Why did Jesus Christ, the very Son of God himself, proclaim the reality of God's wrath and the extreme danger of Hell to a much greater extend than he proclaimed God's love and mercy. For God's mercy to be mercy, there must be something he is giving us mercy from.

@Romankrikov That does not mean He is not a righteous God. We cant always preach about love and heaven. We have to preach the good news of the gospel. But Most people dont know the bad news. That they are about to fall in hell without Jesus. why is it that when you tell someone the gospel they dont seem interested? This is fucking ridiculous. A God who would create billions of people knowing full well that he would have to torture 2/3 of them for eternity IS NOT A GOOD GOD. No one would choose hell (assuming we have free will), people are only rejecting false perceptions of God, if they truly knew who God was in reality they wouldn't be able to reject something that good. God would have to send them to hell forever which is fucking horrible and sadistic and serves no purpose. punishment is for correction.

i like how some people think this is a legalist sermon. it is not. it is a genuine call to repentance to "Christian" people. the idea was to tell people no matter how many rules you set up, no matter hpw righteous you acted, if you were without Christ, you were damned. it got people out of their comfort zone of feeling superior, and got them into the reality of Chrisy
The problem is that every christian thinks this applies to "someone" else. Every revival is preceded by a great repentence...from the CHURCH. Men would lay with their faces towards God in repentence, woman would be burdened for the lost. I've read every kenneth hagin book wrote and even in his revivals woman would come up to him feeling "lost" and "like they were going to hell" when they interceded for others. The reality and fear of hell would come upon them.

This idea seems very radical. I am a christian and do not belive that every sin you do will get you sent to hell, I also do not belive you have to convert to Purtian to be in heaven. I just think not every moment you spend has to be praiseing god, I still praise god but do not send every wakeing moment worried about hell.
Now we are in the day of Grace,it is easy to be saved, make the decision today. I have many years ago and can testify of Gods loving grace in Jesus Christ

Wow! I guess I missed the point. I thought this sermon was a parody of christian thought. I thought it was really funny. Then I read some of the comments, and was shocked to find out that it was to be taken seriously, and that the people who commented took it that way. It's so sad. It must be horrible for people to live their lives with so much fear?

Great video. He did not even hold back hell from the children listening to the sermon but directed it at them so they would repent also.I bet all those children thought twice before they disobeyed there parents that night. This is a warning from the God of the bible to repent or be damned forever to all people. But so many will harden their hearts and not turn to Jesus for salvation......so sad.. Whether you agree with it or not, it is a huge part of Christian history. It was written by Jonathon Edwards which sparked the Great Awakening, and a new phase in chuch history. If you read in Revelations, this is probably the beginning of the church of Philadelphia. It was an actual church in 95 A.D., but the bible seems to fullfill a double fullfillment. Just a piece of history, whether you agree with the message or not.

i like how some people think this is a legalist sermon. it is not. it is a genuine call to repentance to "Christian" people. the idea was to tell people no matter how many rules you set up, no matter hpw righteous you acted, if you were without Christ, you were damned. it got people out of their comfort zone of feeling superior, and got them into the reality of Chrisy

The problem is that every christian thinks this applies to "someone" else. Every revival is preceded by a great repentence...from the CHURCH. Men would lay with their faces towards God in repentence, woman would be burdened for the lost. I've read every kenneth hagin book wrote and even in his revivals woman would come up to him feeling "lost" and "like they were going to hell" when they interceded for others. The reality and fear of hell would come upon them.

This idea seems very radical. I am a christian and do not belive that every sin you do will get you sent to hell, I also do not belive you have to convert to Purtian to be in heaven. I just think not every moment you spend has to be praiseing god, I still praise god but do not send every wakeing moment worried about hell.

Wow! I guess I missed the point. I thought this sermon was a parody of christian thought. I thought it was really funny. Then I read some of the comments, and was shocked to find out that it was to be taken seriously, and that the people who commented took it that way. It's so sad. It must be horrible for people to live their lives with so much fear?

If you are right, then I lose about 80 years which I still am enjoying. But if I'm right, I gain eternity. I would honestly rather lose 80 years of life than spend eternity in hell. Think about that for awhile and you might find you are in great danger.

