  • I thought they did a good job on the cover, but there is hardly anything ever as good as the original. I hear people on youtube claim that so-and-so has a better version of some Black Sabbath song all the time. With probably 100 bands covering Black Sabbath, how can anyone be better? And so it goes.

It's not about being better. It's about showing respect for great music when you cover a song.

  • an' i still think that's hyde from that 70's show on tanbourine...

  • i love this tune...love bob...love his genuine smile...but there's gotta be a little coke involved, right?

  • FUCK YEAH!!!! Remember when this came out. The 70's were THE BEST! EV-ER!!!!!!!!!!

  • He knew right then he was too far from home....

  • This is from the Boston Garden - Bob Seger's second home. Michigan always liked our J. Geils Band - we always liked your Bob Seger. Two places that know their rock and roll.

  • I'm not saying Bob was the best. But I'm going to say there are not many better!!!!!!!

  • wish i could have been there

  • Damn, the Silver Bullet Band is tight.

  • this is boston at the old boston garden

  • Best live performer/band in history. PERIOD! I saw him back in the day. 8 rows out, Boston Garden 1980. 1st concert I ever went too. Still the best I ever saw.

  • wow this is so fkn class .love it

  • at 3:48...how'd he get hyde from that 70's show on tambourine?

  • i was born in 82 but i swear i was born in the wrong generation lol there is nothing like good old rock! Awesome performance from a time when musicians and singers actually had talent. Not like the crap thats out today.

  • elwichito....yeah ya missed the 70's alright, so many great bands were out back then, music hit a low note in teh mid 80's and pretty much sucked after that.

  • Great comment. I was born in 53 and I am constantly amazed by the amount of people I meet who say the same as you! Our youngest is a rock drummer (as is her husband) and at 26 she rate this way above the throwaway junk of today. Rock on! : -)

  • Thnx for the kind reply i am a drummer as well and i live in the Live Musical Capital of the world. :) I have to give my dad all the thanks for introducing good music to me.He is a truck driver and i just remember when i was a kid the 5hr drive from Laredo to Houston nothing but GREAT american rock all the way.I'm just glad my dad had and has good taste in music lol if not i'd be screwed.

  • @elwichito I agree!

  • too cool...his hair is longer than mine there....lol.....love it...great sound 4 a live recording too....can't help but to rock out to this one!

  • Hey LindendV .......

What do you mean Bob RIP??? The guy is still alive and playing music.

  • kids there days.....

how can u compare bob seger with axl rose or king of leon...

    drop dead

  • Awesome.

    Great song, great musicians.

    Bob R.I.P.

  • love the bass guitar

  • Great, looks like Axl Rose!

  • kings of leon sound like this, you mean.

  • i get what you're tryin to say.

  • Good for the soul !!!!

  • the best

  • que buena musica sobre todo la bateria y el bajo

  • was that foreplay

  • needless to say, bob once fisted my ass with a catchers mitt

  • Really? how did that work out?

  • Hell yeah!!! He's rocking the shit in this one!!!

    Love the hair!!

  • Bob seger rocks, I can't believe I'm only just getting into his stuff, I may only be 25 but my music taste has always been pretty diverse and deep into the rock genre but that's what is great about rock you'll always find someone whose been around for years and end up loving their music

  • AGREED....I didn't know anything really about him until a few months ago...hes awesome though

  • Listen to this Silver Bullet Band drummer - he's the hardest working drummer in rock 'n' roll history - what a hot tater!

  • I saw Seger at least 3 times in the 1980's, at Poplar Creek Music Theatre, in Hoffman Estates, IL (a NW suburb of Chicago). Sadly, Poplar Creek is gone ... it is now part of the campus of the Sears headquarters.

What fun times there ... drinkin ... carryin on ... rolling down the lawn seating in the mud ... and, of course, sharing an illegal smoke with friends you just met!

Seger epitomizes all that, and more. He's one of Rock-And-Roll's GREATEST!

    Rock on, Dude!

  • Saw Seger in 2006, better late than never! He still has everyone jumping! As for Poplar Creek, what great times I had there in the 80's--Beach Boys, Moody Blues, Genesis, Elton John!! Now it's the Sears Centre Arena, featuring sports. What a waste of land :(

  • WELL SAID!

  • Ann Arbor's finest.

  • Looks like this was from the same concert filmed for use in the movie "Still the Same" - he's wearing the same clothes, at any rate. (That clip's on YouTube, too.)

  • Well this video that I found is the same. I did a side by side analysis and at the beginning of the other one Bob says "good to be back in Boston.".

  • paneeks1960....you could not be more wrong. i agree that bands in the 60's and 70's were very great and the energy was unreal. todays music is mostly bullshitand sucks. there are many bands that have so much talent, creativity, and energy it will knock ur socks off.....dont be so bitter

  • I can't even imagine what it would have been like to be there. That was amazing. The song is one of my favourites.

  • Fuckin Awesome! Just imagine being there that night. Oh yeah.

  • No bubble gum or twinkies thrown in with Bob Seger's music. Seger took us to those magic heights during the shows in the 70's to which was something you had to experience THEN! I agree with my friend below me {RobertDesrosiers} because a great Rock and Roll show in the 70's made you feel energized. It took your spirit to levels that you cannot experience with today's shows. The bands gave you everything and more and it was real. I just hope what goes around, still comes back around?

    Rob/Boston

  • Just pure fucking magic. When Rock and Roll took you somewhere, made your spirit soar.

Nowadays kids listen to a song and they want to throw a noose around their necks or eat a bullet. Where did the magic go...

  • obviously, RobertDesrosiers and Paneeks1960, you two haven't been to any shows lately. get your heads out of the bitter sands of time and go to a show. there's tons of good stuff these days- different, but just as energetic and hopeful.

  • Oh allow me to retort. I have a music collection that would rival any collage radio station. I did not stop listening to music when the 8 trck went out of fasion. I have music from every genre, from the blues to Emo. Perspective is not what I lack. And todays music falls short. Thats my position and i'm sticking to it!

  • RD.

I have to agree. As a recording engineer in my late 40's, there has been very little that has pricked my ears up in the last 15 or so years.

To these tired ears, music has become so "dummed down", that I cannot be bothered being a consumer any more. (Let alone a producer).

Sadly, my radio station of choice nowadays consists almost entirely of world news and current affairs, with a bit of talkback thrown in.

Not because I'm tired of music, but simply because most of what's on offer is CRAP!
