In the eighties, MAD magazine didn't have advertising, just parodies. So when the had a promotion for this board game on the back cover of one issue, they had to print in the margin "Real Advertisement"
oh! and i want the MAD card game and i also have 2 issues of mad and i got a 2 yr subscription and with that im getting a reprint of issue 96th special middle of the road issue. :) :3
10 years ago, I found the Mad Magazine game at a garage sale. It had all the pieces and was in fantastic shape. To this day, it is one of my all time favorite board games.
Mad Magazine games that I wish and we wish to play it where we never played from the games we know. And the Mad Magazine Board Game is the best to play coming out!
I used to read Mad every month plus the specials, and stick Don Martin's stickers all over the house. Flash forward 40 years, I get out of surgery and my sister mails me this board game... This is great! If I can get my grown kids to sit down and play dad's goofy game with me!
I had this game when I was a kid. I had a stupid freind that didn't understand the rules of the game. example, when I got a card that read lose $200, he thought he also lost $200. I argued with him and put the game away. If we finished the game, the game would be tied.
This game sat in our basement for years, don't know how it got there. Me and my brothers were all born in the 70's and the game came out in '79, so I don't quite get it.
Later I became a Mad fanatic and I got into the game. At some point I rescued it from being sold at a yard sale. Not sure where it is now. Real exciting stuff, huh?
My wife and I just played that game tonight. I landed on a spot where I had to wait until she moved past me and then I could move with her. She landed on a spot where I had to roll a one or a seven to get her out. We had to come up with our own rule: the first person rolling a seven goes next.
OMG! My name is Melissa Ballan and I'm the little red head in the commercial! I never thought I would see that again! WOW!
The "dad" in the commercial is Richard Kind.
He went to star in "Spin City" and "Mad About You". The commercial was so fun to film, and there was at least five different versions of this! How cool!!!!
I think they should really come out with a mad monopaly everything else has one why shouldn,t mad not that this game wasn't fun I would love to see mad as a monopaly though
I have this game and the card game. Always remember to roll the dice with your left hand.

I had this when I was a kid, but just found it at a yard sale for 50 cents. My 7-year-old LOVES it! Great, silly game.

An example of a Card Card: "If you can jump up and stay airborne for 37 seconds, you can lose $5,000. If not, jump up and lose $500."

Hi Brian!
This is Melissa! How cool that you remember me!
What did you do on the shoot?
I remember they were so paranoid about the game getting wet or dirty,
it wasn't real, or it was the only one, something like that!

@crakkerjakk Didn't you get that if your name WASN'T Alfred? Or am I wrong? Could be, the memory's fading...
That game was ridiculous! lol

Alfred E. Neuman is a kid of the Mad Magazine comics.

As a huge fan of Mad, I had to see this. However, it doesn't seem like it fits the magazine's style.
TonyDuMont 4 years ago
Yeah, I mean, in the 70s the magazine still had some bite. Wasn't there a cover that was nothing but a hand giving the middle finger?
arnyjk 4 years ago 2
Yes, it was Issue 166, one of their most memorable covers.
TonyDuMont 4 years ago
i played this, and it is like their tone of humor indeed