This is real & bold, which is exactly what the modern day church is lacking. If only all ears could really hear the truth behind these words and heed warning! How foolish to depend on ones own ideas. Thank you Lord for your mercy, because you don't owe us a thing and still you give us a life line & save us from our very much deserved punishment. Love this sermon : )

A christian is only a true christian when he lives in fear of god and until then, he is under judgment of the Lord who, with omnipotent power can destroy us all and send us to the pits of hell as Jonathan Edwards has correctly preached. Hell is eternal as it had been created that way and cast into hell are the sinners which we all are.

The world's most famous, and possibly the most true sermon ever given. Jonathan Edwards is arguably the most intelligent Theologian in America at that time, or since - also, he was (by God's grace of course) most responsible for the Great Awakening!

Great video. He did not even hold back hell from the children listening to the sermon but directed it at them so they would repent also.I bet all those children thought twice before they disobeyed there parents that night. This is a warning from the God of the bible to repent or be damned forever to all people. But so many will harden their hearts and not turn to Jesus for salvation......so sad.. We need more hell and brimstone preaching back in the churches for time is short.

No religion in the world compares to the true gospel of Jesus Christ. For only the gospel of Jesus Christ destroys any hope of man ever doing even the smallest thing to find salvation. @BlehGastly Every world religion/philosophy has some manner of man earning his way into salvation/nirvana/enlightenment/etc. The key difference is what man does. The God of the Bible, the God of the grace of Jesus Christ makes it crystal clear that man does nothing to earn anything but eternal damnation. But by the mercy of the Lord, is anyone saved. Not by merit of what a person does, but by the glory of what Jesus did and by what he did alone.

None of the other world religions have a literal historical figure: Jesus, whose life is more attested to than anything in history. Jesus whose teachings are more reliable than any other literature in history. The world's many lies have nothing in common with the truth of Jesus Christ. It is Jesus that we must all face, not Zeus, Horus, Shiva, Odin, Bodhisatva, Allah, or any other false god. Jesus is the only true Living God.

@BlehGastly True, there are many cultural, historical and societal "overlappings" and "intertwinings" in terms of religious ideas and figures. It would be terribly difficult to try and dispute this from a sober glance at history. But, perhaps there is a Thread of Truth which has persisted since the beginning of time which supersedes and transcends cultures, histories and societies of all kinds. Thous some have recognized aspects of this Truth, only some have received in its entirety.

@BlehGastly It is also important to note that all religions that exist force participants to rely upon their own merits, their own lives in order to attain salvation (or the equivalent thereof). Every religion, that is, except for true Christianity. True Christianity invites individuals to trust in the merits of Jesus Christ for salvation. No man, no woman, can do enough to earn the favor of God. We will always fall short. It took the perfect Man, Jesus Christ, to provide the Way.

I wish we could have been spared all the dramatic effect and let the Spirit of God stand on it's own without our help.I'd always heard people make reference to this sermon but this the first time I've heard it There were many distractions around me so I'll have to give another listen but from what I was able to hear it was awesome.

This is such a great sermon. This is the best rendition of it I've heard. Usually the speaker is so monotone, but this one has passion and energy as he reads it. It's a truthful warning of what is to come if you don't turn to Christ. Thanks for this and God bless you!

Whether you agree with it or not, it is a huge part of Christian history. It was written by Jonathon Edwards which sparked the Great Awakening, and a new phase in chuch history. If you read in Revelations, this is probably the beginning of the church of Philadelphia. It was an actual church in 95 A.D., but the bible seems to fullfill a double fullfillment. Just a piece of history, whether you agree with the message or not.

Like i`ve stated many times before, this personal god is the creation of man`s vivid, delusional imagination.

No, it was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost(see 2 Tim.3:16). The Koran's god is nothing like the God of the Bible. The God of the Bible is a TRINITY(Three Persons, One God), the god of the Koran is non-trintitarian. The God of the Bible has a Son, the god of the Koran has no son. They are not the same. You do your homework, and better yet, get saved while you stil can, you will wish you did for all of eternity as you suffer the feirce wrath of Jehovah God in Hellfire!

I know it is rather unfortunate, but that is the way the world is. As long as there is free will. There will be those who don't choose him. We can't force anyone to think one certain. All we can do is offer them what the Lord has given us. They can choose to accept it or decline. Hopefully in the end they make the right choice. Thanks for your reply!

You will remember every time a Christian lovingly tried to plead with you to be saved, but you were too hard-hearted and proud to bow the knee to Jesus Christ in faith. Repent of your unbelief and trust Jesus Christ while you still can, before it is everlastingly too late. You have no excuse according to Romans Ch.1. Atheism is foolish.
