  • Can someone link me the notes sheet? I really want to try to perform this. How long approximately did it take for you to learn this like that? ( Practiced bassoon for 6 years now )

  • you're just playing like its nothing... ._.

  • if i thought the bassoon player in my school was great i say this is more then amazing. BRAVO!!!!!

  • WOW

  • second 40 is very difficult! congratulations!

  • 0:21.....Bee is not amused.

  • 4 people are bumblebees

  • I had no idea you could do that on a bassoon. That's amazing, but then again he looks like a professional.

  • Yeah. Clarinet can play it. I bought the music

  • i fell off my chair... this is amazing do you know if it is possible for a clarinet to play this?

  • I love this video I also play the bassoon but I'm not nearly as good as this guy, I wanna do the contrabassoon but my school can't afford it haha

  • i wish i could play this i just need to know the fingerings

  • cool red basson

  • if any of you play bassoon like me, you'd understand that this man is freaking god for being able to play this.

  • this is one of the best videos of anybody playing The Flight of the Bumble Bee, i enjoyed it and i thank you for putting it on the web for others to see. Is this avalible and where?

  • Holy smoke, that was fantastic.

  • I typed in fagot and this was the top result ???

  • I'm sure that bumblebee in the audience is so proud!

  • I play bassoon, but I don't think I could play that fast :D

  • that bumble bee is so cute (:

  • greatt

  • wow

  • 240p? Come on! Bassoon deserves more than that!

  • LOVEIT!! Wish I could play mine like this!!x

  • ...WHAT!?!

  • amazing

  • i dont like the bassoon but that sounds great.

  • Can U post the notes to the song

  • Do You Play Contrabassoon if so what is different Please respond.

  • I have a question, how different is the oboe from the bassoon? i play the oboe but i also want to double on the bassoon

  • Lol why, when yoy type "faggot" into youtube

is this the first video.? lol.

  • @icecoldisaac86 in some countries this instrument is called the 'fagot', in the Netherlands for instance:)

  • hey what kind of basoon is that is it a fox, heckle moosmann idk

  • Lungs of infinite capacity!

  • Oh my goodness!!!!!THAT IS SOCOOL!!!!! HAHA! I would love to be able to do that!!!

  • wow

  • Awesome! You are awesome!!!

  • it's very very goog i very liked him

  • Just beautiful

  • this is great. you should join our band, we also use bassoon!

    5 stars from us!

  • Awesome. The cheesy bee animation was unnecessary though.

  • Nice bug.

  • No, sorry, it is not available publically.

  • hey one more question... i made it into all county orchestra for bassoon, is it hard to play sharps with the orchestra? does it sound wierd?

  • Yes, it can be difficult. The more you work with sharps, however, the better you will be at it.

  • @FunnyScreeners 8notes.com has free sheet music for this song i dont know if its for bassoon but if you can transpose..

  • I just had a look at this music. The arrangement is difficult to play at faster speeds. The low register passages in particular are clearly not arranged by a bassoonist.

  • @tewelltube o ok well i had never looked at the bassoon part i play saxophone but i love the bassoon

  • ncie job and by the way it looks like a huge bong...

  • hahah lmao i searched faggot adn found this... wtf

  • Also do you have any tips on circular breathing on the bassoon? I can bring in the air, but when i breathe out again i go really flat..

  • Please see my videos on circular breathing. I have two loaded on YouTube and the rest can be found at 2reed.net

  • what type and model of bassoon is that

  • i wonder if when he practices this song he has to buy a new reed everytime.

  • It is no more stressful on the reed than many other pieces I play. It is, however, stressful on the performer!

  • i am a first year bassoon and i was wondering if you could post a video for the song "In The Hall Of The Mountain King." i love that song i i am playing it for solo festival

  • "In the Hall of the Mountain King" is a wonderful song. The bassoon version, however, is still under copyright. If I posted it, I would be in violation of copyright. I realize that many others on YouTube violate copyright, but out of good conscience I won't. Sorry I can't help.

  • One person is a hornet

  • Great, I'm interesting in Bassoon, but I have to find someone over here who have it and try out. The fingering is much difficult than a flute. I like the ending :)

  • you sir, are a GOD

  • how long did it take you to learn that song and how experienced were you before you looked at it?

  • The bumblebee's like, " MY HERO!"

  • Epic circular breath at 0:40

  • Are there any notes that a bassoon can play higher than F?

  • Yes, there are notes higher than F5. See the Bassoon Family Fingering Companion

with the International Double Reed Society

  • Thank-you! :]

  • The bassoon sounds actually like a bumblebee!

  • I got a bassoon quartet together to play this piece for a competition, do you have any tips on how to make it sound as good as possible?

  • my mind: blown

  • people that can circular breathe r bawss.......... im jealous

  • Can you please post some sheet music for this? Is it in tenor clef or bass clef? And also, what key is it in?

