i have the MR-01and drive with 1200 mAh AAA they load about 15h but they works for 30-40 min. so buy 8. Then you can drive more than an hour.

what do you mean by normal? NiMHs are normal and available everywhere :D

But yes, you can use Alkaline AAAs, however, I don't think they can provide the same current as NiMHs and NiCds, so it will be slower. I remember a while back comparing alkaline and NiMH in my 130-powered (mini-z size motor) mini-4wd and it was like night and day.

it myt be jst me but i find my racer mini z to be impracticle because i cant find anywhere to race it. like in my dining room its to small n through my house its just way to small. also my wheels spin so fast that it doesnt get any traction and its like a car going 80 on ice. it just swerves. does anyone know if i can get tires with better traction? also my monster truck runs out of batteries if i take it off one jump... pretty annoying over all tho there gud

Sort of, I never purchased the Overland series models. It either comes stock with AWD or can be retrofitted with any kit. If this doesn't answer your question, ask someone on customer service.

No, but if you want you can purchase another motor that isn't brushless for less than $20.00 online. That will give it a distinctive irritating "Formula 1" noise for realism.
