  • unknown real guitar hero!!!

  • well I´m going to be honest, lot of Rorys things are for me too hard, but his acoustic stuff is mind breakin and his rock n roll or pure blues like Gambling blues too. Bullfrog blues is simply fuckin great RnR .... enough ? ;-)

  • What a virtuoso he was....one of the best ever!

Yes he was shy and charming: I have beeb luchy enough

to have a beer with him in bar in Montreux in 1970 and

he was still with Taste at that time playing Sugar Mama

like a hell and Gambling Blues too....whaouuuu!

40 years ago and still right in my mind!

    Thank you Rory!

  • Oh, he knew how good he was...but he had fun with it, and did what he wanted to do. Played the blues. Rock on, Rory!

  • This Rascal was unreal.

    Miss you, Rory.

  • wow... it's great...!

  • @bungaciput

    Glad you liked it !!

  • RORY GALLEGHER AND HIS BAND IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE NICEST MODEST ROCK AND ROLL OUTFIT THAT LIVED TO PLAY AND DIDNT THINK THEY WERE ABOVE THEIR AUDIENCE VERY FEW BELONG IN THAT CATEGORY RORY,MIKE BLOOMFIELD........... THERE JUST AINT THAT MANY

  • does anyone know what tuning he uses for this??

  • @NintendoSinceBirth1 I believe it is open A tuning with a capo on the 2nd fret.

  • The best four piece band on the plantet.

  • I was going to write something clever about modern day music being overly processed and this being simple and true and blah blah blah , but in the end it's just 'FU*K YEAH"!!!!!!!

  • Rory McIlroy rocks on the bass!!

And í've also got a fender... but hey, i still wish i could play as damned good as he does. totally epic!!

  • @robinrudwick: this was recorded on ‎16th July 1975 - BBC London - Old Grey Whistle Test.

  • holy shit the musicianship is from another planet!!

  • rip rory, you're a million miles away...

  • anybody know when this vid was recorded?

  • @robinrudwick

I may be wrong but based on the lineup - Rod de'Ath on drums and Lou Martin on keyboard - and Rory's outward appearance (especially his hair length and style) I'd say the performance was recorded around 1975/1976.

  • @robinrudwick i think in the 70'

  • Meu Bluesman Favorito desde 1972..........Demais meu......eu já sabia, kkkkkkkkkkkk Ainda bem que colocaram esse video, parabéns mesmoooooooooooooo............

    me me me!!!!!!!!

  • Nope, I'm not "mistake" (sic); The Falls Church Community Center (not centre) in Falls Church, Virginia, USA, within a year one way or the other. I'm not mistaken, numbnuts ... I was there.

  • @tombotucker HELLO DUDE, i live here on the shankill road in belfast, ulster, and we are not as daft as some people may think, but when i make a statement,i try and let people know were and when i was speaking about, the falls in belfast is a very different place to the one you refer to,the internet a great tool, but you still have to talk the talk,i am no mind reader here, youknow what i mean dude, and you still dont know what date it was,but you did say america this time so we can narrow it down TIT

  • Jerry McAvoy,and Wilgar Campbell?

  • I saw this dude do this tune at a crappy little place called the Falls Church Community Center in 1972, I think with this same keyboard/guitar/bass/drum setup. He kicked ass then and this song still kicks ass today.

  • @tombotucker Think you must be mistake for someone else,The great man did not play the falls road centre, wise up

  • I miss good music like this.Thankfully we still have Buddy Guy and George Thorogood ..;-))

  • This song heals my soul every day.

  • Did he improvise the vocals on this one? Also, the keyboard thing he did at the end didn't even seem planned. He was just ending the song, saw the keyboard laying unused there and played a cool outro riff. This man is a beast.

  • it's this damn bass solo and burtons Pulling teeth that made me wanna play bass :)

  • 1 of the best bass solos iv ever heard!

  • the maestro

  • thanks !!

    brilliant !!!!!

  • I still don't know how the hell he can play that slide so cleanly with a pick, it's insane

  • @ArmedAlex He uses a high action i'm sure. I can play slide cleanly with a pick. Try a pick like a Dunlop Eric Johnson Jazz III.

  • Thanks. Great Rod D'Ath solo. Gerry is on and the band is by far the best for Rory's sound. Miss them all.

  • un moment de bonheur de plus dans ma vie <3 !!!

  • early motorhead on drums lol

  • One mother of a bass solo and rory is emense as usual.

  • Love the Drummer's shirt lol

  • AWSOME I LUV THE BASS SOLO

  • This song without a doubt just define's Rock/Blues. This version should be up on some pedestal in the hall of Rock.

  • This just reminds me of Rory Fest.....What a fantastic, gifted, soulful and amazing musician...the greatest our country has ever produced. RIP Rory 'Gone But Not Forgotten'.

  • take a bit of time to listen to a bit of rory tomorrow guys, it would have been his 62 birthday! in my mind the greatest ever Irish musican.

  • rocker53zero,this is awesome! I don't know why but I just love the heck out of Rory,he's so darned cute, and what a guitar player, and that piano man is better than Jerry Lee Lewis! I NEVER thought I'd say that about anyone! xxx Thanks for sending this my way xxxx

  • We need more bands like Rory Gallagher this day and age

  • @MrJwalking1 I agree, but it's hard to find talent coupled with the conviction to stick to your plan like Rory did!