  • Excuse me Terry-I am wrong about the key you're in. So sorry-it's still badass-a great performance!! I thought originally it was in G minor but you're playing it in A minor-that's a great key for that! Sounds fantastic. Great you're up here on YouTube and have such awesome videos-this is the way to go these modern days! Paul H.

  • GREAT PLAYING TERRY!! awesome. Very clean and well done. So nice to hear.

I would love to know if you used any special fingerings for high G# on the main melody when it goes to the IV chord (C). I have a few different fingerings for that note-right where you're playing fast on that part of the melody is a real tricky place-perfect for alternate fingerings. At any rate-WONDERFUL!

  • what kind of bassoon is that

  • Hey I'm thinking of applying and audtioning to the pre-admissions program at Juilliar this January and I have to read two peices of music from the Weissenborn Studies (advanced section), and I have to know all my major and minor scales. Do you have any tips? Your really good and I wish you lived in North Carolina because I bet you would be an awesome private instructor I need one really badly.

  • I feel so unaccomplished. Lol

  • I'm going to use this as my "goal" for bassoon. I've got a month to be good and I suck...really bad. I can't tune up my notes and I can't figure dynamics out (I know, pathetic). Any tips?

  • I tried bassoon this year and I thought that it didn't sound so well mainly because I was playing. It sounded way louder than what I've seen and it sounded way to deep. And when I tryed playing a Bb or something..the one above the staff it sounded like it was the 2nd line Bb how do I not do that?

  • You will need to tighten your embouchure, push the reed slightly further into your mouth, and perhaps use more air to produce B flat 3 and not B flat 2.

  • 5 stars! Awesome circular breathing

  • i agree it does sound way better on bassoon than any other instrument i currently play bass clarinet but i am starting bassoon lessons and they are going great and hopefully i will be playing in the band soon are there any easier bassoon duets that you reccomend not super easy but not super hard?

  • i like it but i cant play that fast yet! im only a first year bassoon player and can play like intermidate but this sounds hard lol

  • FANTASTIC JOB!!!!! I just started the bassoon and it is very hard instrument.

  • This is Amazing! I play tenor, but ia m switching to bassoon for symphonic. Nice tips also!

  • this is amazing! i would never be able to play this on my bassoon!!

  • hi im currently playing trumpet and i was thinking of playing bassoon next year but i dont know were to rent or buy a bassoon on long island do you know

  • hi im currently playing trumpet and i was thinking about trying out the bassoon ne play a double reed xt year but im not sure if i could play a double reed insrument do you have any edvice

  • Beautiful instrument and great performance!

  • nice man

  • lol the bee made me crack up :3 but he has a beautiful sound ;-;

  • Speachless...

  • Awesome....he is using circural breathing....

  • hi, i am currently playing French Horn, and am thinking about playing Bassoon, however my band teacher wants me on the horn :( anyway, i was just wondering if there are any tips? i looked at some of the earlier videos, but i was wondering what type of reed is best for beginners? I just bought a soft reed because i was told it would be best to start on, but what are the harder reeds for?

  • just for better tone and because your lips get stronger because there a muscle

  • It is difficult to respond to this. I can take any reed and make it "harder" or "softer" just by adjusting the wires. Generally that store bought reeds don't work well. Purchasing from a professional reed maker is your best approach or from a double reed company that specializes in selling reeds. You can email me at Towson University, if you want further advice. Terry

  • Ahhh, I miss my Jones cane! Cheap, but turned out some decent student reeds for the price. :( I've tried Rigotti, Glotin, and a couple others; still looking around for cane. Do you have any advice on what I can try out?

  • i KNOW! i need advice too, my very first reed was a jones reed and it was RIGHT after they discontinued them!

  • I started on Medium Soft. Would recommend that. :)

  • bassoon and oboe reeds are soft, med soft, med, med hard, and hard. beginners play on softer reeds becuase it is a LOT easier to play on. i play bassoon, and ive been playing for about 3 yrs now and im still on med hard reeds. but yeah, its all about the resistance of the reed, soft reeds have less resistance than hard reeds (sorry for mispellings) and i find it odd that your teacher doesnt want you on bassoon, does your band already have one?

  • I actuakky started on a med. hard / hard reed and i've been playing for about 2 years now. I found the hard to be fairly easier to play on then the med. hard but I'm just weird.

  • @MrErased

Go for it and fuck your teacher :D

In my opinion bass instruments are always my favourite.

    Bassoon > horn

    Bass Clarinet > Clarinet

    Contrabass > violin

    and etc.

  • sounds better on the bassoon than on any other instrument

  • @tflover1221

I think playing it on the horn is nice too. Or maybe chinese string instruments. Playing this on the bassoon is also quite nice, but you should hear it on french horn.

  • wow that was awesome!!!!

This is by far the best instrument for this song even better than the flute!!!!

