A soothing, hypnotic vocal and arrangement.  This is what is called "classy" to all of those who think GLEE and AMERICAN IDOL are worth anything.

Fans of the song should check out the 1964 film THE AMERICANIZATION OF EMILY starring Julie Andrews and James Garner; an excellent satire on war that features a score by Mr. Mandel and screenplay by Paddy Chayefsky. I believe the song was written after the film's release as a way to help "sell' the film and the score.

Tony Bennett has said that the album on which we find this beautiful song, "The Movie Song Album," is his favorite of all those he's done. His is the finest interpretation of "Emily" I've ever heard -- and the album is indeed *great*...