He never caved in to commercialism and that brought him loyal fans forever!!

    R.I.P.

  • Rod DE'ath, what a drum machine!!!

    Insane kicker tempo.

  • This encore was not orginally broadcast?

What, it wasn't good enough? This is the essence of rock&roll, distilled down to this 10 minutes. It can't be done much better than this.

  • No, the programme had a fixed time slot, and went out unedited. so, at 38 minutes, they ran the roller....

  • You're right, it cant :D Best Jam..

  • @kw21925 nno the show was longer than the programme ?so thet cut this out ,,played lately as a tribute to rory ,,,,,gerry mcevoy and ex rory band members still kikkin ass with dennis greaves in NINE BELOW ZERO ,,,,,,BUTLINS@SKEGNESS EVERY JANUARY 3 NIGHTS OF BANDS LIKE THIS ,,,YOUTUBE BUTLINS ROCK N BLUES 2010 SEE LAST LINE UP ,,,,RAWWKKIIN WEEKEND ...

  • does anyone one know what tuning hes useing.

  • Fairly sure it's open A :)

  • its open b :)

  • I stand corrected then lol! ^^

  • No it`s the open a tuning with a kapodasta on the 2. Fret. You also can use the open g tuning and put the kapodasta on the 4. Fret. But it´s the same

  • love the way he lets the band shine as well.just love his music notin else to say:)

  • whats the thing on his finger. i can just nver remember the name of it haha

  • slide/bottle neck

  • great Rory clip .. but the best is in Montreaux ... or Glasgow .. where saw him do the stack climb .. at the Appollo ... thanks for posting ... Rory was the Man .

  • feck me in the arse hole ya gota say gerry mac is a fantastic bass aswell as rory being the best guitarist ever ( in my opinion)..such class and passion.. its all lust for me.

  • I've had the pleasure of sitting at Rory's feet while he played the Lodge in Dillsburg ,PA.USA in 72,and York College ,York,PA in 73/74. Rory's entire band stayed at friend's home.including Rory. Magical times. Even now,35 yrs later, seems like a dream....

  • Awesome band! Rory at his best and Lou Martin...'a god of the keys!

McAvoy and Dalziel are the icing on the cake! :)

    Just shit-hot blues man!

  • Rory missed!!

  • great!!!!! :)))))

  • Year??

    Martin increible!

  • good man Rory, play that bitch like you stole it.

  • not mentioned in the top 100 guitar players in rollingstone WHAT WERE THEY THINKING I GIVE UP.. EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY...DONT...IT

  • I know what a complete twat or twats the writer's musy have been.

  • deaf dumb blind kid sure works for rolling stone and the FOOLS that buy it

  • I was told K. Cobain makes #9 and Dave Gilmour#80 and Rory and also Steve Vai never made the list. never bought the mag and that show's good judgement by me, the list must have been a Crock.

  • of shit. That magazine was a crock of shit. Rory didn't even seek fame.

  • thats just typical

  • Wow. That is just....f**kin' awesome.

  • like the bass solo!!

  • Is Lou Martin the inspiration for Ralph???

  • perfekt, einfach nur perfekt!!!

  • Rory kicks shit like no other. Pure class.

  • Rory war einfach ein Gott....

  • brilliant performance,, shame this part wasnt shown on tv until he died.. a true legend

  • a lovely man a great guitarist and he rocked

good on you Rory....1973 newcastle city hall england

    magic

  • That's so cool because unless he played twice there in NCH 73, my old man must have been at the same gig. He saw him twice, once as you mentioned and another a year or so later that he cant remember :D

  • no man, the shirt says "star trek lives!"

  • My first view of Rory Gallagher,he reminds me of Alvin Lee in this clip. Nothing wrong with that!

  • Your right,i've watched and listened to too many guitarists. Beck,Clapton,Hendrix,Page,Townsend,Krieger,Buchanan,Burton,Cropper,Iommi,Blackmore,Wray,Young,Bloomfield and somebody named Alvin Lee. lol Where do i find time to listen to Rory? If you think comparing someone to Alvin lee is an insult maybe you better watch Woodstock.

  • Saw it when it was first released. I think Alvin Lee is a brilliant Guitarist. Thing is, I've saw Rory live and that kind of sways the issue for me. There are a few people in your list that I don't know the work of, so I can't profess to be any sort of expert, but it's a shame that Rory G doesn't have a higher reputation.

  • That's the point i was trying to make.I've listened to and watched many guitarist's before and this was my first view of Rory and that's who he reminded me of.santacruezz was the person who told me about him and if you're a fan of Rory check his site out. I watched Rory pt 1 and it combines all the different styles of his playing in a 10 minute capsule. I see why people consider him great and i feel the same way about him now. Hey at my age i'm still learning and listening. lol

  • Cool....

  • @joez116I wouldn't say alvin lee is brilliant and his woodstock performance was not one of his bests... , he kinda has a more showy way of doing things and sometimes his speed takes out from his phrasing and tone... besides that hes great except for funny vocals

  • I have the world record in watching this video... 23487 times...

  • rory david gerry lou the are the best

  • now thats a performance, pure!

  • lol does rod have a shirt that says star trek sucks lol

  • man what a band!... awsome show!! thanx for posting.

  • Great bassist, loved his solo.

And I love how Rory changed the lyrics, awesome!