  • Fantasy, it is simply delightful!!!

  • stupid video, but amazing playing.

  • i'm 14 years and i play the bassoon for four years, this is my fourth year and i can only play the beggining and the main theme. any help?

  • i play bassoon. that would be so hard for me to do!

  • bumblebee ! XD

  • You are my musical hero.

  • A good hero to choose.

  • My God! I hope i don't have to play that in school anytime soon!

    Good job though!!!

  • 5 stars. did you transcribe it?

  • I adopted a Russian version of the piece so that I play almost all the melodic parts.

  • Nice!

  • Hehehe, that's really cool. I have trouble playing the upper octave, where it goes to the high A and Bb. I get a little finger twisted. Are you using any alternate fingerings to hit those notes as smoothly as you are?

  • A few alternate fingerings might help. I occasionally use the left hand A (for high A, A4). Bb4 can also be played in certain chromatic passages by playing A4 and lifting the LH ring finger. This is also a trill fingering.

  • you have eternal respect.

  • BEEEEEEEEEEAAAST

  • your a beast

  • Oh My God! That is ridiculous/amazing!

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW AWESOME I am requiring my students to watch this

  • i love the bee ! jaja

  • fantastic!! I've seen a few videos of this and yours is by far the best!

I wish i could play like that!

  • I think he's doing circular breathing in most parts

  • Yes, I circular breathe in order to play one continuous line for much of the piece. I breathe before the recapitulation, since there is a break.

  • ever tried bass clarinet?

  • Never played bass clarinet. Sorry

  • I love the random little bee! It's so cute! X3

  • damn i am so jealouse...u rawk

  • haha, that was great. i loved the fake bee randomly inserted. it made me laugh.

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks so much.

  • I'm not really sure what to say . . . .

No compliment would be close to how amazing that was! I will leave you with an applause :)

  • u look a lot like my science teacher mr. kinkade

  • Poor guy!

  • this is wonderful.

the bumble bee is really cheesy haha

  • Wow! WOW! I love playing the bassoon and i cant wait to sound that good!!

  • LOL bee on the nose!

Have you ever got stung by 1?

  • does anyone know where i can find the sheet music for this piece for bassoon?

  • Simple, print out a page of solid black. By the way, what's 6*9?

  • hah!

  • Nice looking bassoon

  • circuler breathing is so hard on flute! I seen his tips they gave me a better idea of what to do. Anybody else have any tips??

    GREAT PLAYING BTW!

  • you're circular breathing, thats so cool

  • As much as I agree with you, this guy is PHENOMENAL with the bassoon

  • The bumblebee was a little funny, but wow...he rocks!

  • GODLIKE

  • wow hes good

  • MAJ thats soo not true !!

I play bassoon im grade 7 and i dont see how bassoon is so much better than clarinet.

There both good instruments its just silly.

Do you know ANYTHING about a bassoon

  • i wish there were a marching bassoon

  • me 2!!!! but u cant since ur eye will get poked out! it makes me sad!!! ): hehe

  • dont know y ppl r fightin over wat instrument is better....they should all b respected equally and everyone may have different favorite instrument...this guy's playin is awesome

  • clarinets are good instruments, but bassoons rock out more. :-)

    and yes, i play clarinet

  • i play bassoon and it rocks

  • Why is everyone dissing clarinets? I've seen several negative comments about them.

    :(

  • f0reve1nsane

Well the answer to your question is simple the clarinets attacked the bassoons first!!! look back a couple of months and you'll see!!!

  • Great stuff Terry!!

  • holy cow :) i play bassoon. we played flight of the bumble bee in marching band last year and i tought it was hard on flute :) haha

  • you are amazing

  • you sir, are indeed my idol. amazing bassoonist might i add. wonderful teacher.

  • AHHH I LOVE THE BUMBLEBEE

  • Where in Baltimore do you play, because I go to see the the BSO, and I am too a bassoonist

    and awesome job, btw

  • I perform regularly with ensembles at Towson University, less frequently as a freelancer in the Baltimore area.

  • HI!!!I started the bassoon a few weeks ago any tips? By the way your great I love Flight Of The Bumblebee.

  • Very well played, congratulations! The arrangement in a-minor was available in former Soviet Union a while ago, I thing it was made by Y. Shubert between 1940-1950. I prefer this one to Waterhouse version. Very well played, congratulations.

  • I must say, I really admire your engagement in this bassoon-online thing. Nice to see someone doing good stuff for the good of the double reed community!

  • AWESOME

  • you reminded me of my band teacher only he plays the claranet

  • Attaining that kind of speed on the bassoon is of a completely different stratum compared to doing it on a clarinet. You can't compare the two!

  • well how do you know?he's been playing for over 12 years

  • Just saying that fingering on bassoon is ridiculous compared to the nice logical system on the clarinet, making it easier to do technical stuff on the clarinet :-)
