This guy seems like a really cool nurse. I Would like to be like him one day. You have to be pretty smart to be a nurse critically thinking right on the spot life or death decisions, solving problems, helping people get healthy, maintaing pain, interacting with people is not that easy.

I'm a junior in high school and I was watching the discovery health channel (my favorite channel) and ever since I have this urge to become an ER nurse. I've always wanted to work in a hospital, but I dont want to be a doctor. I was wondering what their salary is? I would looove to work in a hospital it looks like such a friendly environment.

Male nurse makes the same as a female nurse as far as I have seen in the ER and the flight nurse usually requires some time spent in the ER and/or icu and your paramedic certification. About to finish my respiratory therapist school and while I was in RT school and a little bit before I was a ER tech which is also a good way to decide what you really want to do while getting paid and having responsibility about the pt care and developing vertical thinking. Nice job Will, I have been an ER nurse for 15 years. You did a great job conveying some of the public misconceptions not only about nursing and gender but also in conveying what ER nurses do! There are a lot more men going into nursing now and I think public perception is slowly changing.

im a guy, im a nurse (lpn, but im in a bsn program now), the patients always think im doctor. everything that u said is true. they ALWAYS ask me why don't I just go to medical school, but never ask the women. its cool, i work on a psych unit, and u never see the same thing. not many "medical intensive" issues, but still fun.

Years ago people would only think nurses were girls. I honestly used to think that, but after seeing male nurses in the hospital and knowing some that are becoming nurses there awesome guys. They've saved many lives.
